It's just the Savage axis in 7mm08 topped with nikon 4-12×40. Not a bad gun. Been reliable and accurate. But the triggers between the single shot h&r and savage are very different. I'm not a gun Smith but I like the h&r better. As well as the solid feel of a wood stock gun I like much more than synthetic Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I agree with you there airedale, I like that single shot Henry. I own my first Henry this year, and they are awesome guns. I might save one of those calibers and spend it on the Henry single! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Tara or Tyrone Forage soybean
LET EM GROW replied to LET EM GROW's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
They are nice and pricey but they work great, especially for farmers who really don't want weeds. Local RR ag shatter resistant soybeans were costing me 86$/bag Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -

Yes, the prior years have been RR . Hence the price difference I'm sure. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
Cuddeback Ambush Country IR
LET EM GROW replied to fasteddie's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
I own 2 Cuddeback Ambush IR cams and they worked well, for the 1.5yrs they actually worked. They both died about 2 weeks apart in the middle of this past summer. They both turn on but dont function properly, not even enough to take any pictures. They performed alright when they did run. Not sure if they are the exact same cam as the Ambush Country or not. but seem to be darn close. The detection range on them sucked I think. If the critter is not within 15ft mine wouldn't trigger. Night time pics were ok, daytime pics were ok. But they didnt last very long. And these came straight from Cuddeback on their "Fix With New" Program when I sent 2 broken cuddebacks "back". I think I'm done with Cuddeback, I do not have enough money to play their game lol So instead of doing the fix with new Program (which used to be 50% off a new cam, now its 30%off) ill save the money for another browning or spartan. -
I have been wanting to buy a single shot rifle for a few years now. Idk why but i really really like them, and everyone laughs at me for it lol and idc. It only takes one shot anyways. It would probably be in H&R. 25-06 and .204 calibers they make and have caught my attention for awhile now. I think its the bull barrel and wood stock combo that i like so much. lol who knows maybe more because of their price tag compared to others. My wife's grandfather owns quite a few Ultra rifles and Handi rifles and i like them better than either Savage Axis or Ruger American i own. But at some point this year, ill own my first one..

Tara or Tyrone Forage soybean
LET EM GROW replied to LET EM GROW's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I have a 1.5 acre plot I usually do. But I'm going to talk to the landowner next door that I hunt and basically manage for, and see if I can get 2 or 3 acres of a field or 2 to plant strictly soybeans. So at least a 1.5 acre spot. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
That is wild. I don't think I could imagine that one lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

They sure do, people laughed at me but I surround my beans with Irish spring soap until they are tall enough to withstand some graze pressure. It worked great. Take the soap down. When your ready and after time they start eating it lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
Wow, I was just going to ask you if they had any cover. That's neat. But gotta be brutal for staying any length of time exposed like that. Impressive animals Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

The AG beans will be, I'm not to worried with the forage beans being shatter resiatant. 70$ is still cheaper per bag than I've paid the last 3 years locally. Fine by me lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
That's what I'm leaning more towards. Like a cold vacation. That's cool you got to see that. I'd love to see that someday. But not be in danger lol not very often we see or hear of "dens" which lead me to think for the amount of bears around I don't think there is the equivalent in bear dens . I sure will let you know. I gotta stop researching these things because it changes the way I plan on doing things this growing season lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
I know very little on black bears, actually all bears in general really. But, do black bear here in Southern-tier/Western NY really hibernate in the winters? I always thought they did, but just the other day my brother in law had an adult set and several cub tracks(sow with cubs) walk down his driveway over night. He began to tell me that he didn't think they hibernated, or at least not for very long if they do it all. Again I do not know much about them, I see them and get plenty of pics of them, but never got the interest in learning much more about them.

Anyone ever hear of these "Tara or Tyrone Forage soybeans", or know anything about these or use them? I just found them and did some research, I believe the Tara Forage Soybean is designed for our region, where Tyrone is a group 7. It does not state the maturity group for Tara blend. The product says it can grow over 6ft produce over 40% crude protein. Mossy Oak Biologic i noticed sells them so that kind of worries me. But I think i am going to try them, mix them half and half with 2 Pioneer AG soybeans for winter foods. I have yet to try a forage soy so this will be new to me.. Good price too http://www.taraforagesoybeans.com/

Might have to try this in 2 spots i have that im trying to establish clover. One is a fairly wet logging road that sees sun on and off all day. The other is a long strip i ovrseeded clover into Brassicas last fall that had pretty hard pan of soil. Be interesting to see how it works.

BEAR, especially when you said the cover was on the ground and the camera was marked up. # of my cameras have fallen victim to bears in the past. Their too damn curious of critters!

LET EM GROW replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Turkey Hunting
Im glad they finally made them for 20ga, The only other shell i really enjoyed the pattern from out of a 20ga 870 turkey setup was the Hornady magnum i believe they were. patterned better than any other 20ga turkey load. -
Winchester XR's now available for 20 gauge
LET EM GROW replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Turkey Hunting
I used to shoot just the high velocity #4 3.5" winchester, and they patterned awesom epass 50yrd. Then switched to the extended range, and loved them even more, but cant seem to find them anymore. Now i moved onto the longbeard XR #4 in 3.5 and they perform very well at long range. but have yet to take a shot on a bird with them. I talked with someone last year who loads their own shells with TSS shot (carbide) and uses a 20ga with, #8 or #9 shot(equivalent to #4 and #5 in lead if i remember right) and his patterns are as good or better than mine out of a 20ga. Not sure how the barrel holds up over time but id like to look into this operation. -

Hunting Camp for Sale-Allegany County
LET EM GROW replied to Uncle Nicky's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
I travel this road frequently and know the area fairly well, not sure where exactly your at but the area... Beautiful area with lots of state land around. My buddy just bought land on Leith Rd. Lots of good deer, and lots of big bear. I wish I was ready to buy another piece of land, this is one of the areas i would really like to be. If things go well, im hoping to be ready by the end of this year. -
Very nice BM, awesome story. Its hard but to do, but its much needed from time to time. Just reminiscing in the favorite hunting spots.. I feel you there my friend As for go to guns, Dad handed down to me as a kid, a Mossberg .22 that his father handed down from his father. I don't remember the model and don't have a picture of it on hand, but it was a 1938 mossberg bolt action .22. had the wood stock nearly the whole length of the barrel, and old iron sights. What a smooth tack driving gun that is. Dad was also given a brand new 1st gen Mossberg 500 when he turned 16, and since that day hes deer hunted with it every single year, all season long. I couldnt imagine how many deer, turkey, small game etc.. fell victim to it. Another that really meant alot to me was the Savage 7mm-08 i bought him for X-mas in 2015.. he never fired a rifle in his life and was always a shotgun guy.. it was safe to say he was excited about receiving this gun.. the day never came for him to use it so this gun has been my dedicated deer gun for now. Ive taken several deer with his 12ga. But this gun needs the attention he would have given it.. I had a favorite 12ga Mossberg 500 my father helped me buy when i first turned 18, but i no longer own it.. let my brother borrow it for deer season and he had the bright idea of taking it to the pawn shop when he was done instead of returning it back to me.. along with a couple others..
