Work lets me support my habit. I help them, so they help me lol

Anyone make your own equipment for hunting, food plots, whether it be cultivators, hangers, bow accessories, gun accessories, treestand accessories etc etc.. Some may remember im in the process of designing and making a broadhead based off the rage hypo. and possibly a setup like the magnus stinger 2 blades. if work ever slows down.. But also i made several stabilizers out of plastics, aluminum, carbon, steel and even copper(just for looks lol) all different weights.. tree stands and multi purpose hangers and such. I just thought it would be neat to see everyone's creativeness for anything and everything hunting lol This 2 pics is the latest stabilizer i made out of plastic. I machined it to accept a weighted insert into the i.d. for more weight if needed

I am 30years young, and own several good guns, Browning, TC, Tikka, it means nothing to me, when it comes to NYS whitetail hunting. If I were to go out west or somewhere very cold where I need super reliable, then yes I would only bring the very best I could. But he is hunting in NYS, looking for a deer and bear gun. Every gun in my safe works and has worked flawlessly. He asked for 5-550$ price range. Any combo gun, I will always replace the scope with something better than what comes with, but nothing over the top. Unless it's on the browning or Tikka... The main reason I shoot mathews, is the fact that a very good friend of mine deals them. And I get a deal like no one would believe on any mathews i want. Any new bow comes in, he calls me and wants me to shoot it and give my thoughts.. I bought the z7 brand new when it came out, has been an amazing bow and I have no interest in replacing it, very forgiving smooth and quiet, perfect for the whitetail woods. And I can get 300fps.. Pretty happy with that. No reason to change.. Plus I support him and his business, just as you would to your friends I would hope.. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

We can't all be professionals like you sir.. sorry.... As I mentioned before .. out of my nearly 3 dozen guns, being savages, my rugers, my mossbergs, my t/c's, my remingtons, marlins... they all seem to kill deer just fine and have yet to fail me.. oh and they still shine as you say they dont. I'll take the few hundred dollars I save and spend them on my wife and kids. Don't know why you have to bash everyone's decisions.. oh and I shoot mathews.. I hear you don't like them either.. I agree there bsh, I don't get to hunt near as much as I used to, to get a feel for dominance roles other than. An older deer typically being the bully. Wish I could spend the time again. but I've had it happen in my family farm in 8P Macedon, a few years back. Glad you brought this up. Thanks lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

its crazy how much different body size can be between deer in the 1.5 year old age class.. some are real dinks with tiny and or good head gear, others are much bigger bodied with tiny and or good size head gear for the age structure.. its nice to see what they turn into and then compare them, a year or 2 or more down the road..

We have the savage axis, ruger american, as well as the mossberg patriot. All good guns, quality improves with price but.. for the 300some dollars the several savage axis guns i own have not let me down. Im the kind whos more into quantity than quality when it comes to whitetail guns. as long as they perform. ill spend the extra on my wife and kids lol Can get the nikon 3-9x40 scope for 150$ .270 has taken every big game animal in North America.. For choice in Caliber ... id chose the 25-06 for deer, and a well placed shot with this on a bear wont go far either..

Right, if it was a liver hit and the deer bounded quick then walked away hunched, he wont bed very far from there, and i would want to get out quiet as possible then come back and check. there are a lot of signs deer make and do after the shot, that may help tell you where you hit.. if the deer ran like a bat out of hell when it got out of there, id check the scene sure, but otherwise i wait.. the arrow will be there along with sign.. unless rain or snow fall is on its way My buck last year was single lung and liver hit.. he ran for 10 steps then walked another 20 and bedded down and layed his head right down.. thought he was dead.. he then raised his head up 10 minutes later and layed there.. repeated the process several times until he got up and moved 30 yards and bed down again to do the same dang thing. here i am pinned in the tree..

This is for a friend.. He is wondering what this plant is.. the pics arent the greatest and i personally haven't seen this field.. Thought id ask the knowledgeable crowd here. He said this was planted in mid summer by the farmer. the field was corn last year, this germinated and began growing like an oat and now looks like this.. the deer are hammering it and we cant figure out what it is. again sorry for the tough to tell pictures, its what he sent to me.. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance..

I agree some (for lung hit deer)... But a liver hit deer will bed typically within 50-75 yards of being hit.. that being said. hes going to probably see you or hear you as you check your arrow and the crime scene. its happened to me before. If you are most certain you didnt hit lungs, or the chance was very very minimal that lungs were hit. There is no reason IMO to not wait.. especially during bow season where your chance at a good follow up shot on a bedded wounded deer are very slim. Liver hit deer deserve at least 3 hr minimum to wait. 6 hrs being more accurate i believe. Gut shot deer, ask some of the deer search guys.. they can live up to 24 hours with scrambled up guts.. My rule of thumb, since ive lost 4 pope and young bucks in my teens and early 20's due to tracking to soon.. is if i dont see the deer drop within sight, its a minimum or 1 hr wait. that is if im most certain it was double lung. if it was an iffy shot.. lung/liver.. several hours will have to pass before i check.. I lost a few awesome bucks from trackign to soon.. and i wont do it again as long as i can help that.. Whether you wait an hour or a day.. if you made a killing shot the deer will e there regardless.. and not pressured and pushed form being tracked.. regardless of coyotes. i wont push a deer unless i know ill get a 2nd shot

I habe only managed to get a couple cams up over several mock scrape/licking branches Ive made so far, only checked this cam, this area doesn't see much for buck activity until they start cruising. But seems like it might pay off. I'll set up a couple new cams over these and check the other this week. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Tough to say what happened, the shoulder is the last place any one wants to hit a deer, but it happens. Id def go grid search the whole area, now that many of hours have passed. Kind of sounds like a shoulder or leg hit if he came off the ground like that.. No blood can mean a number of different things depending on the hit location. Ive busted through several shoulder "blades" as i call them and have killed each one. But also have had a big buck take an arrow at 7 yards in that shoulder "knuckle/joint" along with a lung, arrow went in half way and broke, and the deer lived. Saw him the following weekend, limping along on 3 legs with the one shoulder/leg creased up and bound right tight to his chest. Couldnt mistake him.. and missed in the same exact spot the weekend before. Best of luck to you, Hope you find him, keep us posted. We live and learn.. its sad, but its the reality of hunting. We owe it to the game we pursue

The grand slam has the bar and I like even with archery. I just rest my hip against it as I draw and lower so I know I won't hit it with the bow limb. The only thing I don't like is the cheap foot straps for climbing. Def get the better ones and install them Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Haven't used it in awhile but I have the API grand slam deluxe climber. Picked 2 of them up dang near new for 40$ a piece. They are light and simple Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I completely agree with you 100% but, I again spoke with him last night. He pulled the card from that camera in the end of September. Just as he programmed the date and time for reference when checking. I never would have believed it either but. I personally know this man, as he owns property next door to my piece, but lives in PA. Otherwise I wouldn't believe it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

In my opinion this time of year is the best to target a buck. Still on summer feed patterns. Which will end very soon. Until late season the patterns will subside. Out of the bucks I have patterned now, nothing is really making me want to get out there. My wife can fill the freezer. If she doesn't than I will. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

That's the first thing I said about this being farfetched. But he just pulled the card from this camera last week. I've had several bucks hold headgear into early april before but.. not often. I'm sure if she randomly came into heat, I'd like to think a buck can be ready to "plant the seed" at anytime. Though I could be wrong, just a guess on my part Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I'm thinking January or later when she got bred. Fawn in is several months the behind it seems Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Here's a thought for everyone. This is a friend's cam. He lives in PA and the date is correct. When do you think she was bred? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Sent blockers sent blocking clothing can they really work ?
LET EM GROW replied to LJC's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Heres my take on Scent Blocker clothing. and experience lol. it is only used to keep the smell of your under garments(everything under that jacket/pants) trapped inside and not getting out. you still have to keep the outside scent free, along with any other odors you may have that you can control. In my experience if the carbon layers are activated on the suit properly. It works great. the reason I say so is the following lol: After a night of eating at Bins Bins in bath the Chinese buffet. I had a sudden build up of gas hit me like a ton of bricks. With deer actually within bow range, i didn't dare "let it rip".. eventually the deer wandered off and the pressure was still present. So i relieved myself. Curious to see if the carbon layers worked or not after a fresh wash and low heat activate cycle. I never smelled it, and i knew it was a good one that should have some stank. lol not to be gross. Took my suit off a couple hours later and gah i tell you what, that thing had hang time!! i couldn't hardly breathe! No this is not a joke lol True story needless to say i re activated the carbon layers in case any "clogging" occurred lol other than that, if one keeps any type of clothing as scent free as possible, and can control bodily functions.. it will work just as good! -
I got a trail cam pic of a young buck mounting a doe couple weeks ago. But her head was down and she was feeding the whole time in every pic. So i think he had no idea what he was even doing. lol his head was stuck in her a$$, if he wasn't already trying to get on top of her.. Dont think any breeding actually took place. He's probably the does offspring from the year before lol. Scummer.. Some sparring in pics here and there..
