Corona Virus Thread

Do you think 'King Andy' is wrong? -
Awesome. thanks. I'll get myself to the Riverhead Costco tomorrow. They usually have it for a while and then it disappears for months. That's why I usually stock up. I'll let everyone else fight over the toilet paper. I'm stocking up on Mateo's!!!

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT??!! My Costco hasn't had it for the past six months. I went from having eight jars in the pantry to none. That stuff is the best and life is not the same without it.

I heard a gobbler Saturday morning as I was headed to the grocery store. Passed him on the street in front of one of my neighbors' houses. Residential Long Island neighborhood.

Corona Virus Thread

You know it's serious when Tucker Carlson, or anyone on Fox News, abandons the party line and starts acknowledging that this is a serious health crisis and not just the flu and not just 'fake news'. -
Snows are not really common on Long Island- at least not where I hunt. The only time I've seen any was about ten years ago on a hunt on a freezing cold New Year's Day morning. My group shot two of them on the south shore.

Really? There are more than 20 Corona-related articles on the Fox News webpage. -
What area are you in?

Ends midnight tonight. I just ordered a $200 ladder stand for $89.

No reason why that should make you unpopular. It's your choice- and, far as I recall, nobody on this forum has ever advocated for a ban on lead. I switched a few years ago also.

I've had those panelle sandwiches from Joe's- they are amazing.
-
I was in that area Saturday for a hockey game. L&B Spumoni Gardens for square pie on the way home. Awesome. The owner of L&B could’ve used a concealed carry last year.

Masks of either kind are not very effective at protecting you from picking up the virus. The virus spreads by droplet. So, unless you're getting very close to an infected person who's coughing or sneezing in your face, the mask is useless. The bug is picked up mostly from touching an infected surface. That's why hand washing is taught as the best method of avoiding the virus. Masks are more effective in preventing an infected person from spreading the virus because the mask stops the spray from the cough or sneeze. In hospital settings like where I work, anyone who has potentially been exposed to an infected person is asked to wear a mask for three days to prevent possibly spreading the bug during the incubation period. -
There's a poultry farm in Calverton- although they only have live turkeys in the months before Thanksgiving. There might be a few other small seasonal poultry farms around. But, the days of the Long Island duck farms are long gone. There is a rapidly growing wild turkey population here. They barely existed here just a few years ago. Now, they're everywhere. I have flocks of them in my residential neighborhood.

Anyone have any type of homeowner's insurance on their cabin? I inquired with my homeowner's insurance company a few years ago when I first finished building my cabin, and they don't cover it.

Looking for Private Property in Jefferson County
virgil replied to JasonB's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Good luck. I'd be very careful about purchasing land with someone unless you know them very well. Even then, can be really complicated. -
Great pictures. I had a chocolate lab years ago and she was a sweetheart. Good for nothing but lounging around the house and begging for food. But, the sweetest temperament.

My buddy's Chesapeake Bay retriever is a great dog for duck hunting. He's trained her well and I know she's great in the house with his kids. He feels strongly that finding the right breeder was very important.

Have a plastic tarp on the floor when he walks in.

Great program What dish is that last picture- looks almost like pastrami. -
Curious, how many guys and how much land in your camp? My buddy and I each took a doe this year. Didn’t see any shooter bucks.

Do Do you have a lease, or were you with an outfitter?

I’m going out here on Long Island in the morning. Checked at low tide this afternoon and there were loads of birds in the harbor.
