  1. With a gun, I wouldn’t shoot a running deer with a bow! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Only for crow hunting, if I’m tacking in the snow I wear a white and brown plaid wool shirt. But I rarely wear camo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Begrudgingly back to civilization for a few days, might have to travel to another state after this weekends snow to find tracking conditions. Had a great 5 days was on 3 good bucks tracks but couldn’t get it done, after Tuesday the snow got very crunchy and made tracking a lot harder. My miss Tuesday just keeps playing over and over in my head, 40yds full run through a 3ft hole is a shot I’ve made many times before, but I flat out missed! Oh well a few days I’ll be back at it, might have to head to Maine or New Hampshire to find tracking snow but I’ll be somewhere. Total on the gps was 71 miles but over 25 of that was on the roads heading back to truck so I don’t really punt it. Let 5 bucks go saw 2 shooters and a bear. Now I’m back home and sitting in a damn tree stand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Long stride and the width between his steps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. You just have to be ok with dying, I know if I break a leg or anything serious I’m dead. No one knows where I am and it could be 4-5 days before my girlfriend got nervous and started calling people to look for me. It’s the price I pay to play the game I love. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I learned long ago that holy shit tracks are too rare to look for in the adk’s, I’ve hunted Maine and New Hampshire and there you can do it. None of my 200+ adk bucks had holy shit feet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I eat a lot of pasta to carb load. Any other time I hate pasta but usually make ziti or goulash to eat while I’m here. Also a lot of eggs and hot dogs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. What a day, I’ve never been one to make it easy and today proves that. I could have killed him 200yds from the truck but the heat seeker I sent his way didn’t make it to the destination. Total track 12.4miles over 3 mountains and across 2 rivers before he crossed rt 30 onto posted land. Still walking back to truck have another 6 miles to go and I left his track at 2:30. 9. Got on a good track in the dark, sometimes things go to good and I caught up to him in his bed at 745. He gave no signs of bedding down so he caught me with my pants down and only fave me one fleeing shot and I missed. Still on his track and I have lots of time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I’m lucky, never had it in my life, after the shot and I know he’s dead I come unglued. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. somewhere off on one of those ridges there’s a buck that had better get his affairs in order because his days are getting short! I got 5 days of snow in the forecast and it’s now go time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Never had it happen personally but that’s the exact reason why I won’t own an Xbow that I can’t change the string myself without a press. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Shoot what makes you happy! Don’t worry about what the neighbors doing. If you want the Gov. to step in to make it easier for you to shoot your trophy you’ve lost what it’s about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. If you don’t reload this is the cheapest place I’ve found 35rem ammo https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/mobile/product/23848/hornady_35_remington_200_grain_flex_tip?cpath= Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I shot a half of a box of 3 different loads when the barrel was 18”!and the other half after being cut to 16” i lost 27 FPS with 200 core-lokts and 22fps with Hornady lvr evolution, 13fps with federal 200gn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. 35 rem is one of my favorite cartridges. Hits deer hard kicks soft and comes in some awesome classic guns. I have 2 336 pre safety marlin 35’s and a Remington 760 pump a 141 pump a 14 pump and a savage 170 pump all in 35 rem. I’ve never been a fan of marlin lever think they’re too Heavy and long for what they are, but they do balance well and carry nice. With the mag tube it’s a little harder to trim the barrel to a proper length because you have to do the mag tube as well and unless you go to a synthetic stock that throws the balance off. It’s hard for me to recommend a 35rem to someone that doesn’t reload because the ammo can be hard to find and when you do find it it’s twice the price of 30-30. For someone that reloads it’s an awesome cartridge that’s extremely versatile. 444 is one that never intrigued me, owned one for a while but never warmed up to it. The Hornady interlocks were a good bullet but last I knew they discontinued them in the 265 so I wouldn’t know where to start these days because most .429 bullets are made to travel much slower then the 444 sends them so weight retention is a big issue. This 1953 Remington 760 is the only rifle I’m carrying this year. I cut the barrel to 16” and added a peep. Other than that she’s all original and wears the scars well. 17. Can’t get it to hit the bull at 50yds? Sounds like a gem of a remain to me! If that’s all that’s wrong with it you did better than most! Put a peep on it and a taller front sight and you’re all set. Be careful with the fiber optic they’re fragile especially banging through the big woods. What I do with mine is run a tiny bead on super glue down the sides of the fiber optic and on the sight itself, doesn’t let in as much light but still plenty and makes them much more durable! 18. Haha, I’ll never make an excuse for a buck I shoot and hate hearing the I thought he was bigger but I will say there was some ground shrinkage. I was poking my way on the top of a big ravine and heard crashing looked down seen a doe running and a white rack behind her she brought him by at 25yds I yelled he stopped and I shot him. I knew he wasn’t a giant but I didn’t expect to see that. I was shaking like a leaf after, it was an exciting hunt and I watched him die, couldn’t be happier! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Not sure if that’s good or bad, I’m a ripe old 30! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks moog, smallest buck I have shot in probably 10 years and I was shaking like a leaf! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. My brother came over for an evening hunt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
