Thanks, I'm probably going to need large or XL whichever size they sell. The bases on these antlers are 6" and 6-4/8" lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Looks decent. How durable is the plastic? It doesn't flex too much does it? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I have a 50$ Cabelas card, and 85$ to Dicks/Field&Stream so it will probably be ordered from one or the other. Thanks Zem!

I'm going to give it a shot I think. Worse case I just take it a part and use it for a different set of antlers. Maybe put some sort of paint or stain for color/texture. Plus something new to learn lol. I've got trail cam pics so I can get it close to actual appearance Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

They don't look too bad from what I can tell. I just don't want to waste the money if they're junk. Or if there is good and bad brands out there. Looks pretty simple. Drill a hole in the center of each beam and lag together. 2 different size skull "tops" for size of antlers. Just curious i guess. Wouldn't be the worst 30 $ I've ever spent lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Treestand organizer /shelf

Agreed, that's what I thought you were describing. I'd like to build a couple permanent stands this summer. And they will have these incorporated Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
Awesome, Has anyone ever purchased a "fake" skull and attached shed antlers to them? I am looking to make a European skull mount with a recent set of sheds I found. If so, is it a pain to get them accurate to the way they grew out of the skull, and how"d it turn out? JC Thanks

Im really not interested in harvesting game other people have scouted for me or have a history with. So I never gave it much thought, but it would probably either be either a Brown Bear, Moose or Elk archery hunt. Has to be Archery attempted first, then ML as back up..

Treestand organizer /shelf

I did the same as tf does, but find it tough at times to get things out of the bag without too much movement or noise. I lilke this dedicated shelf idea. Especially for the stands setup for all day sits or observation setups. i make my own bow hangers, so far trail cam mounts and light weight accessories i hang them from these. some extend out to 3' but Id like to see what kind of shelf you are talking about jeremy.. -
Started the big project yesterday...

Nice work grow, this is exactly what i intend to do here shortly with one of my plots. build a "fence or barrier" around the one edge of my big plot. Looks like its going to take some work, but with 2 of us it shouldn't be too bad, hoping to make it about 80 yards long. here is a pic for reference lol then hinge cut a bunch up the hill side to the ridge top. Its open hardwoods and you can see through winter spring summer fall.. Deer use the hell out of it, but mainly at night, except daytime activity during early and late season. Will be planting some hard mast in here as well, and possibly some white pine or hemlock on the saddle to the right side -
Thanks, I hope so too. We have a good age structure of bucks all around us Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I don't have his exact location pinned down but I know the area he considers home in the fall, and it's on my neighbors. I think he has a good place there and can watch everyone and pattern them. I had him last year just outside of bow range Halloween morning, and he didn't care for any call I threw him. Guessing that's what happens with age Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Guess I will start the thread for the 2017 Shed Thread.. Here are my finds so far, and I haven't even gone out to purposely shed hunt yet. These just from pulling cards in 2 different food plots. One is a match set of a buck I call "Chunk", he is 8.5 yrs old this pass fall, and has a base on one side that measure 6-6/8". The other is the right side to a buck I call "Whitey" .. I recently started a topic of "Age Him" in the trail cam picture section.. The goal is to start shed hunting in mid February..

All pics are the same deer, that's not doubt. Maybe I could have picked a better 2015 pic but. Same buck in all. His face and nose give it away. Short snout, more gray face than normal. But his body was big in summer he slimmed up a lot during the rut. Probably the reason his gut is not there. But jes a tough one to age I think. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I agree, and if harvested insure will have him aged by jaw. This is the only deer that I'm having a hard time with. His chest is built and his build seems alot like the race horse look they claim of a 3.5.. and I was thinking the same, hoping he will put some growth into those Antlers with a good grow season this coming summer. If not no big deal, I chase age not the Antlers. Maybe I posted not the best pics, I have a ton of him and try to save a ton per deer to grow a profile/history of each buck. I use them to put hole sin my tires on the quads, i mean find them that way. lol Im starting to collect quite a few. Like to use the good ones as decorative pieces on end tables and shelves and such. I actually just found the match set to one of my slobs last night and i think im going to make a European Skull mount with it.
-
After tgoing through a bunch more pics of him, im sticking with 3.5 this year, and see what he becomes next year. hes got a big body. and quite built chest. If his patterns stay the same next year, he should be easy to captur eon film again. as a 4.5 i hope lol aka "hit lister"

Awesome, think ill try one of the dark ops or recon force models and use it strictly for video. Its just a pain to upload a good quality video to anything anywhere. Gotta love trespassers. hope you catch him.

Same here about the night videos. How do you like the dark ops model? Was thinking of that or the recon force. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Brownings are the way to go IMO i have been running cheap alkalines in mine and get atleast 3 months out of them in the summer, slightly less in the winter but they are also taking close to a thousand pics or more every 2 weeks. Going to be putting in lithium's tonight. Wish i could find the strike force on Dicks Sporting Goods website to use my gift card on, I really dont want to sacrifice it on a different new to me camera. Maybe the e2 by bushnell.

I never used the chain b/c i never thought of it. not a bad idea, but id be nervous or tree snapping off somewhere above that point in rela strong winds.., but i did use screw in tree steps (left in the upside down position) for support and to act as a "slide or rail" in case tree movement broke the lag bolts i used to attach frame to tree.
