Anyone watching AAF (Alliance of American Football)?
DirtTime replied to goosifer's topic in General Chit Chat
I caught some of last nights game by accident. Wife was flipping and I caught football on the screen and asked her to go back, no words can describe the look of horror on her face when she realized it was a live game LOL. Looks promising, I hope it works out and gets some longevity. Another 12 weeks of American Football? Yes please. I have to sit and watch a few full games, get a better feel and then pick a team. Right now leaning towards Atlanta or Birmingham. Maybe if it works out NY will get a team? -
There are a ton of beer 'connoisseur' sites and blogs out there. Just remember, while we have beers that are regional to this state, many other states have the same thing going on, especially with craft beers. So to say, NY knows it's beer, is only valid for this state. Also, we hijacked this thread, Dom started the thread about what beer do you "cook with", not consume daily. LOL! But, I love this thread. It brings a sort of comradery aspect to this site, as twisted as that might sound, that aside from hunting we don't have here. No one argues on this thread, or the "Whats for Dinner" thread.

I guess dolphins don't know that it smells like fish but it tastes like chicken.

I have a Master Built charcoal smoker, water pan is shallow and charcoal pan is also shallow. Then my go to is a CharBriol propane smoker, but, again, water pan and chip section are small and shallow. I think there are pics of both in the "Whats In Your Smoker" thread. Both are vertical smokers, not the bullet type like you have.
-
Remember you saying that before. SN has some good beers, and some that taste like your drinking horse *bad word *.
-
Sadly, no. My smokers have to be opened every hour or so to replace the water and add chips, so it doesn't take long after opening the door for the temp to bottom out and loose smoke when it's cold. I did try smoking in the cold once, after almost 8 hours, the split chicken breast wasn't done. Had to finish in the oven.

Hope you feel better!! I agree. Worst physical pain is a toothache, back pain, and a headache.

Been a while since having this one. Still a favorite. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

Made a small pork tenderloin with black pepper and mustard, and some beet spirals. I love pickled beets and onions, but this was too much, so made Asian style veggies and tossed those beet nasties in the trash. Tomorrow, a turkey. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

Medical Pot = Lost Gun Rights
DirtTime replied to Rattler's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Not sure what you mean here. Are you talking about the THC levels? -
Today's haul for the weekend. Just popped the top on one for tonight. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

I like this approach. That's a great way of getting a 'definite yes'. Years ago, a spit and handshake secured the deal. These days, I would get something in writing if you are unsure of the situation. That's just me, but I don't want to be on someones land who doesn't really want me there.

After reading and replying to a few political threads, reading some threads in the Turkey Hunting section, I actually needed this. Leftover from the weekend. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

This program helps a lot of people and towns, my self included. You are forgetting about the gondolas he wants to build as well, the for the state fair, and the one in Albany going across the Hudson. The #1 reason people are leaving this state is the taxes! There are other reasons, including the dumbest gun control laws ( CA is right there as well, but I'm talking NYS ). It's not the weather, it's not Trump, it's Cuomo himself. It's not hard to see what he wants to turn this state into.
-
This weather is all sort of wacky. well below zero for 4-5 days, one day around 40*, then yesterday and today upper 50's. Rain starting tomorrow afternoon. I agree with silent death, with the quick melt and so much water, then back to normal temps in the next day or so at nigh, it's going to get nasty.

I think the Lefties are slowly realizing banning or trying to take our guns won't be as easy or work out well in the end for anyone. Not to say they won't keep trying! Seems like they have changed tactics and are now focusing on trying to stop the sale of firearms. First the 'Other Bill' with the new up-to-30 day rule, now this. It's completely mind numbing and infuriating at the same time. None of the gun laws passed in a while made much sense, and certainly did not and WILL NOT stop gun violence by criminals. I posted on FB the link to the Last Bill, and posted what I thought, I wasn't nice and used some very colorful words and descriptions. Most people agreed with me, but there is always one! My wife's cousin. My wife and I gave him a one two team punch that shut his lefty ass right up!

I attempted to make a cooking video after errands too to long. Hot wings. Still waiting for it to render, then try and render/up load it.

Made wings. Also made a video of me making the wings. Waiting for the vid to process through my editing software. Then will upload and wait for the upload render to complete.

For the record, I'm not saying anyone shouldn't buy gear they like the look of, buy what you want to try or use. I just made a comment on what I think about packs. It was just my personal opinion.
-
Please no! With that crew I'm sure someone will get naked as it is. I want to see pounding shots and beer chugs. Not man sausage!
-
That fanny pak/harness packs looks OK. The actual backback? Looks like it rides low, most of the weight from the pack would be on your lower back kidney area, not great for long hikes. Also with that lower profile, it might move around a lot. I have no experience with this company, but I have no idea what you plan to use the pack for also. For a day pack with minimal gear, it might be OK. All packs should fit snug, fit you right, and not wiggle around. They should also ride higher on the back to distribute weight evenly.

Thanks for the input everyone. We will be taking all our food up with us, just like if we were camping in the Summer, we're also taking the crock-pot with us. Thanks for the heads up Rob about the grocery store, will have to keep that in mind. As for the Mexican...I think making chili while up there will enough punishment for my wife. But, if she wants to try it...I'm OK with it. LOL. Seeing this is more or less both of our "big vacation" for this year, my plan is to hunt mornings, and then do the sight seeing the wife wanted to do the last time we were up there in the afternoons. 50/50 so to speak. As much as I would love to hunt D2D all week, I can't be that selfish. Again, I have wanted to do something like this since getting back into hunting. I know the hunting will be tough, I understand that even seeing a decent buck might never happen, and I will be hunting some thick woods! I'm OK with all of that. It's the experience of hunting "big woods" I want, to bring back old memories. Of course I want to kill a nice buck, but if I don't who cares? This will be as much about the new memories as the kill ( if I drop a deer ).

So the trip we were trying to plan up in the Indian Lake region for hunting wasn't as easy as we thought. Booking the wrong cabin, then my dog started having major hip issues and had to go on a daily regimen of prescription meds and some chewables to help loosen up the joints. So we had to try and explain to Driftwood about some new issues. They were pretty cool about it, allowed us to switch cabins for the reservation, and didn't charge a 'cancellation' to change cabins. So, it's now official. Cabins booked for a week of hunting ( vacation for my wife ) in the ADK's for Late October. I can't wait! I need to get a new video camera to make sure I can get footage. I am so stoked about this trip!
