They will kill farther than you you can accurately shoot.

Ruger 10/22 they are hard to beat and you can't have too many of them. Just last week I was in a shop and they had a full camo 10/22 and for whatever reason I needed it, now I have 4

I have found that most all farmers hate coyotes and welcome anyone who asks to kill them.

The 358 is one of my favorites but it's almost only a reloaders cartridge. My bar is a 30-06 and is pretty accurate 1.5" @100 with most ammo, the biggest problem is the trigger. All in all I like my bar but I don't think I will ever "want" another and can't really put my tiger on why I don't love it but I just don't. Of the 3 semis I own it would be #3 behind the Benelli and the remingtons. It's a little more money but the Benelli R1 is an awesome auto. And comes in a synthetic stock.

Describe the techniques you used to attract deer this 2015 season
Buckmaster7600 replied to Rockspek's topic in Deer Hunting
To each's own, I don't do anything crazy. I just hunt funnels and after sitting for a while when I'm about to call it I will rattle for a few minutes if it keeps me in he stand an extra half hr I guess it can't hurt. Other than that I hunt the wind don't pump gas in my hunting clothes and wash them a couple Of Times a year in scent free soap. I piss of my stand and spit Copenhagen off my stand and have had way more deer lick my chew spit than I have had them come in while rattling. -
I had the same worries but have used it for I think 3 years now and haven't had an issue with the ranges I shoot. If a deer moves from 35 to 40 or 35 to 30 it's very easy to adjust for that little bit I guess if I shot at 80 and it moved to 90 it might be a bigger deal.

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong
Buckmaster7600 replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
Be careful with a scope that won't hold zero they will loose zero over a night! -
I have shot a few bucks in the Adirondacks that I jumped from their bed and got set up and shot them within the hr coming back to their same bed.

That's 13 more animals that were found because of you and Luna, that's a huge success in my mind!
-
That's up to you, I wouldn't but as I said earlier that's just me. I like taking all doubts out way before i'm in the woods with a deer I want to kill in my scope. If you can "know" you can hit a pie plate at a distance you have never shot than have at it.
-
No they don't but if they did I would own 2.

I have to say this was nice to have an educational discussion that didn't turn into a big argument.

Can't blame the bullet for that I drop after I reach my climax too.
-
Don't try to understand them, they're wrong! That's like trying to understand libs and gun control.

Fundamental ballistics are very simple. A projectile leaves the barrel at centerline of bore and starts on its trajectory during its trajectory it will cross line of sight twice once going up and once going down.
-
No a football or basketball a baseball and a bullet all have trajectory and all fly the same.
-
never heard the term "flat trajectory" and don't think its possible. No a projectile without propulsion cannot defy gravity but an object set into motion at an upward angle will continue in an upward angle for a given distance until gravity begins beating momentum. Think basketball shot- technically a basket that's shot from the 3 point line is "dropping" from the original trajectory as soon as it leaves the shooters hand but the ball still travels in an arch.
-
No it's not bs all that Article is saying is that it drops from centerline of bore and that is true but to say "it drops" is incorrect because the bullet is still on an upward path just not on the same upward path as the centerline of bore.
-
If it started dropping as soon as it left the barrel our scopes and sights would have to be on the bottom of or guns because the projectile would never cross the line of sight.
-
There are 3 things you need to know when talking ballistics. line of sight, centerline of bore and trajectory. Hopefully this pic will clear it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This was at 175yds with my 6lb rifle shooting free hand and he was trotting right along, so I guess I should have missed?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nov 17th to the 22 in the Adirondacks with one of my 35 whelens and hopefully 2-4"s of fresh snow.

A big woods rifle is what you make of it. To me it's light short and fast handling. A 7mm-08 is a dandy cartridge.

Yea I don't know much about them, did 8 years in the marine corps with a little over 6 of them as a sniper with 2 trips a Afghanistan and 1 to Iraq. Nope don't know nothing about military snipers. I can promise you that if I ever had to make a fast shot it was with my m4 and the long gun stayed on the pods.
