  1. at least 3.5...can't tell much more without the jawbone... that is a BIG BIG 8... just a great buck!
  2. What a buck! That is a brute!! HUGE 8!!!!
  3. If you are blind calling you can't over call as long as you keep each sequence far enough apart... giving enough time for a deer in range to react to the call if they're going to... if you're trying to call a buck in that you have in your vision you can watch to see his reaction to know if you need to make another call... if they aren't reacting .... you need to call louder or sometime more aggressively... and even then he may act like he doesn't hear the call... I've called in more bucks than I can count.. and one thing I'll say is that you never know what will happen when calling... but I'll also say that there were some big bucks that I never would have killed without my grunt call... I never go in the woods without it.
  4. Here is the link to the donation website... info and a page to locate a processor near you http://www.venisondonation.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=71
  5. There are many participating processors out there where you can donate to the Venison Donation Drive... just drop off the deer and the butcher will take it from there... you will receive a receipt from him for a tax deduction based on the # of pounds donated. The meat stays in your local area where it is given to local soup kitchens to feed the needy... it's one of those programs where 100% of your donation goes directly to those that need it... and it is greatly appreciated.
  6. I donate at least one deer a year.. and all the ground meat from every deer I harvest... it is a great feeling to help. Good for you Growie...
  7. Definitely frustrating Doc... maybe our last best chance to send a real message to the state from gun owners... I can't see gun owners being taken seriously from this point on in NY... It's kind of like the apathy has created a much deeper hole for us that will be much more difficult to get out of in the future... I suppose our hopes for humanity are much higher than humanity's ... can't imagine how, with 6 million gun owners in NY, we couldn't have sent a booming roar across NY on election day... instead we have been reduced by apathetic gun owners to a whisper.
  8. I really had hopes of a much better turn out from gun owners... nearly 6 million in this state... if half had come out to vote against Cuomo we would have had a new governor and gotten a chance to repeal the Safe Act... like a true conservative I deal with reality... and the reality is that the apathy in this state runs so rampant... the rest of us paying attention and who care don't stand a chance... if it was 1776 we would be on our way to continued British rule... and some of us true fighters for our Constitutional 2nd amendment right would be dead from battle or on our way to a firing squad... the rest of the apathetic gun owners would be kissing the kings ass.
  9. Northwoods & Waters Camden.. great work.. but not cheap... I'd highly recommend him.
  10. That's it in a nutshell... they have been saying the same things for 50 years and still nothing has been done to secure the border.... can only mean one thing... they like it just the way it is.
  11. Told my wife I'm at the speed limit (55)... but that means next year I'll be speeding!!!
  12. wouldn't have kept me from voting that day... I would have already cast my ballot by the time they caught it... and if I wasn't who I said I was they wouldn't have remembered what I looked like...damage already done... all avoided by ID's at the voting booth
  13. Happy Birthday Bill... all the good guys must have been born Nov. 6th..
  14. Yeah I know you aren't one of the complainers... but I stand by what I said... at least you had the guts to be truthful about not voting and give a reason why? I still don't understand it... but I can respect your guts to not hide from it. But based on the fact that you didn't vote and fight to help your fellow gun owners... I wouldn't want to be trapped in a fox hole with you... can't trust a man that won't stand with his fellow gun owners.
  15. That is your right... but I promise I will give you crap every time you so much as mention an issue that bothers you about the Safe Act, or taxes etc.... in fact I'll save myself the trouble and just tell you to shut up now... you had your chance to complain yesterday with a vote... if you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem. Nothing personal... I would do that to my best friends.
  16. That's great that the crossbow allowed him to get back in the woods and get a deer
  17. To make sure you're the person signing your name at that voting station... remember laws aren't just made to solve a current problem.. they are also made to combat a future problem. With the large amount of illegals in the country and those coming in every day and with the current surge of politicians sucking up to them... it is a great idea to avoid any future problems. I remember back when I registered... I filled out the registration form off to the side with nobody present... when I handed it in nobody even checked to see my license or my SS card to make sure the numbers were real.
  18. It would be interesting to know how many members of this forum did not vote and why... I bet its a majority.
  19. I respectfully disagree.. with only about 40% of the population having voted... this was a case where if every gun owner had gotten out to vote there might have been a different result...
  20. With only around 40% of the population voting... many gun owners didn't even cast a ballot... some folks just don't think it's important enough... yet I'm sure there will be those that didn't take the time to vote that will be here complaining about the next big push against gun owners in NY... I know its their right NOT to vote.. just like its my right to say "If you couldn't take the time to vote, then SHUT UP... I don't want to hear it."
  21. I've never rinsed a deer out in my life... never had an issue.
  22. That's a BIG spike all right!!
