  1. Planting may have been early, but it seems the maturing was a little late this year. Then the rains delayed the harvest a little more? Two weeks ago I did some scouting where I gun hunt every year, and then spent the afternoon helping the landowner fix one of his tractors. The farmer who leases his tillable acreage does about 2000 acres of corn and beans and was just starting to harvest his other leased areas, and we're last on the list. Hunting could be a little tough this year if the corn is still up.
  2. Welcome to the forum. Best of luck to you.
  3. I'd love to have a vac-sealer but it's never been in the budget. Freezer burn is caused mostly by air in the wrapping. Really thin plastic bags, like they have for produce in the grocery stores, can be squeezed manually so that there is very little air in them. Wrapped with freezer paper that little bag of meat with no air in it will last for a couple of years or longer w/o an issue.
  4. Urbanites, academics, and hippies. Oh my! We're coming to take you away. Hey,hey! And on it goes folks. The wizard is back.
  5. "...we are being ruled not Governed." Thanks for that Huntscreek!!! You nailed it!!! Pretty clear from various red/blue maps of the voting in NY: property owners don't count. Urbanites, academics and a handful of hippies decide how we'll live. I'm loading ammo for a couple more hours, then I'll drink beer 'til I fall asleep. A sad day for NY.
  6. An act of desperation. Wait 'til 2016 and see just how low they can go. "The sheeple are revolting, your highness. Oh what shall we do?"
  7. Welcome to the site Bob. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Cold!!

It's not really cold until you have frozen snot hangin' sideways from your nose. It sure feels cold though. Pass me that bottle please.
  9. Great idea! Could also double as an interrogation device should the need arise.
  10. Very nice Wooly! I'm guessing that you like the new rig.
  11. Good luck to you! Two more weeks!!
  12. Most of my hobbies over the years have turned into businesses. That sucks. To avoid that my new hobby is to not have a hobby. Enjoying life is it's own reward.
  13. Build a house on it, walk it every day armed, get to know the local leo's, and hope for the best.
  14. The best lure during the rut is a real live doe Franky. Put yourself along a doe travel route between feeding and bedding areas and you'll see bucks. Whether you get a shot or not depends on your skill at placing that stand.
  15. As long as it's not a semi-auto w/ a detachable mag you're good to go. For now. Guess I need to type faster. +1 on what they've said above.
  16. Think of the money you're saving on cover scents!
  17. Every time you go into the woods with a chainsaw, or the intent of felling trees by whatever means, you have to accept the fact that you might not come out. The risk is just always there. Always!
  18. Welcome to the forum, Frank. Best of luck to you.
