  1. Initially I thought this idea was awesome. But the more I got to thinking about it. Of your clover plot is already well established. Adding another source or seed whether it's for food or not. Is just adding competition for nutrients and sunlight. I know it's used as a nurse crop for young clovers but, unless it doesn't effect the established clovers growth. I think I'd rather leave it be than add any grains into the mixture. Unless my plot was full of weeds, maybe spray the weeds and then spread rye or wheat.. I do always use wheat, rye or oats when establishing new clovers though Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  2. I shoot Rage Hypodermics, before these i shot Rage original 2 blade. They haven't failed me yet in the 7 years I've used them
  3. M bucks usually disperse come beginning middle September. Happens every year. Probably because my property doesnt hold to many bucks, mostly doe. Bucks are normally spending most their time on the neighbors. Buck pics usually pic back up for me come mid October.. I think they move to their core areas now, which is much smaller than the "Home range" or however you word it.. lol
  4. At first i said different, but im saying same deer now. Doesnt seem to have grown a ton, but the frame and sticker, the ear and crab claw all seem to be about the same as year before but somewhat bigger this year..
  5. So I didn't have enough to do my clover plots but they looked good anyways.. plus the weeds grow slower as the temps cool Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  6. Was hoping to get some more Pear and Apple trees in the ground this Fall, But im not sure if ill be able to. My Apples are more than Mature and not going to live forever..
  7. Friend of mine did this with Buckwheat he thought he had killed off, After planting Double Beam he had to mow it down to keep the buckwheat from shading out the Brassicas.. They took right off afterwards(with decent rains)
  8. Just watched this video, and i like it. Makes sense. Im going to the property after work quick today, to spread the rest of my Winter Rye before the rain tomorrow.. I might just spread it over as much of my clover plot as i can cover also.. I just mowed my Clover on Labor Day. So Ill see what it looks like this evening and make the call, and pull the card from that cam. I think i have done pretty good for the first full year of Maintaining my Clovers, with zero herbicides used.. instead of turning them under for a planting of Brassicas..
  9. Those are just decoys your moving around, always posing for your cameras lol
  10. They are out all year long here, gotta bait em more gooder than the neighbors lol!!
  11. That's great. I Haven't seen winter rye around us in a long time. They seem to hammer my oats, hopefully they will this too. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  12. Possibly, I spray then disc all the time. If there is time before seeding and weeds are emerging I'll spray again. But that usually never happens. Maybe you didn't kill everything off as well as hoped Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  13. Not sure but that def stinks, maybe mow it real high to promote sunlight and growth to your plants Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks, Ive spent a many years planting them. Have been through the trial and errors a time or twelve lol. I have one plot that did get seeded a tad heavy somehow but is still doing great, probably 12-16" tops Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  15. Hopefully they don't. In case they did I'm going to seed another 10 or 20lbs on it tomorrow. 100% rain Wednesday and in the future as well. Just to make sure. I do get turkeys quite often back there. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  16. Equipment is down, so all I did was over seed it over a good damp seed bed, then got good rain the following day. Broadcast heavy Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  17. I had a plot that didnt do well at all, planted it brassicas, and with all my equipment being down i knew it wouldnt do well but i tried it. I got about 20% germination from the brassicas. This plot is a "go to" spot for deer activity and i really like to have a food source here, so Friday i stopped and grabbed a 56# bag of winter rye and covered this plot. It is about 1/3 acre in size. We Got rain the day before and again Saturday night. Hopefully it germinates some. Has anyone ever planted Winter Rye and have good luck, with deer being attracted to it? This was a last minute decision, I usually do Forage Oats but I didnt have time to get any..
  18. I laughed out loud as well, and cant stop laughing hahaha!!
  19. I travel County route 37 once in awhile on my way home down to Springwater/Wayland Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  20. Our ponds are down a foot or so still too, which leads our creeks to be all dry yet unless rain recently came through. But we get just enough every week or 2 to keep them growing some Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  21. Dang dry summer. I drive from Hornell, NY to Palmyra NY everyday for work. And in my travels, it seems everything from Naples and south is much greener than North of Naples. I hunt a piece in Sodus NY and my family farm in Macedon. The southerntier got some more rain throughout August where must be the northern half of the finger lakes did not. Ours (Central Steuben) is real dry still too, but not as bad. Theres a fine line from Bristol across to southern Middlesex,North Naples that has the grass very dry and burnt looking.. Hopefully this past Saturdays rain and possibly this Wednesdays rain will help.
  22. I'm going to plant turnips right besides rutabaga next year. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  23. Wow, just seems way early to me for tuber growth. I never see tubers until end of September usually Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  24. Grow, these were planted in early august and have tubers on them already? How so? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  25. My buddy has a photography business, and follows all sorts of race across the country(MX, car races, atvs etc..) and does shoots for tons of people as well as articles. He just bought one to follow racers around the track, but to also do surveillance of properties as well. He told me he would like to come up and do a fly over my property, free of charge, to get better with it, I of course had no problem with it, i just asked him if we can do it when the leaves begin to change and the food plots are nice and lush green. I think this would make for some beautiful pics. Also, going to do a few of the neighbors properties as well. Im really looking forward to it.. Hes been practicing alot with it and trying to stalk all sorts of critters with it as well. lol
