  1. Well we welcome you here! This forum is not owned or moderated by anti's. And has a great member base!
  2. I went to them a couple times when they had the shop in New Scotland. Had them change string and cable on my old Mathews. Bought a new HHA sight and did a paper tune. They were giving me the hard sell on a new bow and were being kinda rude when I said just fix my old bow. After what they charged me and their attitude I never went back. Talked to some other guy's who had similar experiences. No surprise when the place closed and went back to E. Greenbush!
  3. $100 is a bit steep for having simple adjustments made on a new bow. What shop are you using?
  4. After the shot...........I look around......no one there to see that perfect shot. No one to fist bump. No one see's me walk quietly to the dead deer, kneel down and say a little prayer. No one see's me put a spruce twig in it's mouth to send it's spirit on it's journey (I'm part Native American). It's quiet, just me and the deer. My hand on it's hide, I embed the memory of what just transpired into my soul forever. No one is there when the process begins, to put the wonderful meat in my freezer. By this time, hopefully. someone will be there to share a time honored congratulations and a smile. And without asking, help drag the deer out. I've pretty much always been a loner when it comes to hunting deer. So I'm not sure how it will be when I see my grandson take his first deer. Perhaps there will be a fist bump, loud yelling, dancing around? But he is a lot like me, so more than likely after I dry my eyes, and tell him how good he did and how proud I am of him. We will both go through my time honored routine, together.
  5. I know this area well! Don't live too far away. The water level in Fox Creek after Lee and Irene, flooded that bridge!
  6. Been there myself, so I feel your pain. Another one of those "getting older" things the doc's keep telling me about. Hope all goes smoothly and you will be fine for the season! Need you in tip top shape! I may need some help dragging!
  7. I freely and proudly admit that hunting pressure is low on my properties. I've busted my butt my whole life and sacrificed plenty to make it that way. And I won't apologize for doing what "I" want to do with what I have.

    Changes?

After post season scouting, we decided to make some small changes. So on the lake property i did three new natural ground blinds and on the farm property two new blinds. And since I'll have my grandson actually hunting this year, made them all comfortable and large enough for two. More so than any deer I've killed myself, I look forward to being with him when he gets his first!
  9. Hope it all works out for you Grizz. Me, I'll just hunt with the wind in my face.
  10. I used a Keller pendulum for years before going to the HHA slider. I agree with Lawd, I like the unobstructed sight view. But for your set up rob, I think you will be ok. Just yank the other pins out and go with it. I never use the slide on my sight. I just know where to aim at different yardages after many hundreds of arrows.
  11. Great video! As I get older, more and more, I love to see the wide eyed wonder of the young hunters. As they experience natures surprises. Good stuff.
  12. For you Eddie, the Happiest of Birthday wishes are sent your way!
  13. A true monarch of the deer woods! And a beautiful mount. Congratulations Russ.
  14. One eighth inch past the whisker biscuit for me.
  15. It's hard enough for me to hear what someone is saying in a normal tone of voice. Don't annoy me with whispering!
  16. Real nice! Between the deer and the bear your taxidermy guy will be able to go on vacation next year!
  17. Happy Birthday! Hope your day is filled with family, friends and good food! And of course a favorite beverage or two. Enjoy your day sir!
  18. You clean up nice Larry! I'm with ya on driving the Thruway! Drove to the State Fair on Thursday. Two hours each way. Had as many thrills and chills on the drive as anything at the fair.
  19. Don't want to be down wind of you!........

    hello

Welcome. Glad to have you stop by!
  21. I too have to say, that this site is the best darn hunting site going! Never once, since I've been a member. Have I seen someone that needed help and did not get it. There is such a wealth of experience in just about anything outdoors from our members. And it's given freely to anyone that asks. I have been on the receiving end many, many times and tried to help when I could. And we are all together much more than we are ever set apart by our differences. I'm proud to be a member here.

    Hi All

Welcome! Just pull up a seat and join in anytime!
  23. Thanks for posting this! IMO, it's the best way to stay safe from the moment you step off the ground. Climbing up or down, is when most falls happen. This is a very easy DIY lifeline!

  25. Very nice catch! Some of the best filets of any fish right there! When's the fish fry?
