  1. Here is a 4H mature buck on his feet today. All info is correct. Almost 60 degrees too. They move when they want to move. I'm hoping to meet up with this fella on Saturday!
  2. Lots of bears just up the hill, and no doubt in Voorheesville. I've seen three myself, overlooking the area your hunting. The lawn will still be there. What you are hunting, may not be for long my friend. Press while the iron is hot.
  3. Hunt the blind tomorrow. Bear scat.
  4. Last I knew $2000 was not free? But he may have meant that his MIL spent that much for it in 72? It is a cool organ. But my wife says no more music stuff! If I'm not gigging, then I don't need it! Hope it finds a good home.
  5. Couldn't have said it better myself! Plenty of places on the net, to go spew whatever political garbage you want. Why anyone would come to a 'hunting' forum with deep seated leftist views, trying to change the political minds of deep seated 2nd amendment member views, is way beyond me. That's why I hardly ever come to this section. Too many "HUNTERS" not hunting! I'd love to see this whole political section removed from the forum, as it just stinks up everything else. But the ones who frequent this section the most, even ones with "hunter" in their avatar, and not very versatile, would cry like the little bitches they are. Get the hell out and hunt!!! Or at least add something constructive to this forum!
  6. Regardless of what the weather does, the next couple of weeks will be the best of the year for NY deer hunters.
  7. You're making way too much sense, of this scent discussion counselor!
  8. I prefer to use common sense over scents. As scents never really worked for me. But common sense has, when I can find it.
  9. I can live with the warm temps. But the south wind will need to be dealt with.
  10. Really glad you finally joined us! Welcome! You got lots to share. Stick around, and jump right in anytime. Where do ya hunt, trap and fish?
  11. Hey....I'm honored to just be mentioned with those other guys! Thanks! Never heard of the Bowmars. But I haven't watched a "hunting show" in quite some time. I much prefer the real thing, than the canned version.
  12. Yesterday between my buddy and I, we saw at least a dozen bucks. Mostly younger ones running any doe they saw. The doe's want nothing to do with the bucks.....yet. I'm thinking next weekend, should have more participation from the bigger, older bucks. Right on schedule, of my "magic day" of November 11th. 4H....hilltowns of Albany county.
  13. Happy Birthday TreeGuy!!! You're one heck of a guy Andrew. Hope all your good deeds come back to you, double. Enjoy your evening sir.
  14. Back up to the farm in a few. Lots of deer seen. No shots yet. Congratulations to all who scored yesterday! Each one was a trophy! Best of luck to all heading out!
  15. Some of my best hunts ever, have been on a very windy day! Of course being a ground hunter, with set ups made on the lee side of ridges, made for windy days, helps to up the odds a little.
  16. Eight hours may be enough. Get in there and look around. Hopefully he won't be far away. Bring lights, and your bow, just incase. Let us know how you make out. Good luck!
  17. My opinion is......Brown tips indicate mid body, but back, with a low exit wound through guts, hence the fat low on the bush. Usually the blood trail will not be very good, as the fat will plug the holes. But that does not mean you can't recover this deer! He already looked to bed a short distance from where you shot him. If not bumped again, he may bed within a short distance of where you saw him last? A wound like this, is not survivable. The deer WILL die. Only question is how far will he go before sucomming? Give him plenty of time before going back in. Go easy. The blood trail may start good, but will likely peter out fairly quickly. Look for more pieces of fat, and small drops of blood. I would think he bedded again within 100 yards of where you saw him last. Again....just my opinion. Good luck! Where are you located?
  18. Fat from a possible gut shot? Let him go for at least four more hours before taking up the track again.
  19. 4H.....down here off the hill, only a dusting to an inch. Up in the hilltowns, 2 or 3 inches. Will be in the 40s over the weekend.
  20. Great buck! Big ol' body too! Good luck! Hope you tag him!
