  1. I get all the points made here. The speeding? If I get a speeding ticket, it only makes me look bad. Not an entire community...Anyway...... I still have to agree with Biz though. The law is what it is, and should be followed. My thought is extending the time might work out for the morning, but not the evening. It will most likely increase the amount of "lost" deer. Making a good shot in low light, is hard. Shooting at a dark mass and making a clean hit just won't happen in many cases. Shadows play tricks. That in my book is a big deal. Tracking a deer you shot 20 minutes after sunset would be a pain.
  2. Really? I am in NY? LOL Those may be the harshest, but are possible. Most of us do get to our stand/sits at least 1/2 hour before light. My point was about shooting after hours, would you be pissed off or just deal with the fact you did something wrong if you got caught? Not a hard question to answer, and my post was surely not enough to get the hairs ruffled. If it did.................. Stop wearing a thong, they get twisted easy, and try Prozak......I learned in the past few weeks here, that getting all worked up about things won't get your point across. It's NY. Not like we all don't have attitudes...
  3. Well, ask yourself a question...... If you get caught shooting after legal hours, are you going to be pissed that you got fined, or worse they arrest you, impound your car/truck, or put a lean on your house, and take your hunting license? Or are you going to accept you broke the law and just deal with the consequences? Remember, hunting is a privilege, not a right.
  4. I agree as well. This is a good point. How will they handle 5,500 people openly making a stand against gun laws. Could get really volatile really fast.
  5. This is a good question. Always better to set up a portable blind before the season. There are situations where I think they might work on a daily basis though. Will be interesting to see what other people say.
  6. What are "Not So Normal Targets"?
  7. First off, watch your mouth! I did not insult you, I made a contradiction to what you posted. Even after 20 years, the odds are good some of those seer may be the same deer. The bucks may have just matured and not have been killed.
  8. After re-reading this.............400 deer in 4J? In one season? In one area? This is the first time I am gonna call BS!
  9. LOL. He said in the title 4J. They all moved to 4F.
  10. I think most people are looking at this part of your post. The part in red. Patience. Sorry you lost that deer. Best luck on the next hunt.
  11. Camo patters come, camo patters go. the above quote was taken from this article: http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/gun-nuts/2012/07/camouflage-follies I remember when they tried to pull off camo for fishing. the BASS paid no attention, they wear bright red shirts ( on some teams ) and still use sparkling/metallic silver boats. We use camo to try and conceal movement. Deer ( most animals ) don't see the color spectrum like we do. They see ultraviolet colors well though. So a light coat of UV Killer meant for fabric can do far more than the actual camo pattern. I watched a vid last week on YouTube, and the dude was killing deer all over the place wearing "Tiger Stripe" fatigues. I will look for that vid and post the link when I find it.
  12. That would only take about a month of coding. LOL
  13. I could see this as a retro collectors item. I just can't see it going to far as a hunters bow. They took the ecc wheel as far as they could. Or...Did they? Who knows... I can't see this as an option for hunters these days. At least not in a brand new off the rack bow.
  14. I have a mint condition Ameristep Bone Collector Deluxe with about 18 screw in steps, and an extra camo ratchet strap for sale or trade. The stand is in mint condition. Used twice, and never left out. It was put up and taken down the same day. The second day was this afternoon. It was taken right back down. It's just to big, bulky, and heavy to set up alone. That and the fear of heights I have developed over the past 4 years just keeps me from being able to use it. I am not shipping. Please do not ask. I would consider a trade for a ground blind of = value. Asking price with the x-tra steps and extra ratchet is $100. The safety harness is still like new as well. No falls. No stress. Like I said, would also trade for a ground blind, but no "dog house blinds"! A two man blind I can sit in and draw my bow without hassle. Drop me a PM if interested.
  15. You mean early bow season. I will continue to hunt with my bow until I tag out, or the late bow season ends. I only hunt with a bow to the only difference for me is during the regular season I have to shoot a buck.
  16. Are they dong a "retro" collectors type thing? Or Just an old ecc wheel bow for 2 grand?
  17. Congrats on the deer. You are a top notch lady for helping that man out!
  18. This makes no sense! You are running in circles, and will never catch your tail. You have no proof the people are actually on that land. So, therefore, you cannot prove poaching is going on. Lighting up a field is not poaching. Have they literally killed animals on 'your' land? Do you hear shots at night? Is it 'your' land? You can keep ignoring me, I don't care. But you should at least think about what you are saying. It seems like you just want a reason to harass other people who you "THINK" are doing you wrong.
  19. Thank you. That thread is more about where people are going and what they killed. Let me get more direct here. As per a few threads I have posted, my g/f doesn't hunt. But, we spent a nice 4 days in VT in the Killington area in Sept.. I would have rather been there when the lifts were running, but it was a great weekend. We stayed in a very nice Inn that bordered some VT State Land, and the Appalachian Trail. She is more then willing to go back up to that area when I can fish and hunt. So last night when we were talking about it, I was pretty stoked. Tonight, just to make sure she was still serious, I asked again. She is still cool with the whole thing. I looked up the regs for fishing, hunting, today. But now seeing it's after office hours, I can't call. Which I will do regardless. I was just curious if anyone could offer advice, and to let me know If I have the regs correct. Moose are on a draw for both a bull and a cow. Deer are limit of 3, but only 2 may have antlers. So, I take this as I can take 3 does in VT.
  20. Yeah, I know this is a NY hunting forum. If I remember right there is a guide in here for VT though. I have a few questions on hunting deer and moose with a bow in VT. I just want to make sure I understand the regs and season. If anyone can help out great.
  21. I edited what I said in red. It's the 'burbs'. I have not one issue that you can use a shotgun in there for small game. But, maybe not during deer season. I agree 1,000,000,000%, people should use some brains when hunting. This time of year a deer hunter might just be over a knoll, on the ground. Anyway, I was using the reference to make a point about hunter orange. I am think of switching to chartreuse.
