WI Tall Tine Tubers plot 3 weeks in
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Dad pulled a turnip today, said it was pretty good, about as big as his thumb. -

Radish Planting - Late
UpStateRedNeck replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Yeah the timeframe for our area on the bag of Ravish Radishes I planted was August 1st to 22nd I think. I rushed to get mine in because of all that sweet, sweet rain that was coming, and you never know how the rest of August is going to be. -
That's gotta hurt like a B, right? Still growing, lot of nerve endings and blood vessels in there.

Switching to Fixed Blade with new string
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Bow Hunting
Those look evil, how's the blood trail? I like the 2 little blades on the side to open it up more. -
That's my alma mater. And it was probably my dumb cousin at the center of it. Same thing in Renslearville I'm told.

Switching to Fixed Blade with new string
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Bow Hunting
I'm leaning towards a 2 blade cut on contact, but those muzzys are well recommended. Blood trails stress me out, but probably because I've used rage w blades every year until this one. And my own poor decision making. -
Switching to Fixed Blade with new string
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Bow Hunting
The kind that come with radishes and snow peas, I hope! -
I've had some poor luck (almost certainly user error) with mechanicals, and it's time for a new string this year. Without getting into the mechanical vs fixed debate, I'm going fixed blade after 11 years of mechanical. Shooting a 2008 Bowtech commander, 65 lbs is an easy draw for me so it will be in that general area. Probably order up some new arrows, but I'm shooting Gold Tip Hunter Expeditions currently. Suggestions for fixed blade broadheads?

Looks like a normal Ford to me. "Hey, at least it's not a Dodge though right?"

Got a stand moved and lanes cut this morning, planted a week ago and it's coming up nicely! Peas are all enlarged and sprouting too. Not going near this spot again until late September, should be all set. -
We got a few inches, looking forward to seeing how my plots are coming on.

Yeah I'd love to know a good gunsmith in the Capital Region area. Everybody is dead or retired.

My goal opening day is to put a fatty in the freezer that's been slobbering down apples. They always seem to taste better.

https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/environment/article244539612.html Probably get swept under the rug because your average snowflake can't get this is how animals keep from having their preserves turned into farmland. Still, nice to see a non one sided view being presented to uppity Californian douches.

Might I add solid work on the soffiting and recessed lighting. Watch your head height big man! Don't want to have to spackle, sand and paint a forehead sized dent! Speaking from experience.

You do nice work Moog! What are you going to do with the floor? I did my basement and did a pergo knock off, came out good.

My bearded hen visitor has been around, she has 8 I think? Cool pictures, haven't seen any poults from the farm. Coyotes are wreaking havoc up there. This winter, murder.
-
What is that? Looks a hell of a lot like a salt like for cattle.

Small Kill Plot Advice
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Well we got about 2 inches of rain coming tomorrow night, followed by warm dry weather. Can't really ask for better growing conditions, but I'm really happy I rolled these or they'd probably be getting washed away even worse than the turnips! -

Setup close eh? I got just the spot 30 yards away: -
Absolutely Dave. Only good thing that's come out of this COVID nonsense for me is more time to work on the 40 some years of backlog on the farm.
