I agree that shutdowns are not necessarily the answer everywhere. Shutdowns were the answer at the beginning of the outbreak because we knew so little about the bug and how to manage it. Certain populations need to take greater precautions. It seems that basic social distancing, masks, and common sense have a major impact.

The governor of Texas in April or May passed legislation forbidding local governments from mandating the use of masks- a purely political move. That was a blatant disregard of the guidance from the experts. And, it was a purely politically driven move.
-
You are again choosing to interpret data according to your bias. The statement says deaths 'will likely increase'- doesn't say 'may increase'. And, yes, the numbers are below the peak of April- but, so what? They are still rising. They are rising because some states chose to disregard guidance from experts. Percent positives are increasing- that is a bad sign, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. Allowing politics to cloud our thinking on a scientific issue will only lead to disaster- look at Florida and Texas if you need examples.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/covidview/index.html From the CDC website. Key Updates for Week 26, ending June 27, 2020 Nationally, levels of influenza-like illness (ILI) and COVID-19-like illness (CLI) activity remain lower than peaks seen in March and April but are increasing in most regions. The percentage of specimens testing positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, also increased from last week. Mortality attributed to COVID-19 decreased compared to last week and is currently at the epidemic threshold but will likely increase as additional death certificates are processed.

It's not the number of positive cases that matters, it's the percentage of positive tests. And, it's not the gross number of deaths that is significant, it's the number of deaths per capita.

Nonsense. Movies are entertainment. The Godfather scene portrayed the point of view of the Italian mafia almost a hundred years ago. That post was made to show the member’s point of view today. Selective indifference on your part maybe. -
Where is the bow shop in Morris?

This post (specifically the caption at the top) is a disgrace to this site and makes us all look bad. -

The Trump/Jesus photo is definitely hilarious- unless, of course, it was meant to be taken seriously. But, this one? Not so sure. -

That's true. But, Republicans would never do that, right? -

I totally agree. But, the angry trolling on this site comes from only one direction. -

You're probably right. And then, they're dutifully spread by patriots on sites like these. What's the term that gets thrown around here a lot?... 'useful __________' ? -

I always love how so many of these smartass memes have typos in them. Really makes a statement. -
If fish are rising to something on the surface, you could try using an unweighted nymph as an emerger. Cast is out, let it sink a bit, and then bring it up toward the surface. They might hit it on the way toward the surface.

Sorry to hear. Best wishes to you and your family.

Are they definitely turkeys? Could they be turkey vultures?

My co-worker's son is flying the lead plane. Pretty cool.

How about snow? How does snow effect turkey behavior?

Rattler, if you can't deal with ever having forum members who don't agree with your point of view, maybe it is you who should go elsewhere. It's always the same routine with you- you post your propaganda and then attack anyone who disagrees with it- calling them leftist, socialist, Marxist, or whateverelse-ist. There are many differing opinions and points of view on this forum. If that bothers you so much, why are you constantly trolling for responses- are you just looking for 'likes' from other members who agree? If that's all you're looking for, why not just post on any of those wingnut sites where you get all your 'information' and memes? -

Great advice on this thread. The only fly shop here on the Island that I remember, was in Oakdale and closed a few years ago. If you ever do get into the city (post-apocalypse), there's an Orvis shop in mid-town. When in doubt, I always go with a #12 bead-head hare's ear nymph.
