Are you sure you missed ? 2 deer this year I tracked after being shot with 12 ga. slugs didn't leave blood but were mortally wounded.Both times the entrance hole was high and the exit plugged up.I know how ya feel though,I missed an older buck with my bow this year.

Why is this fat guy happy ? He finally got to shoot a gun at a deer and fill a DMP this morning. O.K. it wasn't a great shot but the deer is hanging up. I had this one come in behind me while I was sitting in a tree stand about 8:25 this morning in 8F. I watched her kick up her heels and run after the shot.I waited and about 10 minutes later 7 more doe snuck past in the brush.2 of them were huge and several were smaller than this girl here.I didn't have anymore dmp's for that area and the shots would not have been that good anyways.The freezer will be getting full.

Must have been the moon as I had 7 deer bedded in my backyard last night .

Had two crawling on me early Oct. bow season just outside Rochester. Google deer ticks you will find out a lot of info about the little parasites.Deet repellant is recomended for ticks.

Still some time left.I didn't see much last week myself.I passed on 3 doe because of trees in the way but sometimes I wonder if I should have tried a shot.At least I know I didn't take a poor shot.Good luck, I think the hunting is going to pick up again soon.

I use a small chain link connector (?) that has a quick threaded part to close and open the gap that I place around my bow cable.Like fasteddie said-the rope always gets tangled.

Wow what a way to have your day ruined.You would hear a slug slapping weeds,branches etc. before you hear the bang.Or a kind of fluttering sound if it was going overhead.At least that is the way I remember it.Glad you were not physically hurt.I hope the guy can't sleep tonight.

I took my 16 year old nephew to Letchworth Park today.He got his first deer about 10 minutes after legal shooting time started with his grandfather's very old J.C. Higgins smooth bore 12 gauge pump.He missed the first shot but hit him on the second, the deer went about 200 yards with no blood trail.I am so happy we found him! Picture is from a phone.It was a 6 point buck.
