  1. Haven't heard of this one yet
  2. I never thought the time before plastic bags was all that bad... paper bags worked fine for years. Seems the tree huggers embraced plastic to save the trees without any regard for the consequences of billions of pounds of discarded plastic bags floating around in the ocean. Just like when plastic bottles replaced perfectly adequate glass bottles. Not sure what people call progress necessarily works out always for the better.
  3. love your strings Steve... durable and beautiful.. quality made
  4. Legalizing marijuana is fine. But don’t ignore the science on its dangers... just like alcohol.
  5. Laws are not meant as an "answer" to deer management. They are just a way to help minimize the negative effects on the group(s) involved and compensate for the the lack of knowledge most hunters have on what good deer management is. Educating hunters and setting minimal, agreed on, standards for both managing the herds (and habitats) is actually a far better way to achieve real progress. Keeping in mind also that deer hunting has evolved into more than "just" a conservation issue. When you throw in hunting traditions, maintaining interest in the public to continue hunting, and the economic factors and the issue becomes much more complicated than just a simple law or set of laws. The mindset and involvement of hunters along with their cooperation suddenly becomes very important
  6. Knowing who it was, he'd find me at his front door and he and I would have a "discussion" about things.
  7. I first learned of this score from an NYSBBC measurer... yet nobody in the club knows who measured yet. The article doesn't mention whether it is a typical score or non-typical score.. or whether it is a gross score or net score. Just that it scores 205-7 green. If in fact it is a legit typical net score it will become the biggest typical ever taken in NYS, as well as the Biggest Archery typical ever. .. and the first buck to ever hold both distinctions in NYS.
  8. Been there, done that... it sucks... but unfortunately is a part of hunting sometimes.

  11. I would guess 2 as well... still some transition definition between the neck and chest usually still present in 2 year old. Some serious potential in that buck!
  12. Yes, I figured that would go without saying... on second thought I probably should have mentioned that
  13. Yes, that buck would be in contention for the NYS archery nontypical record... yet there is no record of it other than this photo. It is nearly impossible for a buck this large to fly under the radar of the big buck club whether scored or not... this is the first I've seen this buck, which would be impossible with a buck this size. Very unlikely it is a wild NY buck.
  14. Your best bet in the ADK's will be on snow... it is the easiest way to get yourself on some deer. But remember with the snow comes some tougher challenges and some added cold weather gear. It is a bit harder to get lost seeing how you can usually backtrack yourself out of the woods as a last resort. The big woods are NOTHING like hunting smaller patches of southern tier woods.... be prepared!
  15. The buck in the OP could be a contender for the NY typical archery record... but not a 200 inch buck and has not yet been officially scored.
  16. The guy might be from long island , but I'm pretty sure the buck is not.
  17. Looking at oneself sometimes is a good thing... sometimes they learn that they are the type of person that likes to blame others for their short comings and difficulties in life. All the issues they have are caused by someone else or society. I have found that when people tend to blame others for their plight it's usually because they fail to accept the reoccurring common denominator in all of their issues... themselves!
  18. Getting in range of small bucks and does with a bow while stalking is not as difficult as you might think, but getting close to a big boy is extremely difficult... especially 20 yards and in. I have stalked many a big buck to 10-15 yards only to find no place to get an arrow through. Even harder if you use a call to help cut the distance because a big buck will use every precaution to use cover when coming in until he sees what he thinks he heard... while trying to get down wind of the where the call came from. I can say that, whether you kill the buck or not, the experience is about as jacked up as a hunter can get on a hunt.
  19. I don't advocate charging guys for shooting deer, but I would love to get the name of your taxidermist that does a good mount for a lot less than $450..
  20. Shooting mature bucks is a much better idea than a point restriction. A good rule of thumb is... if you are questioning whether it is mature enough to shoot... don't pull the trigger.
  21. What ever happened to "Mind your own business!" ????
  22. Once a buck grows the antler it remains unless it is broken off... which will leave evidence of it having been there. The bucks you are seeing during the season probably are not the same bucks you had on camera.
