  1. Sweet. I pull an 8ft disk with my 28hp cat as long as it's not too wet Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  2. Nice ride! Gas or diesel? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  3. Why wouldn't you be happy to take YOUR kids out on a weekend, a week(ish) early before others are out their stomping the woods and pressuring birds? If your all about special time with your kids and enjoying your time with them, as the majority of parents are the same way. I would think Youth Season is a no brain'er, to enjoy another weekend watching mother nature and letting your kids grow the same passion you have for the outdoors? Before they are given the chance to get into other "not good" things in life that come with teenage years.. I'm a father of a soon to be 3 yr old, a boy that is due in June and a stepfather to an 11yr old boy, I cant wait to let him harvest next year, and neither can he. Same goes for my young children when they grow.. Maybe its just me but to see any Youth hunter(especially mine), so very happy with a harvest or just an awesome experience in the woods or anywhere for that matter.. just puts a giant smile on my face.. I don't think the Youth Deer hunt was only intended to hopefully have it warm outside, but to give them opportunities on un or less pressured whitetail just like turkey season was intended to.. I wish they'd lower the minimum Youth age to 10, or even 8 for that matter!! Start them young and get them hooked! Eliminate more chance for them to get "hooked" "elsewhere"!!
  4. All this, and the growing number of hens. The toms don't have to do much besides be present
  5. Thats a good point, never really looked at it that way. I just see it as way too many eyeballs to even think about putting a sneak on lol. Maybe im a clumsy stepper in the woods
  6. I agree grow, Used it have only a few awesome roost spots. they were go to spots almost every year. now they roost in many others around the properties on the hill. And my favorite roost site is being clear cut as we speak.. kind of sad. Id imagine the birds will be roosted on private property next door most of the time now.. A few years ago we had an early spring with green up i thought. but other than that, it is fairly early for sure.
  7. It was fall, I have a stand setup fairly close to a well known roost. The were single file the last time I saw them at 12 yards lol. I just have zero interest in a fall gobbler.. then I think about it.. maybe it would be cool with a bow lol. And Tonto it all off, as we speak they are clear cutting that roost ... just my luck Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  8. I've said the same thing about the Tom to hen ratio. For the amount of hunters out there spring turkey hunting, mainly only harvesting male birds. The hens get free passes almost all year long. I know my first opportunity at a hen during the fall I take, I'll pass up toms to take hens in the fall. Let a group of 14 LB'S walk last year several times waiting for a hen. I think of it kind of like the whitetail rut. That Tom has an abundance of females .. he does this need to fight nor talk if he doesn't want to. But then one will argue that you need hens to breed and have the poults.. true.. but to possibly make spring season a bit better, I think a hen or 2 need to be taken each year. Like a manager would for whitetails.. Plus I hate how you get that Tom working and coming in finally. And just out of range, have him go tight lipped and disappear cause a hen toted him away lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  9. I feel your pain, i have several that do not get set in for consecutive years. Straps get checked and such each year but never get set in during season. Mainly for the reason there are better stands around, and the same fact that i bump deer either leaving or going in to sit it. Without access through neighboring woods it makes these sets hard to sit successfully. I have way too many stands and less time to sit them each year it seems.
  10. For a small plot like that, I'd stick with your clovers and chicory especially once the soil is tested and lived appropriately. Plant something they can eat but will regrow in a smaller area. IMO.. brassica plants will get wiped out before season unless you cage them in and open it for bow season lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  11. In Steuben County our numbers are coming back slowly. More this year than last year. A ton of hens around. Between ourselves and the neighbors, 3 years ago we slaughtered the longbeards on our hill. I think we got a little too trigger happy on one property that year. We left it alone, only taking 1 bird since then and things are looking better. not as good as used to be but better.
  12. Throw and grow seeds are junk, its mainly only a ryegrass that will grow and that is not what you want in a plot. ive used it way back in the day in a spot like this, it did grow some sort of grass and did kill a doe off it but knowing what i do now.. dont buy it(or any evolved harvest blend IMO) Also, im not 100% on this but if those are dead fern plants in the picture, your ph is probably quite low. For small plots get a couple white and red clovers and an oat, wheat to plant. But id cut a few more trees down on the edge and in the center.. or plant some trees that will produce in there..
  13. I sure am, my top 5 bucks from 2016 all survived to see another season. And several other younger bucks that will be beauties this year. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  14. They dont seem to bad! WHAT CLASS IS YOUR SD CARD? I switched my browning video cams to a class 10 card from the normal class 4 card and video quality improved.
  15. Was surprised to see them there. 18.99$ and they were plentiful Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  16. Sure do, picked up a bag of WI Clover just to look at it... and WOW! Lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  17. For anyone interested and searching... Runnings in Canandaigua has 20 ga Winchester Longbeard XR shells... 5's and 6's
  18. Lol its all good. I do the same. I'm I'm happy as long as a cam takes good viewable pics and has battery life. And lasts more than a couple years. These cams do their jobs, and they aren't horrible. But compared to my browning cams. Not even close Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  19. There also a certain people I that I do not trust that use the same social media's as I do.. lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  20. I agree. I don't mind showing pics and such. As you said I don't want to be that guy with another big buck or what have you. But out of respect of my neighbors that manage as well.. I try to keep all of them from becoming public Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  21. I am with TreeGuy, I try to keep the biggest ones to myself until they are harvested. But here is a frame of a buck making a scrape, that's #4 on my hit list..
  22. I do not have that same cam, but I bought 3 bushnell 12mp cams last year because they were marked down 75% from 190$ and im not impressed with them at all. for the 50$ i spent per cam.. id never spend it again for them. Im sure other bushnell's are better but, to sell this cam at full price for 190$ with the quality of these.. IMO total junk. I used to love bushnell, not so much anymore... just my 2 cents. Battery life was decent. Pic quality was good as long as they stood still and smiled.. Horrible shutter speed.. etc Hope your cam is much better!
