As mentioned, be patient and make sure you have a GPS and a compass and map. Batteries die, especially in really cold temps. So a back-up isn't an option. Be prepared and don't take the ADK's lightly. Are the deer more skittish? Yes! If you get out of the suburban areas they will hear, smell, and see you way before you know they were even there. IF you find out they were there.

Thanks wooly. It was great to be in the mountains. Watching that storm from the porch was pretty cool. Watching the lightning light up the lake was awesome. For anyone who has never heard a severe thunder storm in a high elevation, you are missing out. It's loud due to the cleaner air, and you can hear the thunder travel across mountain tops and through valleys. Hard to explain how far it travels. But one clap can roll around for a full minute or longer. If it had just been thunder and light rain I would have tried fishing for bullheads. But, I don't mess with water when lightning is involved. LOL

Nice NFA-ADK. Did you camp on one of the island sites or in another area?

It was a good trip. Monday night we had a massive thunder and lighting storm that lasted about 2 hours. Forgot how loud rain is on a metal roof. LOL The g/f's dad was enjoying just catching fish, I wanted a few for the pan. But, it's called fishing not catching. The baby birds were the object of discussion quite a bit. I named them little peepers. Odd thing is we didn't see a single Loon ( except other campers and our selves of course ). A momma duck with her babies. On the drive home today we saw a bunch of turkeys crossing RT30, a few had poults. I forgot how much I love being in the middle and upper ADK's.

Nice! -
The trip was OK. Cabins are very close to each other. Fishing stunk! I heard a lot about Indian Lake being great fishing. If you have a boat to get to deep water for the trout or hit the coves and points for bass and pike. We mainly caught 3-5" Rock Bass and Small mouth Bass. The biggest was around 9". Great food, and lots of beer! The g/f took more pics so once she gets them from the camera to her PC I have a few more.

Nice pics wooly! Wooly, you should sell some of your pics dude. You probably already know but as long as the pic is a certain size you can sell as a print on Deviant Art art. Don't let the name of the site fool you ( they have all sorts of art ), some great photographers and artists make a dime or two over there. Especially natural outdoor pics. Especially if you can use high end programs like Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. A few good free ones are GIMP, and even Paint.Net. to enhance the image. Just putting it out there, why not make a buck or two to go with your lamps.

"Women"? Plural? NICE! -
Thanks Trail153. Mainly looking for ammo. I really wish we could just order it.

Selkirk. Not way out in the boonies, but good enough for me. Yep. Now I want a gold rimmed Bills glass. LOL
-
Awesome mount TC! Just don't let anyone sit under it. If it falls that mount might become the hunter. J/K

My beer glasses consist of 4 Slipknot, 4 Avenged Sevenfold, 3 Robs Tavern, 1 Long Trail, and the Stella pretty glass I just bought. I will be buying a few Bills glasses, to go with the mix. But no, no teams that play in Jersey and call themselves NY. I will admit, I would rather drink a beer from a Jets glass then Giants glass.

We haven't moved in yet. Ours is older as well, '85 and needs some updating. I can't recall exact dimensions right now, sorry. Lot on my mind. It's a single wide 14 x?. It's a nice home in what seems like a good park. Our first 'official' night living there will be July 2nd. We have an eat in kitchen, a nice living room with a bar for separation, complete with an over head wine glass holder. That wine glass thing don't mean didly to me. My beer glasses still have to be in a cupboard. LOL

Yep! We don't get meat from there, well, except the dogs chickens. But bread and so on, good prices and not bad product. Produce and fruit are touch and go.

That's why I told Uptown to join nyfirearms. Maybe they can get through where we are failing. -

Sausage and onions on the grill. This was the first lighter day I have had in a week so I was to lazy to take a pic.
-
Yep, been to a few in the metro area. There's B&D Gunsmoke in Rotterdam, Taylor & Vadney, Upstate Guns And Ammo, American Shooter Supply, and a few others.
-
No, never been to Zacks. Sort of in the opposite direction I was looking for.

I have two. My left eye and my right eye. Three if both eyes are open. I go back and forth, but moving made my decision for me. I will most likely be primarily hunting public land for a few years. Not leaving anything on public land. Except, used TP. It's biodegradable.
