It's been a while since we had a Mountain Lion thread
grampy replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in General Chit Chat
Dog. The lower leg shape and paw size is not even close to what a big cat should be. Neck shape is different too. Besides, everyone knows, all the cougar's are in Albany County, not Rensselear County! -
Naw, this aint for me. But hey, whatever floats your boat if it's legal. I have known guys that hunted for years and never killed a buck! Going to a place like this, they would finally have something to look at on their wall!....lol. They talk a good game though! And with one of these bucks, I'm sure the story would be epic!

Count me in too. Been using one for a few years and love it! So simple but effective.

I'd like to get out this weekend but if not the week after for sure! 100% catch and release for me with bass. Best of luck to anyone going this weekend!

I may be wrong but I think Mike got the boot before quitting the forum. Mike was ok, as long as you agreed with him.

Looks like an awesome trip to me! Way to go!

For some sorry a$$ thief hunter, hope that will be the only "buck" he gets this year!

The world and certainly this forum, would be pretty boring if we all thought the same. I try to respect ALL opinions. Even if I don't agree with some of them. It definitely keeps things interesting, that's for sure! As I previously stated, I'm all in for keeping the coyote numbers in check. And would even like to see, no closed season on them. But how each hunter goes about taking em out is up to them! If I could afford it, I'd go with one of those real expensive thermal imaging scopes on an AR platform. Now THAT would be cool to me.

So cool to see the youngsters doing well with something we enjoy too! She really looks like she will go far with this archery thing! Best of luck in the upcoming tourney!

How'd I miss this! Nice going Larry! I still enjoy the laid back fishing from a bank too! Moog, I've never blown a worm! That's one thing that I've never done! But the family outing at the pond sounds awesome! And everyone catching fish is really special. Good times that you will all remember.

Hunting and trapping them is fine, but blowing them up? IDK. Not for me. But dead is dead, I guess.

HaHaHa........Every now and then my Mrs. will pull something out of the hat and do that strut too. I just smile and say nice job hon.

Though not common, we have some in the Albany hilltowns. I've known a den site, since I was a boy. Also a few copperheads as well over the last 50 years. But have seen the rattlers much more.
-
That sucks! Not too much worse than a dirt bag, trespassing, thief! I would try the set up cams. Hope you catch the A H.
-
Good catch. Glad that it wasn't much worse.
-
For sure, that's a timber rattler! Very cool to see one in NYS.

You are so right. It takes a lot of tinkering, fixing and more than a couple dollars, to keep boats in tip top shape, so that you don't break down on the water. But the time on a boat just flies by so fast. It is a total get away for me. Even when I don't go very far. And much cheaper than a Therapist!

I can't hate coyotes for being coyotes and doing what they do. But the problem starts when there are too many of them doing what they do. I can honestly say, that since we and others in the area. Actively started hunting them and called in a trapper, to thin out the numbers. We have seen an increase in fawn survival and deer numbers on our properties, over the last few years. I'm not foolish enough to believe that we will totally rid our properties of coyotes, nor would I want to. I do have respect for them and enjoy matching wits with them after deer season. An endeavor that they usually win by the way! But left totally uncontrolled, they will nearly decimate a deer, turkey and small game population, in certain areas. I've seen it with my own eyes. I also believe there should be no closed season on them. They are far too smart to be totally eradicated, but the numbers just need to be checked to keep a balance. Just my opinion.

Will take her in tomorrow after work for new tires and wheel bearings. Then ready to get her wet! Look out bass, I'm coming for ya!

Wink and nod Doc.

Just habit, I guess. lol..... By the time I fumble around separating the backing, I could staple 4 targets. Long before they started making these shoot and see targets, we would staple standard sheets of paper with hand drawn bulls.

Nice pic's! Way to haul em in! Some real good ones too. These are the days, we've waited all winter for!
-
Happy Birthday! Wishing you all the good stuff, today and the coming year! Laughs and hugs are on deck today!

Yes, Mohawk river. And I've fished that stretch at Fonda many times. There is a good launch just down river at Dufels. That is a very good area for smallmouth bass. Just below most of the locks you can find walleye on the river too. Farther down river there are some hefty large mouth, and northerns, along with some big tiger muskies. I've had some tournaments along fonda, and would hammer them, with the Thruway traffic just over my shoulder! Right now the Mohawk looks like chocolate milk and is filled with debris. If the rain lets up a bit, it will clear up and fish fine by next week. Favorite baits for the Mohawk are, half ounce white willow leaf spinnerbait, white and chartreuse Senko worm rigged wacky or Texas, a deep diving craw crankbait, five inch Rappala or similar jerkbait in a natural shad color, and as Turkeyfeathers said, the gulp swimbaits work well too! Tight lines to all heading out! And keep yourselves safe out there!

What an awesome day for you and your daughter! Some memories made and you both took home first prize in your first tourney! Congratulations!
