Good for you! I need to work harder at relaxing!!! The pictures you are posting are amazing!!! Keep em coming! -
Thought for sure that today, every gobbler in the woods would let loose, and do the turkey dance!

I too have noticed the increase in hunting related items in Tractor Supply. The prices are also on par with the competition as well. Sometimes even better. I'm in there quite a bit so it's handy for me to pick up an item or two while there.

My grandson and I made it out only twice for turkeys this year. Once before surgery and once after. His baseball schedule more than my surgery was the main reason for getting out so few times. We had high hopes of getting his first turkey this year. But he's only 13 and we will have many more opportunities to get it done in the future! All the posts of hunts in this thread really brightened many days for me post surgery!!! I read each and every one! Most more than once! The stories and pictures posted here was for the most part, my turkey season, this year. Even if no bird was taken, it was so cool to hear what was or was not going on in the turkey woods! Through all of you, I had a great season! I'm looking forward to contributing more next season!!!

This will be only our 3rd year running cams. It all started with a very esteemed member here,"phade", sending a couple cams to my grandsons. We put them out and had so much fun seeing the deer we got on cam, that I started to pick up more when I could. We have around 10 or 12 now! Hoping to maybe get one of those cams that send the pic's to your phone at some point this year! The picture of the buck I use for this forum, was one of the first decent bucks we got using that original cam. My grandson picked the spot to put it!!! And I got the kill sequence of my buck last year from a cam I got from wooly! Each year we add more cams and do have fun seeing the critters we get on cam.

Having hunted the same properties for so many years, like others, we don't do much walking around prior to the hunting season. At this point we kinda know where the deer will be. Then after the start of the season, based on what we observe, we can fine tune to what is going on, at that time. We also have thick sanctuaries where we never set foot, and have set up's for deer coming or going to them, based on wind direction and rut status. We will start running cams in July. We will pull the cards in mid September to see what bucks are using what areas, and overall deer density of certain areas. Though at this time, it's still a crap shoot as to what bucks will stick around, or move off. We have around 40 natural ground blinds, stands and set ups, along with climbers, to take advantage of hot sign, on 500+ acres. Some are only 50 yards apart, to account for different wind directions. My buddy and hunting partner lives on the farm, and sees deer in the plots and hay fields most every day. So that also gives us an idea as to what deer are on the property. The lake property is a huge deer funnel between two ridges and a lake. With feeding and bedding on opposing sides. I'll go in there around Labor day, to re-brush in some blinds, then stay out until it's time to hunt. Some of the biggest deer of the year are usually seen here around the 1st of November. Close to 75 acres with about a dozen blinds and stands scattered for elevation and wind changes.

That was a cool video! I always find it interesting, how certain properties have a traditional "Magic " day. Ours is 11-10. Best of luck to you guy's this year!

Gone but never forgotten. To all the brave men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for this country, we thank you and remember you on this day. But it's "every" day that we reap the rewards of your sacrifice. The gifts of freedom that you gave us, are still the most precious gifts this world has ever known. Thank you for today, and every day, we live in freedom. Gone but never forgotten.

I'll look forward to that Tom!

Hands down, my Ithaca Deerslayer 2, with three inch slugs. It actually shot better groups with the two and three quarters, so was happy about that! Though it still thumped pretty good. Was so happy when we went to rifle four years ago! My 7mm/08 and 270 are barely noticeable in recoil compared to the slug guns I've shot.

Legendary performer, and the Allman Brothers were a huge musical influence in my early years of guitar playing. Melissa has always been on my set list, as a solo performer. I've seen them play so many times. The one that stands out most, is in the mid eighties at JB Scott's in Albany. The Betts Band and Gregg's band played the same bill. After each played a set they combined and played for close to three hours! Gregg, Dickey Betts, Dan Toliver and Warren Haynes blew me away from just a few feet away. The absolute spectacle of musical talent being thrown back and forth on that stage, still brings jaw dropping amazement, from so many years ago. Rest In Peace Gregg. Thank you for so many memories made, while your music played.

I was flipping channels last winter, and caught this. My wife came in the room to see what I was laughing so loud about. We ended up watching together, laughing and shaking our heads. All I can say is I must have lived a sheltered life!.........lol Was also wondering if they would be doing a Pygmy story!.....grin...
