  1. so many thing wrong with this sky draw / draw length is to long / death grip on the bow and arrow is way over spine .... plus he doesn't even have a field tip on it...
  2. I used to shoot scotts but have moved on to carters, and in mine and many others opinions they are the best. check them out you might be surprised with the groups you would get... oh and the golden key answer, good luck with that...
  3. love shooting 3-d, but not till it warms up. I will hunt in single digit temps but 3-d not so much...........
  4. As was said there is no wrong way to deer hunt. When I hunted my cousins 100 acres we had a killing tree, we used our climbers in this tree and it was a perfect spot. It sat on a ridge with a 2 acre pine thicket behind that was a bottle neck between big woods . I shot my biggest buck to date from that spot a 120 incher. Had two bucks easily 130 inch deer use that bottle neck never giving me a shot and I passed many smaller bucks up too . myself , son and my wife have shot numerous deer from that little patch of woods. We used the same trail and same tree over and over and it just produced deer.
  5. 100% agree growalot our new lease 300 acres with 130 being woods, has a drive in theater and maybe a 60 house neighborhood to the north , the upper field of our lease has hang gliders landing in it practically all summer long , has the farmer tilling /planting crops , the guy we lease from has a hired hand that cuts wood on the land. We see tons of deer , we hunt the wind and practice sent controll but we have had deer and bucks come in from down wind on occasion. We have noticed the deer are not that bothered by our sent, now when I used to hunt my cousins 100 acres it was big woods and the deer were super sensitive to human presence . As you posted just depends on the environment the deer are used to.
  6. We have been on our new lease for 2 years now and we have a 3acre pine forest that is very very thick . No way one could walk through it and it's loaded with deer trails , we fring hunt it and we see lots of deer coming out from it. I believe if one has enough property to have a sanctuary than one should do it .
  7. yep, then they totally blow it when he shoots the elk with his cross bow and the bolt doesn't make a pass through. especially when they show the elk laying and he made a perfect lung shot with no off side shoulder contact. but its still a pretty good show..
  8. Probably just wasted 5 min off my life but it's done .
  9. I was a school bus mechanic for 7 years , moved to a better job a year and half ago. I do kind of miss those easy snow days, we could get so much done when the busses were grounded.
  10. I think I would pass on these for big game. They probably would be fine on text book shots but what about those not so perfect hits where bone is involved. Small game head you betch ya.

    Arrows

I visually inspect and flex them and listen for cracking , if all is good I will then spin the arrow on my spinner to check the broadhead and if it spins true then new blades are installed. And back in the quiver it goes .
  12. Gives whole new meaning to pea brain.

  16. on my older bows I allways used the STS brand i had very good luck with them.
  17. My youngest sees this now , he's in his second year for his nursing degree and he says you can tell the kids that are on a free or almost free ride. We told both boys we are only paying half of their tuition just for that reason they need some sort of taking responsibility for them selves.
  18. Every county in NY is different on how they issue permits, some have the recertification and some did not. Now the ones that did not now have to go on the trooper data base and fill in your info. I have 6 and I was bitchen the whole time can't imagine guys that have 20 or more .i had my wife double check all my info because of course there's , I here by decree all info is correct or I will be arrested crap. So take your time guys .
