I first learned of this score from an NYSBBC measurer... yet nobody in the club knows who measured yet. The article doesn't mention whether it is a typical score or non-typical score.. or whether it is a gross score or net score. Just that it scores 205-7 green. If in fact it is a legit typical net score it will become the biggest typical ever taken in NYS, as well as the Biggest Archery typical ever. .. and the first buck to ever hold both distinctions in NYS.

Been there, done that... it sucks... but unfortunately is a part of hunting sometimes.

I would guess 2 as well... still some transition definition between the neck and chest usually still present in 2 year old. Some serious potential in that buck!
-
Yes, I figured that would go without saying... on second thought I probably should have mentioned that
-
Yes, that buck would be in contention for the NYS archery nontypical record... yet there is no record of it other than this photo. It is nearly impossible for a buck this large to fly under the radar of the big buck club whether scored or not... this is the first I've seen this buck, which would be impossible with a buck this size. Very unlikely it is a wild NY buck.

Your best bet in the ADK's will be on snow... it is the easiest way to get yourself on some deer. But remember with the snow comes some tougher challenges and some added cold weather gear. It is a bit harder to get lost seeing how you can usually backtrack yourself out of the woods as a last resort. The big woods are NOTHING like hunting smaller patches of southern tier woods.... be prepared!

The buck in the OP could be a contender for the NY typical archery record... but not a 200 inch buck and has not yet been officially scored.

The guy might be from long island , but I'm pretty sure the buck is not.

Looking at oneself sometimes is a good thing... sometimes they learn that they are the type of person that likes to blame others for their short comings and difficulties in life. All the issues they have are caused by someone else or society. I have found that when people tend to blame others for their plight it's usually because they fail to accept the reoccurring common denominator in all of their issues... themselves!

Getting in range of small bucks and does with a bow while stalking is not as difficult as you might think, but getting close to a big boy is extremely difficult... especially 20 yards and in. I have stalked many a big buck to 10-15 yards only to find no place to get an arrow through. Even harder if you use a call to help cut the distance because a big buck will use every precaution to use cover when coming in until he sees what he thinks he heard... while trying to get down wind of the where the call came from. I can say that, whether you kill the buck or not, the experience is about as jacked up as a hunter can get on a hunt.

I don't advocate charging guys for shooting deer, but I would love to get the name of your taxidermist that does a good mount for a lot less than $450..
-
Shooting mature bucks is a much better idea than a point restriction. A good rule of thumb is... if you are questioning whether it is mature enough to shoot... don't pull the trigger.

What ever happened to "Mind your own business!" ????

Once a buck grows the antler it remains unless it is broken off... which will leave evidence of it having been there. The bucks you are seeing during the season probably are not the same bucks you had on camera.

NRA Sues Cuomo
nyantler replied to ADK Native's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You still have your guns... that's what they have done. I can't make you see what you refuse to see. So please do carry on and the NRA will continue to fight the fight while you sit and watch, complaining from the sidelines. -
NRA Sues Cuomo
nyantler replied to ADK Native's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
My post was about the failure of gun owners to get to the voting booth to vote out Cuomo and then blaming the NRA for failing. Not sure how you get from that to big business. Let your heart not be troubled... your wish of living in a fantasy world is real. Financing the largest 2nd Amendment advocate in the world is doing something... they are the single reason there still is a 2nd Amendment in this country... I have gone to numerous rallies and I'll bet you dime to donuts you weren't there. Lots of people talking the talk, very little walking the walk. -
NRA Sues Cuomo
nyantler replied to ADK Native's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This is the real reason the NRA has abandoned NY... NY gun owners alone could have voted Cuomo out of office, but instead apathy prevailed. Based on some of the negative NRA comments here and gun owner voting records in NY it is easy to see that the NRA is not the problem... ignorant, apathetic, cry baby, do nothing gun owners are. -
Yeah just that time of year when deer change their coats and look scraggly.

I went from a manhatten made with Crown Royal to just pouring a glass of Crown and waving the vermouth over the glass. I'm a straight whiskey on the rocks guy now with a 4 glass limit. Whiskey is like women's breasts... one is not enough and three is too many

There ya go... you made a decision to live with democrats without shooting them on sight. We should give predators the same respect.
-
Okay.. the "Belpist" thing is funny!!! Belo.. you gotta admit that was funny!

I wasn't speaking to the den... I am speaking to the attitude of many on here towards predators in general.. and stand by what I said... and if you don't like mountain lions, don't live in mountain lion country.
