  1. New Yorkistan. One of the leaders in the fight toward absolute federal control. You either understand the implications, or you don't.
  2. What do you want them to be like, Dom? If you're looking for the flavor and texture of 'factory-made' chips you're gonna need a small warehouse of chemicals and other 'special' ingredients. Otherwise, they're going to be either fried or baked potatoes. I prefer either of those over mass-produced chips anyway.
  3. I came across a much more concise article yesterday, but I can't seem to locate it today: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/govbeat/wp/2015/02/19/miffed-at-the-fracking-ban-these-new-york-towns-hope-pennsylvania-might-adopt-them/ Apologies for straying off-topic.
  4. They've been known to bite too.
  5. Outside of their propensity to both vote and behave badly, I have no animosity toward the down-staters.
  6. I honestly thought the title was an intro to a joke. Don't I feel stupid! Thanks for the reminder though. The machete could use a good sharpening before firewood hunting season.
  7. There should be an 'open season' on self-righteous idiots. No daily limit.
  8. It's for your own good, trust me, I'm not trying to change who you are
  9. I managed to get onto the roof to clean the bird screen on my chimney cap today. It was sooted-up to the point where the chimney wouldn't draw any more.
  10. Nicely put, NFA-ADK. I've never hunted 'the big woods', but their stories and teachings have been with me for the past 40 years. A legacy family for sure.
  11. My brother is a rescue volunteer just a bit south of that area. I'm glad he didn't get the call to go looking for her in this weather because he would have gone, regardless of the risks. It's part of what he does. You have to know exactly what you're doing in those elements, at all times. Either you know it or you don't. She didn't.
  12. She probably saw it on tv, and thought, "Sure, I can do that, no problem." Clueless, stupid, and dead. Thankfully rescue personnel weren't killed or injured.
  13. Probably more like strawberry shortcake! Nice to see that you've combined a couple of hobbies wooly.
  14. I've been inside staying warm all day, doing estimates and writing nasty letters to various politicritters. Time to bring in more firewood though.
  15. I wish you and yours all the best!
  16. Sweeeet! All hail, sub-wooly! Put a nice dripper on her and she'll shine for ya. Awesome pic too!
  17. John Belushi in his role as Bluto in Animal House: "Ya f'd up. Ya trusted us."
  18. The early bird gets the worm, but the early worm gets eaten. Nice to not be a worm I guess.
  19. Those batteries will be used as nesting material for the unicorns. I thought everyone knew that.
  20. Here's a thought: lets discuss the article that was posted and leave the personalities out of it. The author made some very good points that attacked 'politics' in this country without being partisan about it: -Politicians lie, and they have admitted it, and they will keep doing it to get what they want -What the politicians want is always in their best interest, and their thoughts and actions will always reflect what they want -There is no issue, big or small, that can't be played through the media in such a way that the savvy politician doesn't get what they want etc, etc
  21. The concept of 'truth', in whatever form, doesn't really even enter the debate. It's about conformity. Those who conform are accepted, by whichever side, according to the rules of that particular 'side' of the debate. Those who don't conform to either side are considered 'radical' in their thinking and often ostracized by both camps. Individualism has been deemed in many ways, often by both sides, to be somehow 'politically incorrect', a concept that by it's very nature favors conformity. Current progressivist thinking rules this universe of conformity, and all others are demonized regardless of their political stance. The very right to 'question authority' has somehow become 'politically incorrect'. Think about what that means and where it's headed.
  22. I truly admire your spirit, grow! Wednesday was a 'moving snow around' day for me. Bucketing piles back to make room for more snow, and shoveling roofs. My dear old dad stopped by to rake off the eaves and hold the cell phone in case of emergency during the roof work. I can't wait to start complaining about heat and bugs again.
  23. 'Destroy us' may be too harsh. Perhaps 'remove any individuality from us' is a more acceptable phrase.
  24. Interesting use of 'expertise' in pursuit of the public good: http://www.epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Files.View&FileStore_id=b90f742e-b797-4a82-a0a3-e6848467832a At least one of them is still in prison. Back-checking the accuracy made me sick to my stomach, so I stopped reading, but many of the currently proposed regulations are still based on the 'standards' put in place by these guys. I'd be willing to bet that most colleges have incorporated these 'standards' as part of their curricula as well. And so it continues. This is your government folks.
