Maybe next year, I don't wan't to spend that much if I don't have to right now.If something happens to my current bow I probably won't invest any money in to it and then I will have to decide about a new bow. There are some bows advertised around the $300 - $350 range that I would investigate if I needed to.

I found out today that my brother,nephew,mother and father were all stung by bees in the past few days.Must be the weather.

o.k now you guys are making me want a new bow too. Maybe next year, mine is only 11 or 12 yrs. old.

Wow ! I still have my Golden Eagle Evolution as My backup's backup . Mine is called falcon flame.It worked last year and is on target this year so I shall see.I'm too cheap to spring for a new bow if I don't have to. :-\

I want to try and pick off some squirrels by my stand. They build up my hopes when I think it could be a big buck walking by when it ends up being a little squirrel. I can tell you about several times I thought "those damn squirrels" as I turned in my treestand to have a doe look up at me.Oops, my bad. :-[

My bow is eleven years old,I bought it new.The only problem is Golden Eagle is out of business.I read on a forum about one guy who can't get a new part for his Golden Eagle bow.Lifetime warranty really means lifetime of the manufacturer.

I was only stung once by a hornet but that was enough.I thought I would help someone by spraying a small nest in a shed.The can must have been old because the only thing that came out was propellant.A hornet stuck it's head out of the nest and decided to attack.It quickly flew back and forth as I was running backwards, I lost sight of it for a few seconds until I felt a tap on my hand.I realized after that why a jet fighter was named after that bee.

1 OR 2 consumed by my teenage son and myself.I share some with relatives.The past two years I gave a deer to a co-worker with young children. I also don't buy much beef. Deer- the other red meat.

Doc, the silver lining to all that money you invested in equipment was that you helped the economy and gave the manufacturers the incentive to stay fresh which I'm sure helped to evolve our favorite past time. Besides now when I wear my wool Carhart pants I can feel "retro".

I agree with most of what has been said so far.I have found many hunting items over the years at clearance prices.A person new to hunting does not have to spend a small fortune to bring game home and enjoy the sport.I wrote once before about a bowhunting video I bought aprox. 25 yrs ago that starred Chuck Adams.In it he showed how to camo the human face.clear an area for a treestand and how you could wear an open pattern flannel shirt or jacket to break up your outline.That was before the Outdoor shows and most of the hunting camo patterns were marketed with well known hunters as spokespersons.I enjoy some of these shows but I also know I don't need the latest -greatest weapon or gadget . Some hunting supplies have made great improvements due to the big business of the sport- climbing treestands come to mind.However a borrowed firearm,warm clothes,practice and a clean 5 gal. pail as a seat could still be enough to bring home some game.(And a license of course). Or a used bow since we were talking about archery.

In case you didn't already know,you can get the dmp and other tags online.Saves a trip to a store but you have to wait to receive them in the mail.

I'm with you, if it is steaks or antlers I'll take the steaks every time.It doesn't hurt to record movement ,weather etc. I just have a limited number of days to hunt and have been in the woods when I thought I should see deer and saw none,or didn't expect to see any and got run over.I'm sure it depends on pressure as well.I still call my hunting buddies and say things like " I read this weekend should be good".

I think there will be...a rut... this year. I've given up trying to figure the rut out.The best advice is go hunting whenever possible because you can't predict what will happen.And don't try to figure the rut out so much that it takes the enjoyment out of hunting.I have had more enjoyment and success by not having a plan and then just winging it.
