Looks perfect out there! Enjoy your day! The wife and I are enjoying Buffalo today as well. So far it's been a real nice trip! And the weather couldn't be any better!

Today I got to do something I've wanted to do for a long time....meet wooly. He made my wife and I, a beautiful welcome bear. But it was he and his sis Alison, that made us feel welcome, and at home, from the moment we shook hands. He is hands down one of the coolest men I've ever met! And without a doubt, a world class artist. But better yet, we share a friendship. You are truly a remarkable man Matt. Thanks so much for the bear. Take care, until we meet again sir.

First shot at 20.First group at 30.First group at 40.Pretty soon this Obsession Phoenix will be shooting almost as good as when Moog had it!! Since tweaking a few adjustments last week, this bow just keeps getting better. Smooth, quiet, super solid back wall, and an absolute joy to shoot! Shoulders are acting up a bit now, so hoping to tighten the groups a little more in the next month. But have come a long way since the first time I shot this bow. That was embarrassing, ask moog..... Decided on these arrows with the 350 spine for my hunting arrows. Next up will be putting on the Glory lighted nocks. Then the broadhead. Will practice with that until season starts. It's all is falling into place. With the end result hopefully another bow deer. That's going to be cool, considering I almost had to give up bow hunting.

LIVE From The Woods 2019 - Lets hear stories and see some pictures!
grampy replied to fasteddie's topic in Deer Hunting
Been opening up some spots for hub blinds on the farm property. Opened these spots next to very thick cover, where we saw and got pic's of nice bucks last year. My grandson had a big buck halfway down this lane last year. Hope to have it happen again during youth weekend. Both of these spots are the view from here.... And here is where a hub blind is going. Huge buck see here a few times last year! Following woodline to the left. Perhaps my opening day of gun spot? It's a pinch point between two Very thick bedding areas. Prime rut spot! -

Croc's......really? C'mon man!.......lol Always pictured you as a mans man! I did have a pair of them in my hand once, while out to Lee Mass. with the Mrs. But just couldn't do it. But I do have a certain big manley, lawyer friend from WNY that loves em? So who am I to put em down without trying them? May even break down and buy a pair at some point, but would never tell anyone! -
hahaha.......you bet I do, Mr. Bandit.

Happy to hear you're doing better Rob. Hopefully you'll do just fine when one comes in. After its down, you can sit down and take a deep breath! Shaking at that point is normal!!! Best of luck to ya out there this year.

He might be able to point though? I rescued a young coopers hawk a couple of years ago from the side of the road in Schoharie. Never did hear back from the vet on how he made out.

Awe crap! Someone beat me to it! Would have made a nice walking\drive gun. -
I can only speak for myself. We are all different G-Man. I know from your posts, that you are still passionate about your deer hunting adventures and land management. I think we will all know when our own time comes to hang up our hunting hat. I feel very fortunate to be sitting in the deer woods after 46 seasons, and still have my heart skip a beat, when even a doe fawn just appears. And my brain shouts.....DEER!!! It's what keeps me looking forward to next season, as I make my way out on the last day of this season. Even if I didn't kill a deer. It's part of who I am.......... Getting older, and looking at hunting through the eyes of a younger hunter you are mentoring, is another way to keep the experience fresh and flowing. Some of my best "kills" were made by someone else.........

I still get a rush of adrenaline when I see ANY deer while hunting. Hope I never lose that. If I do, it's time to stop hunting. As far as "Buck Fever" I haven't had that in a looong time now, while lining up a shot. After the shot is when I get the shakes though. But do admit to more than one buck living longer, due to my own ineptitude. Last year my grandson missed/didn't take an opportunity at a nice mature buck, because of 'buck fever'. But honestly, I think I was shaking, and breathing harder than he was.

Pulled the trigger on a deer rifle
grampy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I did make a thread on replacing the trigger spring for the Axis a couple years ago. IMO...it was as much an improvement on that rifle, as swapping out, and upgrading the glass that came on it. Making it a VERY accurate shooter, to out past 200 yards. My hunting partner won an Axis in 30-06. He bought a Boyd's stock for it, along with upgrading the the glass and trigger spring. It now looks as good as it shoots, and fit perfectly. Been meaning to get one of those stocks for mine. The 7mm-08 chambering in the Axis will be VERY easy on recoil, even with the 140gr cartridges. But the 120gr like Pygmy said, will kill a deer just as dead. Your daughter will not have a problem at all, managing the recoil of that rifle Jay. Looking forward to the range pic's!! Send it! -
Never heard of this being done around here?? Good idea though, as we got our share of rabies locally. Was sitting in the open garage last night, and a big coon came strolling by. Scared the bejeeesies outa both of us as we made eye contact, and it ran the other way. So I guess it was fine.

With good form, I should be holding the bow arm steady until the arrow hits the target. So I hope the arrow in flight won't be affected by the shiny thing looping to the target, after leaving the bow??? I don't know??? We will see. Thanks for giving me something else to think about my friend!!

I have no doubt that your perfection will continue, after you do hit that release this year!!! You Academy guys got it going on!!

Happy Birthday!

100 grain fixed Muzzy's or NAP thunderheads. Haven't decided yet. Both have worked flawlessly for me in the past, when I did my part.

Say....... Yeah.... we are looking at how we hunt two entirely different ways. It's not gonna work out, us hunting together. Not for you, not for me. Sorry, your on your own now. I've had to say that before. Actually more than once. After hearing some similar BS myself.
