Over the last few years I've dropped 100lbs. and kept it off! So my fast food visits are very seldom now. But every now and again, the Mrs. and I will stop at KFC or Arby's in Cobleskill for a 'treat'. Been years since I've been in a Micky D's or BK though. Wendy's has a pretty good fish sandwich too. All this fast food talk has me drooling like a dog! "grin".....

I like Arby's for fast food! I'll have to give the fish a try, next time!

Nice! Looks peaceful as can be. Any northern lights happening?

Going to get real interesting here in the next couple days. But hey, it's winter in NY! And not even close, to what the Tug Hill area has seen lately!

We have seen in the past, that when King Andy wants something passed, it gets passed. Even in the dead of night behind closed doors, if need be. He is trying very hard to balance the safe act with "appearing" to care about the millions of sportsmen in this state. I don't buy it. Just more political posturing, in my opinion. But if he wants to pass full inclusion, fine, I'll accept that.

Welcome HuntL185 ! Glad you found us. This is a great place to share hunting and outdoor information! A number of good folks from down your way here as well. So, just pull up a seat and join right in!

There is not a doubt in my mind that no one feels more badly about this than Beach does. This is obvious. It's also obvious, that the other hunter should have and could have done things differently. And I will admit, there are many decisions I've made in the deer woods, that I wish I could do over.

And, I'm hearing something about a BIGGER storm coming up the coast, for Sunday night into Monday.
-
My point exactly! You won't need ammo or new guns, when you shoot nothing! Must be near your bedtime, isn't it?
-
I was thinking this too! The dirt bag may just be trying to bust stones to hopefully eliminate competition. Weather or not he actually did find the deer. He's definitely not someone I'd enjoy sharing the woods with.

Though I'm not old yet, only gonna be 60 in may. I find that as I get older, I talk and associate less with people. Especially ones I don't know, or ones I know I have nothing to say to. Completely opposite with friends and family though.

First, I in no way would ever want a deer that another hunter drew first blood on. Over the many years I've hunted, I have held this 'first blood' ethic to the highest standard. I have been on both sides of this before with my hunting partner, with never a question between us. And have given deer to hunters who only grazed the deer or made a non lethal hit, after I dropped the deer in it's tracks. One of them would have been my biggest deer to that point. I even gave an excited young hunter a deer that he shot at with a 20g. But only had a 12g. hole behind his shoulder. Told him I missed, and he must have been on his last legs when I shot. There is so much more to being a 'sportsman' than the kill. Second, and this is in no way a slam on the OP, as I was not there. And I honestly feel bad for you, on the outcome of this hunt. But if I "saw my arrow hit the shoulder" of a 140 class buck, I would not leave the woods until I were certain, there was no way to recover that deer! If I knew I could not follow up on a tracking job that night or the very first thing in the morning, I don't take that shot! At 200 yards away a good grid search may have been a different outcome, even with no blood found. Of course it's easy for me to be the Monday morning quarterback. And again, I mean no disrespect to the OP. Just something more to think about, for us all.

Welcome to the forum! I'm from Albany county. My hunting properties are here as well.

Working in a public school district, I can say with certainty, that schools have the largest collection of germs, than just about anywhere. Including hospitals! Lets all wash our hands now!
-
Now that's an office! Real nice collection of critters Biz. Still coming down hard here in Albany county. But I'm at work. Looking forward to some exercise, snow blowing and shoveling, when I get home. Who knows, perhaps my grandsons will have it done for me?

Got the shot in December. Got the flu, the end of January. Being diabetic, my Dr. "highly" recommends, the flu shot each year and the pneumonia shot every three years. Sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't. As over the years, I have had both. So I asked him why bother with the shots. He told me without the shots, my chances were good I'd come down with both "every" year. And that the years when I got the flu, there is the possibility it was a different strain than the one I was immunized for. I'm beginning to think it's all a bunch of hooey! One thing for sure, no one gets out of this world alive........

Our students are enjoying a snow day. But I'm here, and it's sooooo quiet! My footsteps seem to echo in the halls. Good day to catch up.
-
Yup, it's a deer. Nice to see ya back Joe!
-
I rarely use my 'fish finders' to find 'fish'. I use them to find depth, bottom contour and bottom structure. Once I put those three together in the right place, I'll 'find fish'.

Regular one with the transducer fixed to the trolling motor.

With this statement, I can see you don't buy very much ammo. That must be the reason you don't shoot anything.
