  1. Only buy if you will run it 100% on video. The Strike Force is a much better pic camera.
  2. Their wireless tech is lagging behind Spartan and their non-cell cams have not improved on trigger speed/sensing zone or the re-trigger times. Their cams have stayed close to the same or by some accounts have regressed in these areas since 2012. Not so much a case of poor performance, but rather the rest of the crowd catching up and some surpassing. I am interested in seeing their video cam come to fruition, however. Also, they still take some of the best daytime photos I've ever seen, and they're generally reliable with some of the best battery life on the market. The remake of their cams this year is definite progress and hopefully the performance of the cams get better with firmware updates or improvements to the 2017 line. But, if I am buying one cam - it's not likely to be a Covert right now. The trouble is that I don't have a real strong favorite non-cell cam blackflash model at the moment. Most of the current "better" blackflash cams are struggling to move ISO and exposure times at night right now.
  3. Their more of an issue in humid environments, like Florida, but still nothing that I would prefer to chance.
  4. Or maybe the deer aren't using for feed, but maybe cover already? Bedding? Sometimes screwing with the current state makes it worse.
  5. For someone wanting to buy one trail camera, I'd probably lean to the Browning Strike Force HD or Elite series (2015 or 2016 models). You can find them for $100-140 (depending on model year). These cams do everything good-to-very good. Most cams are excellent in one or two uses/areas, but the BTC-5HD and the Elite model are above average on nearly everything that matters. Ha, and thanks for the love.
  6. Indy was insane this week! That city was rocking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. It came down fast. So far so good. Dry ground soaked it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Happy birthday! Enjoy it with the boys and family! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. If anyone is interested in picking up a new cell/data cam that works on Verizon, let me know. This is the VCT-B model where, if you have Verizon plan, YOU CAN add the cam to the plan and use the data on that plan. It is $5 a month to add it, that's it! Cam is blackflash and new in box - Lists for $470 and very hard to find for less than that. I'll be willing to part for $400 shipped.

    EAB Proposed

They should just hire us. We'd knock down the doe population in 8H with no problem. If we got a black tag (sort of like the black Visa), even better. Free reign.

    EAB Proposed

This makes zero sense. Most EAB regulations are not statewide - they are usually geographically based in some form. Units, zones, etc.

Oh, this is a good one - apparently some schmuck online edited the doc to make it look like NY, and the doc was from another state. What a douche bag.

    EAB Proposed

Comments taken through June 29. It is for any open season in proposed WMUs - Western NY ones include 8A, 8C, 8H, 8G, 8F 8N, 9A and 9F. There are some more downstate. Sounds like any tag shortages will be resolved based on how I am reading the communication. I'd post it, but I am looking at a pic of the document that isn't all that great.
  14. DEC has released it - mostly for WMUs in the failed areas last season.
  15. +1 on the soy bean - hearing lots of farmers say they are getting their beans in later this season than normal. Most corn I have seen is already up several inches.
  16. Greener grass, lol.I have no idea why, but the core of their engineers in the U.S. went to Promethius group.
  17. Can't say I like it - I prefer the metal mounts. Skull hookers look nice because they come off the wall, but I buy some nice looking machined and coated brackets from Ebay for $8 and they look nice.
  18. Solar panel is kicking butt. It has put on another 100 photos with the weak alkalines and still showing full 5.7v. Cam has taken majority of these pics at night which consumes more power and would show the battery weakness. I am going to buy a couple sets of rechargeables for internal use and deploy the camera/panel long-term this weekend. No need for further testing at this point.
  19. It depends on whether the camera is taking a pic or not. If it is after a delay has started - ie it took a pic of you walking up, a single light tap of the button will light up the display. If not, the cam is in "sleep" mode which was disastrous 5 years ago when Moultrie pushed it hard - it crushed trigger performance. Same people who made that system are at Browning now, but they've "ironed out" the kinks and works well. If you are interested, I do have a 2015 Strike Force HD that I'd be willing sell for $85. I really like the cam but I am moving back to blackflash as much as I can and also moving more toward cell/data cams. It has about 3 mos. of in-field use.

    Yeti

I just picked up an Ozark Trail tumbler and it works pretty darn good so far. I too like the Yeti owners - but I don't own one of their products. My wife has zero desire to let me buy one and she knows what they are and how much their coolers cost, so I'd be in trouble if it just appeared.
  21. That is awesome! Nice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Cam just reported back to me - showing 5.7v now. Panel looks like it is working. I am going to leave this cam set up as is with the weak alkaline internally and the external solar/LI battery this week and see what happens.
  23. Camera report shows voltage dropped to 5.1V from 5.7 overnight with 597 photos taken in three weeks and a few days. This is on super cheap alkaline. Great performance. I've now added a solar panel and L-I integrated battery to see if the voltage will go up. I forgot to charge the panel/battery overnight after not having charged it for two months, so I am hoping the sunlight will eventually get that juice flowing.
