  1. Oh yeah. I was supposed to cook dinner. Leftovers it is!
  2. Law and Pygmy, they are just jealous because because you out fished them in one day compared to their whole season.
  3. Wooly, looks like you are hunting from a silo. If the deer can't get in you can't shoot them.
  4. I was thinking that as well. That's why I suggested an actual campground if possible. Lotta gear to buy ( if you don't have it already ) and set up to find out it's not for you.
  5. I hope not! Wasn't Hinkley obsessed with Reagen? Look how that turned out.
  6. Oven: 200 degrees for 4-5 hours. Gas Grill: Cut the rack in half, gook over med for 15-20 minutes. then turn off one side and cook low and slow until done. Usually 4-5 hours. Oven & Grill: In the oven at 200 for 3 hours, and hour on the grill on the side with no heat. Camp Coals ( have plenty of cold beer for this one as it's work ) : Get a really good pile of coals, slow cook the ribs over coals about 13-16 inches over the coals. Feed the coals with wood when needed ( add smoking chips if desired ) and rotate ( not flip ) the ribs every 30 minutes for about 5-6 hours, add sauce, let cook for another 40 minutes or until done, add more sauce and let them rest for 20 minutes. Smoked and grilled are good, but thee are the best IMO.
  7. I meant shortening the barrel. Guns are an addiction. I have bought 4 in the past year.
  8. The list of gear is almost endless. First aid kit, a good one! Duct tape, I always a keep some with me in the woods. Extra ammo, spare gloves at least 3 or 4 pairs. A good book as nights are long. Axe or hatchet, saw, plenty of water proof matches. This list of gear will grow as more people chime in.
  9. There are a lot of people here with experience in the ADK's. A DIY trip is always fun. I would check with a few sites in the area's Buckmaster mentioned. Most of the state campgrounds close up 10/10 for the season. Lewey Lake might allow access to hunters for hunting that late. This might be a good option as it would only be about a 4-5 hour drive. If you are going full DIY, prep well. Just figure out where, research, and check maps. Most state land allows you to stay for 3 nights without a permit, but longer then that you need one ( they used to be free ). Not all are the same and I would check to make sure. Gear is a huge factor. I would get a good 4 season tent, cold weather sleeping bag, really good sleeping pad, and a small propane stove, two compasses, maps of the area, just to name a few things.
  10. Are you looking to do a DIY hike in camping and hunting or rent a cabin?
  11. Did you? Or did Larry make sure the camera was angled better this time?
  12. There are so many options to us these days it be daunting to choose. The only other advice I can add that hasn't been said is, many times the right gun will pick you. The weight, feel, and caliber will line up and the next thing you know, it's in the cabinet or safe. Remember also, guns are like potato chips, one will never be enough. Good luck and let us know what you buy.
  13. GUYS! I thought we had a pact to only talk about this stuff on the "other site". Now I have to get all my "accidental spills" out of the woods.
  14. I think once they get the ecstasy supply in it will be game on. I usually don't play along on this one, but I say beginning of November - mid December.
  15. https://www.jimsformalwear.com/styles/Camouflage-Tuxedo http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Camo-Sport-Coat/RM00018_____GREN_38___RG__,default,pd.html?cmp=ppc_us_GG_pla_AllProducts&gclid=COWG58fpjM8CFdZahgod0-UFbg I just use the stuff from Wallyworld. Coat, long sleeve tees a little big so I can fit a sweatshirt or fleece under it, and pants big enough for long john bottoms and a pair of sweat pants. Boots are the big one, but my boots were only $70 and keep my feet warm for as long as I am able to sit for with a pair of wool sox.
  16. Actually to "over hunt" means to harvest to many deer, or other game. Never heard 'over sit', but when I think about it, I would say it means to over pressure the buck, to hunt him too hard. As already mentioned, his patters will change soon. Try to have a few set ups depending on wind. Make sure you have more then one route to your spots so he doesn't pattern you as grampy mentioned. Hunt him for a day, give a rest for a day or two. It may not take long for an older wiley buck to move or go nocturnal over night.
  17. A single shot will keep you honest. From what Buckmaster7600 has said on here ( and my being intrigued and looking it up ) a slight loss off accuracy and velocity, but not much, a gain in recoil and muzzle blast.
  18. Burton Honcho 155cm board in wide waist width for bigger feet/heavier person, with Burton Custom bindings, Dakine stomp pad and leash, and a Burton soft board bag. Board had old school full camber and is great for everything on the mountain except the pipe. Ridden 8 times. Mint condition. Don't want to sell it but, it is what it is. $275 Not shipping local pick up only. Drop me a PM if interested.
  19. Hadn't seen this until just now. This site has some great people on it, and yes the information and general willingness to help others out is awesome. That's what it's all about.
  20. Nice of you to admit the only reason you come here is to annoy people, and now you are recruiting and encouraging it. As for the best state land with the lowest pressure, there's plenty. But, you have an offer to hunt Sterling forest with our resident expert so take him up on that.
  21. Shed. I would insulate it and add some paneling inside. Don't forget you will have to build an out hose though.
