  1. I'm going to speculate a low forward shot that probably broke his front leg but didn't enter the chest cavity much. That would explain the falling and they do bleed pretty good but can go a looong ways. Below lungs/heart possibly. Blood on snow can often be deceiving also, hopefully he loses enough blood and beds up and gets too weak to stand. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  2. I just finished my 2 deer from Saturday, steaks from Hinds, loins quartered up, hearts vacuum sealed, the other 30lbs is going to salami and jalapeno cheddar snack sticks! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  3. I put Maxxis Zilla's on my outlander, went a bit larger and wider than factory. The are super aggressive and work really well, they do dig holes really quick though. Not too expensive and way better than factory tires. The lugs are like 2-3" tall. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  4. That's a thick goatee you have! Great buck too! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  5. Shot what I thought was a doe with a long poke, turned out to be a spike. Different spot in the afternoon and had 4 doe come up and I shot the biggest, turns out she had a busted back leg and a wound on her face so I'm glad I picked her. Good day! Freezer is back on track after a humbling archery season. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  6. 175 yd shot across a clear cut at what I thought was a doe, turned out to be a spike, oh well, went up the road to see 2 of my target bucks both dead! Unreal, apparently the bucks were all packed in a small parcel of state and 5 guys killed 4 nice bucks and a doe. Went in new spot, sat for 45 minutes and 4 doe came by at about 100 yds, I shot, she disappears, then comes snow plowing right toward me, she stopped so I popped her again and she fell over dead. Turns out either a buck got too frisky or she got hit by a car but she has a fresh gouge in her face and her back leg is completely snapped in two. So I'm glad I took her. The other 3 does hung around awhile but I let the rest go. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  7. Well, 2 of my target bucks area dead, just confirmed it with holding the racks, they were bachelor buddies and both died in the same small woodlot with does. Group of 5 locals went in and shot 4 bucks and a doe first thing... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  8. Still boggles my mind how you can wear blaze orange and still have people walk right up to you without seeing you... Unbelievable. Another reason I stay 25' up a tree. Schmucks... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  9. I just let the 25wssm bark, 175 yd poke... Gonna give it awhile before I get down. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  10. I figured at least if I couldn't kill him I'd get pics as evidence. The pics came out alright, it definitely portrays the typical locked down buck/doe scene. I'd be happier to lock him in my garage tonight though. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  11. I wish I had me holding him pics but it didn't work out. Still fun! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  12. 4am for a 4:30 leave time. Have an hour ride and want to allot some time to hike through the knee deep snow. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  13. Well, on my way home from fishing I was staring into the woods and saw a nice buck about 75 yds into the woods just standing and staring. I spun around and sure enough still there, I figured the truck would spook him, nope. A few minutes later a big doe stood up, aha, now it makes sense. I drove up the road a bit to see where the state land started/stopped. They were on public! I grabbed a camo vest and my bow and made a loop around them, there was another buck in there too but the bigger one was keeping him at Bay. I got to 55-60 yds and the doe had me pinned. It was too thick to take a shot, eventually the doe trotted off with both bucks in tow... Damnit! The good news is I got a few good pics with my DSLR. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

  15. He can just have the hide tanned and save up his own damn money until he can afford to get a full mount done. I'd be curious to know how many jack wagons give this guy money? Sweet buck though! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  16. Sweet buck Rob, I love the gnarly bucks and that one sure makes the cut! I've never seen one with that much trash on the bases. Euro? Shoulder mount? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  17. That's what I took off of it, I feel like I'm just as accurate with open sights at 40yds and under and it took away some field of view. Just wasn't for me I guess. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  18. And I almost forgot, my Ruger Redhawk 44 mag, I've yet to take a handgun deer so I'd love to do that too. Shot it the other day, I went back to open sights, I didn't like the scope much, so I'm keeping shots in bow range where I'm confident! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  19. I think I'm taking my Browning A BOLT in 25WSSM. My absolute favorite rifle and I've been rotating opening weekend guns out the last few years so it's time I take the old girl back out. Last year I took my 700CDL and popped her cherry on a buck 10 minutes after light. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  20. It's not good for optics either I've heard, it's like dropping or slamming them. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  21. Got skunked on steelies today, landed a king though under a float on the Oswego river. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  22. I was thinking of going out in the AM but I fully see myself bailing and going back to bed when I feel how cold it is outside. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  23. Not if you used the chest girth measurements, probably be closer to 150lbs! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
