  1. To each’s own I guess, that sound extremely boring to me. But I’ve hunted all but 3 days since oct 1 and spent less than 10hrs in a stand. Don’t care about accuracy with my guns if they can hold 3 quick shots in a pie plate free hand at 100yds that’s more than good enough for me. I have shot a few deer over 300yds but many many more were within 25yds with about 50/50 being in their bed or running. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Of all the bows I shot this year it was my favorite, quiet, smooth, forgiving, I like how easy it was to tune. No regrets in buying it it will take a hell of a bow to make me want a new one this year but we will see. Every year I shoot all of the premier bows if I find one I like more than my current bow I buy it. Sometimes I buy new every year sometimes I keep my old one for a few years. I shot a bowtech experience for 4 years before I found something I liked more. The last 2 bows have only lasted a year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Haven’t looked yet but in between ice fishing and open water I’ll start driving around shooting all the new bows if I find one I like more than my realm I’ll get a new one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Why not move it closer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Yea, how dare they brand their product. I hope you don’t drive a truck or own a boat or a motorcycle or anything else. The label doesn’t bother me at all hell if it did id cover it with a piece of tape and forget about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I disagree again, they wound differently but kill the same unless CNS is permanently disrupted by hydrostatic/hydraulic shock with a gun very rare most times it is temporary and the deer dies of lack of oxygen to the brain before it regains brain functions. All other kills are the same lack of oxygen to the brain. You shoot your compound at further distances with your compound because it makes you more proficient and closer distances, same reason I do. That isn’t needed with an Xbow because all you have to do is lay it on the rest put appropriate reticle on target and squeeze the trigger, no need to worry about anchor, sight alignment follow through or any of the other factors that come into place with vertical archery equipment. 7. I’ve been hunting with an Xbow since 2005 killed over 30 deer with it and I completely disagree with you. It’s impossible to put a percentage of how much easier it is to kill a deer with an Xbow than a vert bow but it is, A LOT! I’m not saying that Xbows are a guarantee and they’re obviously not a gun but inside of 50yds I’m just as confident with an Xbow as I am with a rifle from a stand. Inside of 50yds from a stand I really can’t think of a scenario where I would shoot with a gun that I wouldn’t with a Xbow. Excluding a running shot, but most wouldn’t take them with a gun either. If full inclusion comes in fine it won’t end my life but I don’t/won’t support it. There are many other things that should be way higher priority in the state. If NY gave a shit about revenue from hunting licenses they wouldn’t have given the deals they did on lifetime licenses a few years back. I got mine when I was 16 for I think 550$ for a super sportsman. That’s was 15 years ago. So the states lost over 1000$ from me alone. If I live to be 80 that’s 6K$ from me alone in lost revenue. I have no idea how many lifetime licenses were/are sold but it’s a terrible deal for the state. Now I’m sure the plan was to put the money in some kind of a trust but I guarantee the money has been long gone and used for some other bullshit most likely with nothing to do with conservation. 8. I like it the way it is, I like looking forward to being able to use something different. Xbow gets the best 2 weeks, it should be easier for someone who can’t draw a bow to be able to use Xbow year round. Really it doesn’t matter I see guys going into and out of the woods carrying their Xbows during bow season all the time. The truth is a lot of people don’t give a crap about the laws and use what they want. Hell 2 of my Xbows are too narrow and ones draw is too heavy for the stupid NY laws. 9. Just doing a little still hunting today, tonight’s the big night to shoot a doe with my daughter with me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Completely legal to own, completely illegal to attach to a pistol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I would bet you’re using core lokts, if not it’s most likely your rifle. I’m not familiar with a 783 is that their new entry level gun? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. After retirement I’m leaving, probably keep my camp in the ADK’s sell the farm and head for greener pastures. I’m seriously considering Minnesota or Wisconsin, I’m more of a fisherman than a hunter and think i could live pretty darn happy with the walleye and trout opportunities and not have to worry about paying some moron to wash my boat before I put in he water in this liberal ass state! 13. You always mention the cartridge used but do you ever ask about bullets? I would be very interested if some bullets would stand out, good or bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Hell of a buck Jay!!! Makes me happy seeing that old barrel still stacking them up!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Leupold has the best customer service in the industry hands down. I have told this story on here before but this is the reason why I will only use Leupold for the rest of my life. I got a gun from my grandfather about 5 years ago it had an ancient Leupold VX2 2-7 on it. There was some moisture in the scope making the lenses have a tint to them. I sent it to Leupold warrantee with a letter explaining The scope was my grandfathers and had sentimental value so if it couldn’t be fixed I still wanted it back. A couple weeks later I get a box in the mail and in it are two scopes and a letter stating they attempted to fix the scope and did the best they could but it still wasn’t up to their standards so they sent me a new one. The old scope is way better than it was and I use it regularly. Customer service like that is unheard of these days and after this even Leupold gained a forever customer. 16. Aesthetics have nothing to do with it, why in the hell would someone spend that much cash on a sweet light rifle and weight it down with an anchor of a scope? If you think you need 50mm what you really need is better quality glass. I carry a scopes gun nearly 60 days a year and the largest objective I own is 36mm with most being 20-33mm, not once in my hunting career have I not been able to shoot at legal light and that includes hunting in normal states with an extra half hour on both ends of the day. Objectives do not gather light, that is a sales gimmick. Do some research it’s scientifically proven. My suggestion for a scope would be a VX2 2-7x28 lightweight. If money is there a vx6 1-6 x24 would be perfect! Also stay away from illuminated reticle unless the scope has very close to a true 1X. They’re completely useless unless very fast target acquisition is needed and they add unnecessary weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Good luck Jay, you’ve earned it this year!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. That’s how I do it but I don’t use a golf ball and I don’t do it on the ground like in that video. My barn is 22’ to the rafters. I have a 55gal drum filled with concrete buried beneath the floor with an anchor buried in the concrete. Lift the deer till it’s off the ground use a set of duck bill vise grips that I’ve welded some teeth on and a loop to attach cable to anchor and hit the up button on the winch. Hole process takes less than 5 minutes, with the longest part being starting the neck and the actual winching. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks, ever since I was a little kid I have struggled with “nexthillitus” as my old man called it, doctors called it extreme adhd. I have Always wanted to know what was over there and never like sitting still. I’m good for a bout 45 minutes in a stand then I’m done. I envy the guys that can spend 12hrs in a stand. 20. I’m frigging tired, walked just shy of 9 miles in over a foot of snow. Followed a smoking hot buck track for about half a mile but after following him I knew he wasn’t a shooter and kept going with my loop never got on a big track but saw 3 does and a little basket. Woods were pretty, it was a good day. Sitting here google mapping a spot to head to tomorrow since all my normal spots have too much snow to track. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. It’s awful, I think it’s worse now than it’s ever been. If I shoot a real buck this year I don’t have a clue how I’d get it out, bunch of Pieces I guess because I can’t wear any kind of a pack and dragging will be brutal but hopefully I find out today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I left the house at 2am trying to make it to camp, had to cut trees and push snow with the bumper on paved roads I knew there was no way I was gonna make it 10 miles in on log roads and finally had to throw in the towel and turn around, turned around dropped the dog off and now I’m heading back north to a spot about an hr from home hoping I can get on a good track early with my late start. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I dread hearing that sound!! Because if I hear it most likely it’s me making them! I’ll take rain and wind over dry and crunchy everyday!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. After I get my moose trip out of the way in 2 years I’m heading to the Amazon to fish, after catching a few peacocks in south Florida a few years ago I can’t wait to catch them in their native waters!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
