  1. I've had several friends in law enforcement tell me that if you have to shoot to protect yourself, your property, or your family, make sure you kill the guy. Dead men don't get to tell lies at trials. Kill the SOB and then call the cops so they cay put the chalk outline around his body, not yours.
  2. I think it was 30 bucks or so. A lotta fun for the money.
  3. I have a what's called a "bugbuster scope" on one of my .22's. It's actually made to shoot grasshoppers with a pellet rifle. It can adjust to be parallax-free at like six feet. With sub-sonic rounds it's a hoot.
  4. If the scope is not parallax-adjustable this is a very important consideration. Thanks for bringing it up. Most rifle scopes aren't parallax-free under 100 yards. Move your head and the target moves. No bueno. My 10/22 is a lightweight "bench rest" gun and the cheapest part of it other than various pins and such was the glass. It's parallax adjustable to twenty feet or so, and It's taken a few knocks during squirrel duty in the woods without incident. It might have cost about $150 dollars. Sub 1/4" groups at 50 yds are the norm from the bench. On my own hind legs things tend to open up a bit.
  5. Best wishes to your dad Jerkman. I meant to include that earlier.
  6. If the left cannot maintain a continually offended class of people in America, they've lost of their base. Hence the panic when President Trump makes peoples' lives better, across the spectrum, every single day. They simply don't have any intelligent response to it. So they throw temper tantrums. Just watch "the news".
  7. Just shout out a date, my friend. People will show up. Lots of HNY critters in that area. We had a relatively small gang in Geneva this summer but I don't think anybody went home hungry or disappointed.
  8. ...but how good and tasty are bigfoot hotdogs? Just wonderin'.
  9. It's never a "waste" to inform people. I can't help you in person, but I will definitely mention it to the folks that I see every day, and you never know who might step up.
  10. It's like the "great hot-dog controversy" all over again. And that capybarra thing was unsettling as well....;-] My sister's friend walked to her kitchen the other day and found an emu pecking at, and destroying, her humming-bird feeders. An emu. She knew where it was from and called the owner. No big news event.
  11. I applaud the effort. There are far too many people who think that a piece of meat in a styrofoam foam tray covered with Saran wrap in the grocery store is a "natural environment". People, especially the younger folks, are starting to get it. They should be encouraged in any way possible.
  12. If it wasn't for the rust, my old work van wouldn't even be here. I think that's what holds it together.
  13. A lunch buffet at the Phelps Hotel for my Mom's 80th birthday today with about 35 friends and family. Sorry, no food pics, but everything was excellent. Crab cakes, stuffed chicken tenders, quesadillas, little roast beef sandwiches with every kind of topping & insert imaginable, an ossobucca-style pizza, too much to mention. No one left hungry. An enjoyable afternoon. And my Mom, who rarely says a word about these things, stood up and said that she is officially as old as dirt. I had tears in my eyes. God bless you Mom!.
  14. I once perched in the tops of trees with a chainsaw tied to me for a living. For money. I was always tethered to the tree. Always. I never saw any reason to mess with that just because I was hunting rather than taking down a tree. As comfortable as I was climbing trees on a daily basis, I never forgot exactly where I was and the hazards of not being aware at all times.
  15. My first date for the hunting season? Janice. She's smart and funny.
  16. There was a video on netflix a while back about Muscle Shoals recording studio. Not sure if it's still available. Check it out if you can find it. Aretha Franklin was one of the many artists. A friend of mine did some session work with her in the early 1980's and described her as a b**ch, but later softened and said that he understood it to be frustration. If the sound in her head didn't come out in the studio she would lash out. That pretty much describes every talented musician I've ever worked with. Without passion, there is no music.
  17. The problem in NYS is somewhat unique compared to other states. NYC is home to one of the most left-leaning newspapers in the country and they won't print a single word about a Conservative candidate. Not one word. This is what Rob Astorino faced, even though he was a prominent figure in Westchester. It's not just an uphill battle for a Conservative in this state, it's uphill against an enemy with the full support of the media and they don't mind suppressing all debate if it fits their end goal. I might add that there are few Conservative politicians even remaining in the state to take up the fight. The smarter folks have left for "greener pastures".
  18. The gal was talented, and she'll be missed. Much RESPECT ms Franklin!
  19. All the best to you on your birthday, Larry!
  20. I hope he runs for President and wins the Democrat nomination in a landslide. President Trump will destroy him in about 15 seconds and leave him as the quivering pile of jelly that he is. That would be glorious, and I could drag out my FUAC t-shirt.
  21. Soaked in the husk corn, or peeled corn? Soaked takes about 35 or 40 minutes on the grill. Peeled corn I put in the microwave for a couple of minutes wrapped in wax paper and then roll around on the grill for a minute or so. Depends on what flavor you're looking for.
  22. Use the harassment team as Ghillies. I love it!!
  23. I thought they'd go away when they saw I wasn't intimidated. They had some weed and a few beers with them, though, and had to wait for daylight to find their way out. I honestly that maybe a curious deer would come within range and I could really make a spectacle of the whole thing.
