  1. Some guys don't mean to be unsafe they just make snap decisions that get them in trouble... thats the part that AR's can fix.. makes the hunter take the time to look before he shoots. I'm sure most everyone on this forum has shot at a running deer at some point.. which is one of the most unsafe things you can do in the field..they probably did it without thinking how unsafe it is..you can't follow a deer with your gun and watch whats behind your target at the same time.
  2. wildcat... everyone can take a good lesson from what you did.. good for you...
  3. If your shooting a bow you never know when that sucker will fall out of tune.. if nothing else you need to shoot it because of that. Its not about the ability to shoot the bow.. if the bow isn't properly in tune it won't shoot correctly. The more gadgets you have on your bow the more you need to check it.
  4. I think the 180 theory is probably the best too
  5. That bad boy will be pushing 150 class
  6. I'm all for managing ones land naturally... not much for big food plots or the south texas type "deer farming". If its all done naturally with a good AR and doe harvest plan..I think its a great idea.
  7. I was tracking a buck in about an inch of snow with my bow.. I had to go through a small brushy area so I took my arrow off the bow and held it in my hand.. as I came out of the brush there was the buck coming right at me from the woods with his nose on the ground.. I had no time to nock the arrow so I just stood there frozen with my bow in one hand and the arrow in the other. The buck walked up to within ten feet of me, stopped and looked up at me... i didn't move.. he didn't move...it was a beautiful 8-pointer he slowly took a few steps backwards, turned and started walking away.. I tried to nock the arrow but he made it to the brush before I could get my bow on him.. i tried tracking him again but the snow melted as I was tracking him and I never saw that buck again.. what a moment though!
  8. I would like to thank the guys that submitted stories and pics to my site... keep them coming fellas.. Good Luck
  9. The measure of a good hunt still isn't about the number of points....8-point 10-point 12-point.. all are ok
  10. Haha .. I'd have no problem saying anything to you in person brush... it IS quite the same for me face to face as well... fortunately for me you don't travel in my circle... I love a good debate and I can tell that a lot of the guys on here have a good knowledge of whitetail deer even though or opinions may be different.. you on the other hand have the least amount of whitetail deer knowledge of any hunter I have ever met... you are merely dillusional. Sorry guys.. I'm not much usually for insults but this guy is a dope.
  11. Most of the taste of venison is how its prepared.. give any good chef some venison and I'll bet ya he can make it taste great.. whats the old saying?.. You can bake a boot in the oven but that don't make it biscuts..lol
  12. Has anyone else ever hunted PA? I have.. and it was never and maybe never will be the whitetail capital of the world..haha.. it may have had the largest population of spikehorns, and under weight whitetail in the world. PA has never been known for the quality of its whitetails.. Even older bucks there were of low weight and spindly racks...mainly because of hunters with the mindset of brushbuster.
  13. way off again brushbuster.. but i must say you are entertaining. Remind me of some of my old-timer friends from up north!
  14. I think we really agree more often than not.. i think I came on a bit too strong early on.. my apologies
  15. Oh I can assure you they are very active.. I am a measurer and the emcee for the annual dinner.
  16. Very good character.. excellent deer
  17. I still haven't hear to many answer the question posed.. and my answer still is.. Nothing
  18. Don't try to explain things to brushbuster.. he has trouble understanding simple things
  19. Even with 10' snow in tug hill... (where I have a camp by the way). If the deer can get fattened up enough early on they can survive the worst winter... its when they are competing for food and there isn't enough browse is when the problem occurs.. usually caused by more deer than available food.
  20. Newbreed do you know her.?. I would love to get that story for my website
