  1. I could also look into getting us a pavilion in Thatcher Park overlooking Albany. On a clear day you can see three states. The pavilion will be nice for rain or shine. They have grills for cooking venison or anything else. Ball fields, hiking trails, nature center and best of all we can bring beer!
  2. I've met a few guys from this forum. All were great people! There are many more I'd like to share a story and a beer that I would like to meet. I'm in. May be able to set something up in the Capitol region. But could travel if need be too.
  3. PM me. I think I have an extra pair in my ice fishing bucket that I can give you.
  4. My apologies. It was I who sidetracked your thread. I should have posted my questions in a separate thread. Good luck with the sale.
  5. Taco Tuesday tonight! Made with ground venison of course.
  6. I remember the story from the harvest thread, it was a good one. Looks like you did a fine job with cleaning the head and mounting the antlers! That is one heck of a nice buck right there! And another great memory for you both. Here is an idea for you. This is a buck from a few years ago. I found some old rope in my shop and used it to blend the antler to the mounting material.
  7. Were the turnips a big draw during hunting season? Or have the bulk of them been eaten after the season closed? Thinking of putting in an acre or so this year. Also thinking about putting in sugar beets, between the woods edge and the corn.
  8. Biz, I've seen the pic's of your cats, and have always been impressed with how big they are. If I remember correctly, one is a Lynx?
  9. We have a good population of bobcats in my area of 4-H. And see them fairly often. But I've never seen one close to that size! Average size of an adult male cat, here, is 30lbs. Give or take a couple. They really are cool animals to see in the wild. A local trapper told me that a bobcat weighing 35 to 40 pounds is super rare and a huge cat.
  10. Thank you! That explains it perfectly for me. I've now learned the 'difference' between really high end optics and just ok optics. As I stated in my earlier post, I've never looked through very high end optics, and was just curious. That being said, if I had the $ for the binoculars posted here I'd buy them! And be very impressed I'm sure.
  11. Congratulations! Beautiful buck! I really enjoyed the story too. What an awesome hunt. Way to go coach!
  12. An awesome NYS buck! Congratulations to the hunter! Thanks for your service. I'm still working on my 'first' buck of a lifetime!
  13. Happy Birthday! Hoping your day if filled with all the good stuff!
  14. This makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for the great advice you have given in this thread!

    Whiskey

I've always been fond of Evan Williams for my sippin whiskey. But have substituted Crowne, JD, Wild turkey and Jim Beam with little difficulty. I prefer it straight up in a rocks glass with one ice cube. I don't partake as much these days as when I was younger. Due to medical issues. But while I'm playing guitar or to wind down with a nightcap, it's awesome!
  16. Welcome! Nice you decided to join us. Look forward to hearing more from ya!
  17. Mike Connors made Mannix cool! RIP.......
  18. Welcome! Glad you found us! Just pull up a seat and join in anytime. A real good bunch of outdoors people here. What is your best ADK hunt so far?
  19. So cool that your son's first deer was one of the first off your property! Both are very nice bucks! Congratulations!! Wishing you both continued success! Thanks for sharing.
  20. I was 20, working, hunting, fishing and living in Summerville, South Carolina just outside of Charleston. Brings back much better memories than the block buster winter storm of 77, for me.
