Damn near hit a bear on my way into speculator night before last on my way to camp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have land that was a terrible investment, I bought it cheap had it logged and only have about 60k invested in 97 acres. The taxes are over 4K a year. It was one of the worst investments of my life. For that same 4K a year I could have a lease in another state that understands deer management. I could buy a lot of fuel oil to heat my house for what I have invested in that piece of land to cut fire wood. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cool, I guess? I'm 30 years old, own my own house, own over 100 acres, I don't smoke, a 6pack of cheap beer lasts me weeks, I have a good job and I don't owe a sole so much as a penny because I am completely debt free. 800$ on a so called "trinket" is money well spent in my opinion. I have the same issue being left eye dominant, I tried a tripod for the center console but never really liked it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes I have one and never use it, it works great out of the drivers window but I can't hold it steady enough out the passenger window or on the wheeler. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Glad it worked out for you. The 6.5 creed is such a neat little round. It's crazy to think that it has been around for longer than the 30-06 with only different names and slightly different designs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I understand scent control. But in a 20x20 cabin with no power in the middle of no where it's a lost cause. Between a wood stove and no washing machine or running water for a shower it's not worth even attempting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yea I could but when you're in a camp that's 10 miles off the road by yourself for 6-10 days at a time it is nice having a dog. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We are hunting the Adirondacks, after the first mountain you climb any scent control you thought you had is out the window. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You got that right! Some dumb 16yr old kid I knew "me" had a mint 722 in 300savage and traded it in on a new 750 auto that was a total pos! Oh I would love to have that one back! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Beautiful rifle! In as good of a deer cartridge as will ever be made! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm from just a little north of you. You have endless state land less than an hr north of you. Sounds like you already have a gun. Get your license and start walking through the the woods and learn as you go. You need any help along the way there is a wealth of knowledge on here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Honestly if I thought it was going to ruin our friendship I would leave the mutt at home. My response was to show him that he's being a whinny girl. As for helping him get a deer, other than filling his tag for him there's not much more that I could do. Last year I spent 14 days up there hunting with him after I killed my buck. I have hung rands for him, done drives to him. He has had plenty of opportunities and either missed or botched it one way or another. Unfortunately when it come to killing deer some people got it and some don't. He honestly is a good partner he pays his way, he's a good cook, helps with all the chores, is a good dragger and is of no treat to the deer herd. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Valid point! You're saying it's more of a mirror issue than a window issue huh? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dog stays in his kennel when I'm not there but we usually both hunt dark-dark so him being there alone with the dog is no issue. A little back story he built the camp about 15yrs ago and when I got out of the service he asked me if I wanted to join his camp, after a year he was looking for more members and I offered to buy half the camp so we wouldn't need any more members it has worked great because I am a bit of an asshole and generally don't play well with others. Oh he is certainly just looking for excuses! I offered to buy him out but the number was substantially less than what it would cost to buy me out. It will not affect what I will do, I will be up there when I want to be hunting how I want to hunt and bring who I want to bring. More than anything else I thought it was funny. He can't kill a buck because he sucks, has nothing to do with scent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So this morning my partner in my hunting camp told me he didn't think I should bring my dog to camp with me because he feels it's affecting his scent control. In the 3 years I have owned the camp with him I have shot 3 mature bucks, in the 15 years he has owned the camp he has killed 0 bucks. I'm in camp for weeks at a time and comes up for a day or two at a time. My dog is with me everyday and I won't be in a camp where he can't go. That being said he and I are 50/50 owners and I told him if he doesn't want my dog there he can buy me out. Am I being an A$$hole? I mean he knew my dog would be there when he wanted me to buy into the camp and now it's an issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I shoot hard cast lead bullets of the same diameter and weight as the Barnes for practice. I buy the bullets for about a nickel a piece and the sabots are about a dime each so for around .15$ a shot and they shoot damn near exactly the same as the Barnes out to 200yds. 722 in 257, I'm drooling. Got any pics? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I have owned 3/4ton gas trucks for my entire driving life and although they have gotten better they are still about the same 16hwy 14 around town 10-12 towing. I have a 16 ford with the 6.2 last one was a gmc with 6.0 my cousin that lives next door to me has a 16 dodge 2500 and he averaged 1mpg worse than me last winter hauling snowmobiles on trips with the same trailer. What tiny bit you might gain towing you will loose way more in daily driving. If you were hauling everyday than a 3/4 ton is a no brainer as a weekend boat hauler if your legal and safe stick with he half ton and enjoy the mileage and comfort. I agree! Most important to me sound. That includes walking in and setting up. Haven't found I climber or a set of sticks as quiet as screw ins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lol, maybe it's a skill issue. Very rarely stand hunt public land so I'll stick with my lock on and screw in steps. I would certainly take you up on the 15ft race. Being tall certainly helps but I only need 4 steps to get 15ft into a stand and at about 15 seconds a step I would bet I'm sitting in under 3 -4 minutes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lol, this is a joke right? Killed a total of 1 buck from a climber in my life. Although he was a dandy it was in onion so only kind of counts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
