They do look barbed before being deployed. But the blades do fold back nicely when pulling them out of my target. No problem there. They retract to almost original position. Perfectly legal.

I have not shot anything with them yet. But during practice, they are very accurate and fly very close to field point impact. Just made very small adjustment. Using them on the Piledriver bolts. After crossbow opens in the SZ, hopefully, I'll see how they work on deer and give a review here.

Got fishers, bobcats and otters in our woods, and waters, along with the mink. And I enjoy watching them, far more than I would shooting or trapping them! But that's me! I have no problem at all, with anyone taking them legally, of course. So many times, I've come out of the woods, after not seeing a deer. With a big smile and so satisfied with my hunt, after seeing one of these critters put on a show! All of us hunters, are fortunate enough to actually see things the majority of people never will.

LIVE from the woods 2016 Edition! - 7th Year, lets make this happen...

So right! Seems as if deer are born with a "sixth sense" and it gets more developed as they get older! -
Right on! I've had them walk in to me, looking to see what the other deer is blowing at.
-
That would have made me more than a little nervous too!
-
Absolutely great stuff! Look forward to each post! Happy trails and keep safe out there.

Maybe not as often as doe's, but yes, bucks will sound the alarm too.

Great buck, great hunt, great recovery! Way to go! And after killing many deer with a bow, I still get excited before the shot! If I ever lose that excitement, I'll hang up my hunting hat. Congratulations sir! Well done!

Congratulations on a great buck, John! Super cool that it's your first bow buck too! Way to go! Can't wait for the story! -
Did a little scouting/small game hunting with a member here yesterday morning. Then caught up with a few farm chores and shot my hunting rifle. After that, home to a couple home chores and football. Just too warm! Need a good cool down to get the deer moving more during daylight. So far, this season is very similar to last year with the above average temps.

Yes, but I feel that full inclusion should have been passed last year. I also feel that ANYONE, hunting with a crossbow should have to take the Bowhunters Safety Course. Being a long time bowhunter I do understand both sides of the crossbow debate. But they are here to stay and I've learned to accept that and even hunt with one myself.

Fresh scrapes and rubs are popping up almost daily now. Haven't seen any chasing, but it won't be long before the young scrappers start to pester the doe's. But if you are lucky enough to have an older doe cycle early, you could have a parade of bucks go by you!

A mouth call that made the deer distress blow! I bought it at an outdoors show. I remember thinking at the time," hey I've heard deer make that sound before"! It didn't take long to learn that when I blew that call, deer RAN!!!! ....lol I still have it somewhere.

The Bills are not "my' team, but they were yesterday! I loved seeing the fans "warm welcome" to Kap and the Bills defense pounded him all day! Great game Bills!!!

Congratulations! You renew the Dad contract and gain another hunting buddy! Awesome! Got cigars?

Coming from someone who ignores drug dealers in front of schools. Or perverts on the playground. But he's no rat. Gotta love a guy like that!

What is your favorite smoothbore shotgun slug ammo for deer
grampy replied to LJC's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
My old Ithaca smoothbores loved the 2 3/4 Remington sluggers. A bunch of deer fell to that combo. -
Man do I love stories like this! Looks like a great time was had by both hunters! I wouldn't want to be a deer in that area!
-
That's why it should be mandatory to take the Bowhunter Educaton Course, for crossbow use. Some people are so inept at hunting, that even with a firearm, they cant close the deal. I don't see those same people doing much damage to the deer population with a crossbow.
-
Just pass full inclusion for crossbow, and let each hunter, decide for themselves, what they will hunt with! If you don't like crossbows, that's fine. Don't hunt with them! But like it or not, crossbows are here to stay, and will only become more popular.

Welcome! Nice for you to stop by! Tell us all a little about yourself.

Who had more fun, you or the dogs? Probably a toss up, I'd say? Great stuff for sure! Love the sound of a beagle on a rabbit's scent trail! HOWWWOOOOOOO........
