  1. Perfectly said my friend! But Biz being a cheater?? That is strictly between you two!
  2. We do have quite a few Short Ladders scattered around. And I do sometimes hunt them, depending on deer movement at the time. Just really prefer hunting from the ground. And honestly, due to years of trial and error, I don't get busted as much now, as I used to from the ground. But I have seen my share of "that look"!!!
  3. I hunt from the ground. I get this look a LOT!!!!! Nice bucks and pic's G-man!!
  4. After the plants have established well, a liquid spraying of 1 tsp. per gallon water of 10-10-10 will give the plants a burst of nitrogen similar to using Miracle Gro. We have used the same formula with the MG too. Just seems to shift the plants into overdrive. And not real expensive with a hand sprayer.
  5. Customer service like that is too rare these days. Good to hear they took care of ya!
  6. I have heard of this place out in Varona. And always wondered if they did a brisk business? And if FSW supplied any of his deer?
  7. This would make a great varmint gun! Best of luck with the sale!
  8. Have a Summit Viper climbing stand, but haven't used it in years. Got a bunch of hang on stands piled up, but we don't use them any more. Got a few different ladder stands scattered around that we use. All but one of those are set with only one or two ladder sections though. So six to nine feet high. Also have four Ameristep pop up blinds. Used them quite a bit last year and find them very comfortable, set up with a folding chair in rainy or inclimate weather. But most of my hunting is done from the ground, from natural ground blinds made up from whatever is laying nearby. I enjoy the challenge and thrill of being eye to eye with the deer I hunt. And I also love to stalk a deer I spot from the ground. From an elevated tree stand I'm stuck up there. So I find it much more exciting to spot a buck out of range, and try to get closer for a shot. When successful doing this, it just gives me more of a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Will give the climber and hang on stands to my grandson. Next year he will be old enough to hunt his own spots.
  9. Anyone got an idea about what they are? They both look to be the same kind of whatever they are? One from WNY and the other from ENY so they must be pretty common. Some type of tree toad?
  10. Sure wish I lived closer to The Academy! Way ta go guy's!
  11. Speak of the little fella, just walked outside and there he was.
  12. Did ya tell her if she kisses it, he'll turn in to a prince???.....grin Got one that looks just like him, that's been hanging out nights in front of the garage this summer.
  13. When I was up in Maine last spring I bought a pack of Ten Point lighted crossbow nocks. They seem to be a pain to install and turn off from what I gather. But great overall reviews! Might try em? Might sell em? Still in the package. If I try em, I'll make another thread.
  14. What a great set up!!! Hmmm.......I plan to be there the last weekend in October? But if he walked in front of me and stopped at 15 yards, I'd be shaking too bad for a clean shot, so he's safe with me!
  15. Plot is coming in great!!! Weather has been perfect for growing the last month. Nice work! Is that your Mendon property? Be awesome to see you in a picture with that buck this fall!!! What a giant! Fertilize on or around Labor Day. That is usually our target date.
  16. In June, I attended a mandatory NYS Hunter Safety Instructor course. Not sure why the topic of CWD was included in a safety instructors course? But anyways..... During the course, a NYSDEC biologist spoke of CWD with a gloom and doom presentation. "CWD could end hunting in NY as we know it now". There is no doubt that this biologist is much more qualified than myself or most average hunters to speak on the subject. But I just couldn't escape the feeling during the presentation, that what he was saying was in part, way over the top?? I just felt that there was some solid information there, mixed in with some hype? IDK......? FSW makes some valid points as well. Perhaps the real truth lies somewhere in between? I am in no way qualified to make a statement either way. I just would like some solid no BS information, from an independent source, with no special interest or ajenda to uphold. With CWD that seems to be hard to find.
  17. Good info, without the hype. Thank you.
  18. Congrats to this hunter!!! Certainly this is the hunting opportunity of a lifetime! Would love to hear everything, from selecting a guide, property chosin to hunt, set up prior to the hunt, and of course all the details of the hunt itself!! That would be epic!! I get warm and fuzzy just thinking about it!
  19. I did consider the weight issue affecting arrow flight/accuracy Brian. I'm going to decide what arrows I will be hunting with, and set them up with the broadhead I will be using, along with the Glory nock. With all that, no doubt I'll have to fine tune everything to have my hunting arrows hit exactly where I aim out to 30 yards, my self imposed limit for deer hunting. Once set up with broadhead and ready to hunt, I only shoot one arrow at a time. Just like hunting. Over and over. Seeing the flight path of the arrow will be pretty cool for hunting and practice I think? Something I've been thinking of trying for quite some time now. Getting this bow from you has been a total joy to me. I love shooting it!
  20. New bows sure are fun! Especially when it's been a long time since you've had a new one! Trying new stuff on them and with them, certainly does build excitement and confidence leading into archery season. Best of luck to ya getting yours bloody this season!
  21. EHG has occurred in NY. About eight - ten years ago in Voorheesville WMU 4-J there were about 80 deer affected. That is just down the mountain from our property.
  22. Were you using the Glory nocks or a different brand?
  23. To turn off the Glory Nocks after shooting, you just place the nock back on the bowstring, then simply press the button on the side, remove arrow, and it's off?? Says no tools needed? I'll see if it's really that easy once I shoot them.
  24. I've run both of those through my Axis, and they both shot well. The trigger spring certainly is a big improvement for accuracy. Try some Federal Premium ammo too. Looking forward to your range results Jay!
