That’s a awesome state land buck , congrats and yes the second photo of all of you is what hunting is about .

So I’ve been playing chess with this wide buck most of archery and I had him at 10 yards this morning ( didn’t know it was him till I pulled SD cards on walk out , notice the date on the top photo and the time is actually 6:21 there’s a photo of me walking in at 5:30 ) It was just too dark to get a shot I could barley make him out , but knew it was a buck as he had his nose to the ground following my foot steps to my tree stand . I’ve been applying Evercalm to the bottom of my boots and this stuff is great. My wife saw a big doe and my son missed a big doe with his 357 mag SBH . And the chess game continues . Congrats to all that has shot a deer .

Easy fix leave the rifle at home, I know , I know but then you don’t have a excuse to buy the 10 .

I have a Rock island ultra f/s that’s not too bad, but it’s my only semi so I have nothing to compare it to .

So the yamaha kodiak 700 is actually made / geared more toward work , I won’t go into the specifics of the clutching they use for this , but single cylinder atv engines are known to produce really good low end torque. So yamaha geared the cvt to take advantage of this especially in low. Now something to consider with the loss of traction is tires , factory atv tires are ok but there are really good options to be had for a much superior ride and traction in all conditions. And to give feed back in the drive shaft vs belt , yamaha has a 10 year belt warranty so that should tell one something . When I had my 01 450 kodiak I pulled a 2wd Chevy Tahoe out of a ditch that they backed into ( drive shaft was touching the ground ) I hooked onto it in 4wd low and proceeded to pull him right out no spinning etc , that little quad impressed me that day. Now having said all that for what Belo wants to do I think he’ll be fine . Yes a atv cannot compare to a tractor , but you have more options to utilize a atv more it’s not a specifics machine to do the job .

I’m assuming your looking at the 610 ? You should be good to 50 yards . The 10 is closer to a 357 mag in ballistics performance and I’ve had good performance from 357 on deer around those distances. I have 10mm in semi auto and would some day like to do a pig hunt with it . Do some research I think you’ll find some pretty good selection of hunting bullets for the 10 ., especially if you reload. Also don’t over look a red dot for your 10 a red dot is great for 50 yards and actually not bad out to 100 either .

I highly, highly recommend getting EPS . Especially going slow , our 700 kodiaks have it and jumping on our 450 kodiak with out its amazing the difference. I’m a yamaha guy and there’s lots of CVT mods to gain more low end on a grizzly or kodiak.

What ever brand your looking at do a price check between the two and I think you’ll be surprised that a 700 is only 1000$ more than a 450 . The big V twins like moogs will be more $ yes , but a single cylinder 700 yamaha or 750 Suzuki has more than enough power to do what you want especially in low .

I really don’t understand why people have to do this with their buck pictures .

I have thought about getting the 870 out now and again. But I enjoy using my super red hawk more .

I was just thinking this a few days ago . We picked up a new lease this year and it’s usually a slow archery season for myself, wife and son our first year on a new lease as we’re figuring out how the deer use the land. We’ve seen deer on every sit with only one close enough for a shot but he didn’t give me one. We are not really seeing any major rutting activity in our area yet . Actually had a lone doe 50 yards off in my walk in tonight to the stand and she was in no hurry . It will be interesting to see if the fire arms season really ramps up .

We have ladder stands from 12 to 16 ft to the platforms, wife has dibs on the lower ones. My pull rope is 22 ft long, I hook it to my upper part of my climber and when its taught I know I’m 20 ft up or so .

What broad head was used ?
