    Safe weekend

I try to keep my eyes closed til 0700. Lol that way I am not tempted
  2. I will be sitting in between 2 overgrown pine tree plots with a tiny golden rod field in between them.
  3. The trend for me typically is that I am starting to see more deer early the 2nd day. Guessing since they are coming out of their norm after the first day they are just trying to seek different cover in the early hours the 2nd day. That's what I am starting to see.
  4. It didn't matter for me either way. But if I had to choose...I would go with Saturday. Gives me more days off work since I need to take off Friday and I am home with Tuesday now and able to clean or butcher the before Thanksgiving.
  5. Weather changed again for 9y. Yesterday calling for 3-5" snow. Back to 1-3" now. I should just stop looking at the weather and pack my beach clothing, wet weather gear, and cold weather gear. Then I wont have to worry about anything.
  6. Unless it is tornadic in nature, I can be found somewhere out there with a bright red face with chapstick in one hand and the rifle in the other.
  7. Yeah 1997 I was 14 and unable to hunt NY being an out of state resident. I also hope they are out cruising this weekend atleast til they get to my stand location and then they stop "dead" in their steps.
  8. The farthest I ever shot a deer off the pavement was between 3/4-1 mile. I did what buckmaster said. I carried my equipment ahead about 30-40 yards, went back got the deer and drug that to the equipment. It got the job done.
  9. Yeah I have been watching the weather for the past week for 9y. I got a little excited when I saw snow in the forecast yesterday. Like Turkey said...the wind....will be a little strong on Sunday
  10. I will 2nd Turkeys recommendation for the tree umbrella and the muff. Had issues for years with the hands getting cold til I bought a muff. Feet....I will never figure out how to keep them warm. I have a heavy water resistant coat from Gander Mtn that was a life saver as well.
  11. That pic reminds me of the area I hunt. I am so ready for Saturday!!
  12. Cant be good if we haven't heard an update in over 24 hours unless he is taking it to the taxidermist.
  13. I couldn't have said it better myself!!!! Congrats to your son
  14. I agree with some of the other guys...which ever one walks in front of you first!!
  15. Washed my gear last week, just need to let it hang outside for a night or two. Just washed up the last of my clothes last night to make sure I have enough clothes to pack. Shot the gun on Sunday and that is still on. Only thing I really have left to do is pack my clothes and get my emergency supplies gathered and into my backpack.
  16. If it was mine, I would just let it grow and maybe mow it once. Just my 2 cents
  17. Sorry to hear about your dog. I hope for the best. Keep us updated on what is going on.

Wow...gotta enjoy the conversations that are happening. Glad I am home from work and can enjoy a few cold ones and sit back and enjoy!!
  19. Well since my gang doesnt have a camp and we stay in a hotel.....guess my camp food will consist of going out to eat everynight. Maybe some year I will get to experience the "camp" life.... Until then restaurants here I come.
  20. Nice looking deer. It is like he knew the camera was there and stopped so he could show off a little before continuing his chase!!!
  21. Yes I agree good pictures are nice to have....but as long as there is a picture taken I am happy. However with my dad and his camera....you can count on atleast a 10 min photo session and moving the deer around atleast 3 times.
  22. Will be heading up to 9Y in 3 days. I am on the countdown at work and already got yelled at from the boss for growing a goatee. I flat out told him that I am in hunting mode. Good luck to everyone heading out.
  23. Sitting on the ground with my trusty little stool. Have a brush pile of dead trees behind me and sit in between two thick stands of pine trees with a bedding area on the other side of one of the pine tree stands.
