  1. Renslearville state forest is pretty much a ghost town after opening weekend. Lot of private, but lot of public. Something like OnX will help you navigate around those. Hunting the mouth of the ravine seems likely? https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/108618.html
  2. I just told my cube-neighbor (wife) and got a big old eye roll. She's pumped I can tell.
  3. He's right, I have them at my house. Like a woodpecker for the ground.
  4. Well since Biz already won, unless MaHomey gets the COVAIDS, maybe we should do 20$ KUIU gift cards instead? Plus, that will count towards my next 50$ off gift certificate.
  5. Well, autodraft because my parents didn't bring my kids back til 745. All for laughs anyways!
  6. Guys still need 1? OK I'm in. I'll donate 20$ to the Biz-Needs-Diapers fund.
  7. Bumping this for anybody who missed it. I want to plant a line of these to block off my field plot from the rest and someday get that feeling of immense satisfaction seeing a plan come to fruition.
  8. They haven't started eating it yet, but hot dang! Stuff is about a foot tall.
  9. Do bears like turnips? I found a few dug up yesterday, about the size of softballs now.
  10. Man. I looked in my closet, after I ordered some more on the labor day sale. And I officially have a problem. This weekends damage would be Axis Hybrid Pants + Gloves. Which will get me yet another 50$ gift card, which I'll roll into Peloton Base Layers before the season. I keep eyeballing the Gale Force stuff with avaricious glint in my beady little eyes. I do need a really warm outer layer for late season....... Side bar, is it dorky to have a spreadsheet of your gear? Asking for a friend.
  11. There's not an oat left in my field plot, they don't seem to be hitting it much now. Starting to nibble on the turnips though.
  12. I have it, I like it. Paid for the NYS map, good for property lines etc if you're going to be on public land. That seems to be it's main plus, the property lines, and sharing spots with people who also have it.
  13. I used a 1/2" nylon rope to pull a medium sized pine tree over last year, I think you're good.
  14. Not a trail cam picture, but was in my garage when I got back from buying a new saw at lunch! Definitely left an odor behind him. I should warn the neighbors about their chickens.
  15. I keep eyeballing it, my college buddies league is off this year.
  16. Worst day of hunting is better then the best day of work.
  17. My 2008 Bowtech commander is still going strong 10+ years and 2 restrings later. Never had an issue with the bow itself.
  18. Glad you're ok man. We're you standing on the ladder deck when that happened? Makes me glad I haven't spent the extra money on the Muddy stands. That's always the tetchiest part, getting that first strap on. I admit I never strap in when I'm doing that part. But I always stay down a rung or two, never get up on the deck. Always do like you did, tether each side to a tree so it can't go side ways. That don't help if the bastard breaks and goes straight down!
  19. Blood tracking is serious business. Might have been a grizzly that popped out too. If you had to choose a way to go, that's not the worst.
  20. More for my own closure:. The stingers are the black shaft with feathers. I got this warm fuzzy feeling when I walked up to it. The field points are only about an inch higher than the at 30, which is what I practice at anyways. So, pretty damn pleased.
  21. First shot in a month, re stringed, re tuned, and first shot with the Magnus Stingers. Putting them on feathered shafts for some increased drag worked excellent. Dead on at 30 too. The target points with the Blazer wraps are a bit off, but with 1 month to go I don't want to touch it. Shoots really nice at 66 pounds, 29.5" draw. Good old Commander, love her.
  22. Got this email earlier in the week, on Vacation with the fam so a little behind. Dear American chestnut enthusiast, You are receiving this letter because you had previously inquired about our blight-tolerant American chestnut trees developed at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF). After decades of innovative research, we are working with regulatory agencies to receive permission to distribute these trees to the public and use them in ecosystem restoration projects. We are at a critical juncture with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as they review our petition for determination of nonregulated status of the blight-resistant Darling 58 American chestnut. At this time, we are asking for your help in this process. The USDA 60-day public comment period began on August 19, 2020, and closes October 19, 2020. This is your opportunity to submit a comment and let USDA regulators know what the restoration of the American chestnut means to you. If you’re interested in adding a comment of your support, please use the following link: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/08/19/2020-18135/state-university-of-new-york-college-of-environmental-science-and-forestry-petition-for#open-comment Our colleagues at The American Chestnut Foundation have prepared a series of informative documents to help people navigate the comment process. You can view the documents here: https://www.esf.edu/chestnut/open-comment.htm If you need a quick review of our project, please watch this short award winning video https://vimeopro.com/lss/2020-templeton-telly-awards-1 The best way you can help the American Chestnut Research and Restoration Project at SUNY ESF right now is by voicing your support of the transgenic American chestnut as a forest restoration tool. Please participate and forward this letter to family and friends asking for their support as well. Thank you for your help in saving the American chestnut!
  23. Cool looking, but like you said, still pictures aren't proof. Plus at distance those small details tend to form into one big blob. Large color patterns with small details in each break up your outline better.
