Be it ever so humble.......Great story, awesome buck! Congratulations!

I'm so bad trying to score a buck by looking at a picture. It's so much easier when you have the rack in your hands.........

What a way to take the weight off a hunters heavy heart! Congratulations!

Good goes out then good comes back. Looks as if you have a real trophy there grow, in more ways than one.

Shame a hunter didn't get him. That is a awesome buck! -
I always hunt thanksgiving morning. This year I'll start a new tradition when my ten year old grandson will tag along with me for his first thanksgiving day hunt. He is very excited about going!
-
Awesome buck right there! A true monarch.

Anyone following this Ferguson stuff going on?

Time now for some of the ghetto dregs to do their shopping/looting. Even dogs don't crap where they lie. Or destroy where they live. Just disgusting! -
It's very slow here in my part of 4h. Very few shots heard any where close. My brother killed a big mature 8 point second day of gun. I have seen a few smaller bucks still chasing the does and have seen sign of a couple of good bucks but as of yet no kill for me yet. I have hunted two different properties and pretty much the same thing in both. Been hunting very close to doe bedding areas since gun opening and just can't see very far in the thick stuff. I'm going to back out a bit Thursday and Friday to try and get a visual on one of the big guys. Hang in there everyone cause it's not over yet. Good luck to all who have not yet connected!

Deer sightings are way down here in 4h. Lots of hunting pressure surrounding our properties but very little shooting going on. Have been hunting very close to known doe bedding areas and seeing a few younger bucks pushing the does around. No sight of the mature bucks we had seen a few times durring bow season. I may be wearing my spots a little thin being so close to the bedding spots and moving around quite a bit to try and get a shot at one of the big guy's comming in or going out. I'm sure they are now locked down with the girls, and hunting the thick stuff, you just can't see very far. But I'm still seeing their tracks and am certain at least one of them are still close by. Back to work tomorrow and will give my areas a chance to hopefully not be bothered for a few days. Seasons not over and I won't give up untill it is!

I have the barnett raptor, it has a 150 pound pull and shoots bolts at about 330 fps. More than enough for a deer. No problems with it so far except the scope that came with it is not very good and needs to be replaced. I can understand having a minimum weight but I don't understand why only a 200 pound limit? Guess that's what happens when people make laws about things they know nothing about!

Forty one and counting for me. Hoping to get forty one more!
-
Nice job and congratulations on your first buck! You will always keep fond memories of the first one.

If hunters were half as adaptable as deer, there would be a lot more deer killed.
-
I would also like to add how much I admire your grit, for getting it done in a blizzard!
-
Way to go TreeGuy! All of your hard work and your dedication has paid off nicely for you. Congratulations on a great season! And a couple of great bucks!

Took this morning off to recharge and regroup. It's been really slow here as far as deer movement goes. Going out soon to hunt a different property. I'm off work until Monday so hoping to give it my best shot till then. I will not give up until the last minute of the last day of the season. I am hoping to get it done sooner rather than later though. We will see! Good luck and keep hanging in there to all who have not connected yet!

I cannot and would not change what another hunter does in the field. The only actions I can control are my own. I try to set a good example of my hunting standards to my grandsons and to those I have mentored in the past. To me, that is the only way to make a difference. By mentoring and setting the example you want passed on. There are too many differences in people, and reasons for hunting, good and bad that are far beyond my control. Just because someone is different from me or may go about hunting a different way. As long as they are legally hunting, I won't criticize them weather or not I feel they are doing it the "right"way or not.

You are a real friend. Very nice buck and congratulations to Dave!

Cold and very windy sit today in 4 H. Had a spike come by at seven thirty, heading up the ridge. Doe and two fawns come down the same trail around two. Still very little movement since opening day in my neck of the woods. I may have to hunt another property tomorrow.

Congratulations on your buck Greg. Hope you will be feeling better soon.

Your friend is very lucky to have someone like you to mentor him. I think you are very commendable for helping him make memories that will last a lifetime. From one hunter to another, thank you.

Skin it and eat it. 99 persent of deer have ticks in and on them.
