Very sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers sent.
-
I brought a couple nice stacks of firewood into the house. A couple more loads this afternoon and I'll be good to go without having to shovel out the stacks in the back if the snow comes. Tractor chains tomorrow if the forecast persists. The pole-saw-to-roof-rake switchover can be done inside if it becomes necessary.

Good food and good guys at southern tier region 8 meet & greet

Sounds like you guys had fun. Sorry I missed it ;-( -
Happy Birthday, Doc! And wishing you many more!

A guy in a Nevada desert a few years ago hit a gopher at over two miles. That's a long poke at something the size of a soda bottle. It took him two days of trying, but his friend on the range finder/spotting scope, and a neutral observer both attested to the fact that he hit at that distance.

I have a friend who does 1000 yard shoots around the country. His bases and rings are specialized affairs with an elevation angle built into them. I don't think he could hit with any accuracy at 100 yards if he wanted to, even just sighting down the side of the barrel. It's a "purpose-built" gun, and it's purpose is not 100 yard shooting. FWIW the gun is a .338 Lapua Mag, and he's hit relatively small stuff at 2000 yards with it. Like woodchucks, for instance.
-
What is the purpose of the gun? Is it a competition rifle? Are you going to Camp Perry to "ring the bell"?
-
Forget it. It's not likely that I'll ever shoot another shotgun slug again but I'm certainly not going to play with that.

Don't discount Ka Bar. -
I believe the conversation was about potential problems from an unharvested cornfield being used as a food source. There are several cornfields around me that didn't get cut this year due to poor growth. It's not baiting; it's farming economics, and the deer will munch on that corn until it's gone. Until they change their basic diet for the winter they'll be fine eating corn.

Keep Hillary away from Monica and Bill. She hates them both, and will probably dull their chains for no good reason.

What are their names? You HAVE named them haven't you?

Happy Birthday Cynthia!

Region 8 southern tier get together, when & where ?
philoshop replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
I have good days and bad days. Pick a spot and time, and I either make it or I don't. Just have a good GTG. -
Ugliest damned bluegill I've ever seen.

My sister had two German Shepards. The first was named Cybill, after Cybill Shepard. That was during the the TV show with her and Bruce Willis. The second was named Tonka because he was an absolute truck. Both pretty cool names, but maybe dated. FWIW, I had a little black Ford Focus to haul my drum kit around with years ago. The license plate read "caw ****". I named it Sheryl, after Sheryl Crow.

Keep both hands on the grinder and you'll be fine. Trying to hold a workpiece in one hand and running the grinder with the other is a definite no-no. Just friendly advice.
-
All the best to you my friend! And not just on your birthday.

What kind of wood?
philoshop replied to 2012_taco's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
I'm thinking red elm or possibly hickory. Hard to tell from just photos, though. -
I was able to get out of bed and watch the sunrise, then spend the day with family. That's enough.
