quick way to view trail pics on phone
phade replied to Jeremy K's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
I usually use the cheapos from Ebay for $3-5. They work to look at pics in the field. I find that it is not really all that fast and user friendly, and thus I usually only use them in-season or for a specific reason. I typically swap the cards out and get out of dodge. Plus, running 15+ cams....ain't nobody got time for looking at pics in the field. I have viewers on a couple cams and they work when needed, too. -

One of my 2015 Brownings, either the 7fhd or the 5hd did that as well as setup. I ejected the battery tray and pushed it pretty firmly back in, and it worked fine. I set it in the field, but haven't pulled it yet. It has to be some sort of contact issue with the tray. -
Victory got bought out, unless i am mistaken.

The harder i work the luckier i get. Odd.

Head up his rear too?

No bait or licks but were in dire straits for deer overpopulation in some parts of the state.

The screen is internally sealed, so no worries on that. I had one out in our rain storm the other night, got about 2-3" in 5 hours, and not a drop inside the seals. Water issues are likely to be minimal with this cam model because of the over-engineering done on it specifically for water damage prevention. Revolution and Patriot were different models - only major difference being the submersion ability. Upon testing, the Patriot proved to be 99.9% of what the Revolution was intended to be from a waterproofing perspective and the Patriot model was then moved forward as the flagship model. I too can see the illuminators, but they are not brake light like, like some other models. I am sure development will only improve on that front. Since your cam just arrived, it likely already has the updated firmware. If by small chance you notice night illumination appearing to be limited (ie as if night range is real short), you may need to see if the cam has the latest firmware. I think the potential for these cams is great. Being a first year, first run cam, it is what I would call "ahead of the curve" for a typical company just starting out. Any issues that might become more well-known will likely be addressed promptly. The text pics I get during the day (haven't set the cam in the woods yet, beyond my backyard) are absolutely unreal. The clarity is impressive. The remote use is new for me, except for the wired remotes for the older Scoutguards. I fear losing them, but since the cam has a holder built into it, I "shouldn't" lose it. I am looking forward to the Recruit model with the 50 degree FOV.

Not in the 50# full bag, but got some WR at $0.65/lb right down the road from work. Nearest place for me to get a 50# would be offset by gas/time, so the rate is fine for me.

Sorry, I don't have the time to go into detail, but based on my experience, the 2014 cams under-deliver on the promises. The 2015 over-deliver. -
Touche, sir.

Others do, I'm going to the Caribbean.

I posted a deer/fireworks shot that was captured by a friend in a small group that is active in cam development and use. Every so often a good challenge presents itself, like the fireworks. We had alot of time to talk about it and prepare. This time, the Perseid meteor shower came up yesterday morning. I didn't have much time but did what I could to try to capture a meteor. Alot of cam settings won't allow for manual operation (longer shutter namely), so there was alot of talk of taping arrays, removing filters, shining a flashlight at the cam but out of the FOV. Short on time, I set the cam up with the best settings I could. So far, I am the only one who has caught a meteor in the group, albeit not a real nice streaking shot we all aimed for. Next year!

If it is the 2014 model....pass. If it is the 2015 model, buy all of them. -
Part of the drop in my book is that they knew the antlerless was going into effect, potentially increasing the success rate of DMPs. Likely not all of the reasoning, but I suspect it factored into their decisions. So, next year, they can say the percent went from roughly 14% (ballparking the avg in those areas) to XX%, touting it as a major victory to leave it intact for future years until "further notice" or as a way to further spin their agenda to bring in guns if it doesn't go up significantly. For as stupid as they look publicly, behind the scenes, they reflect the smartness characteristic of Cuomo's administration. Don't read that as Cuomo being "good"....that admin just knows their crap when it comes to political navigating.

Clethodim or Arrest/Slay
phade replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I looked into this a bit and I believe it is not the checmical/pesticide/herbicide, but rather the product or brand not being registered with the state. PS Clethodium isn't approved for sale in many states and is a pretty common brand, thus many retailers are not able to get them from whoesalers if that is what they offer. Next thing you know, people interpret it as a rule/law/reg changes. Certain brands that are approved or registered can still be sold from the way I read it. -
An acquaintance of mine from WI/MN texted me this morning "That feeling when your cell cam hasn't texted you a pic in 24 hours...." Meaning, he thought the cam was boosted by a trespasser or something was wrong with it. It dragged on long enough that went out there to check 35 min drive one way. Cam worked fine - he swiped his hand in front of the cam and had a pic in a minute. Then he noticed the wolf tracks on the way back to the truck. A quick check of another cam got a pack of three moving through. It's like dropping an anti-deer grenade when they come through...he still hasn't gotten a pic of a deer yet, now going on almost 48 hours - in a spot where not one, but two 140" plus bucks were showing up daily. Wolves are neat animals, and in all honesty, I'd love to hunt one someday. But, I also have a tremendous amount of sympathy for deer hunters who have them move in. I don't want a thing to do with them in my area.

Most of the time I shot a deer in the south when it was warm - we had a big giant cooler to hang the deer in. Nearly every single hunt club I know of or had been around in the south have walk in coolers. They can invest in that because their season is so long and during warm weather. Walk-in coolers are also a legit business in the south outside of hunt clubs. People rent space all the time. Here, not exactly practical for most. I've yet to see a private walk-in cooler set up for deer hunting here. Sunday night, I have no qualms saying I'm probably going to pass that doe. But, that's also the case during bow gun or MZ, unless I am willing to burn the PTO to take care of it. When I shot my buck on Oct. 1, it was 2:30 a.m. before my head hit the pillow after all was said and done. I was a zombie the next day at work - never again. If it's buckzilla, I'll shoot it and take PTO. I'm simply not going to do that for a doe. For the record, I did fill four antlerless tags last season. If you want to complain about me passing a Sunday night doe, please be sure to have shot five doe last season; otherwise, you know where you can go...

That is a mess, and I am sure its one many people will pay a price for down the road. Can you imagine, even hunters eating the meat of elk and other game in the area because of nutrient uptake in plants? Sheesh. The possibilities for impact seem limitless.

Daikon Radish Are

The oats - I typically see people try to plant them around 30 days before opener. Why did you plant so early? Browse pressure keep the growth new? -
I think Jericho was the show people sent CBS execs 40,000 pounds of actual peanuts. The show was un-canceled for a few more years.
-
This is why JIT is so popular and places like DKS and Cabelas use it. If employee discounts are any material issue, the company makes adjustments pretty quickly.
-
I'd love for every deer hunter in the state to mail Art and Jeremy a package full of packing peanuts or some other benign item - maybe playdoh so they can have all the "does" they need. Ever see the disruption of receiving 500,000 boxes in an office setting? The constant influx of packages will be nothing short of overwhelming. Mail-ins are a physical presence. Might not be PC or any attempt to be fair, but they'll get the point. People do that crap all the time when television stations cancel TV shows, and often, it works. That's just me being me though.

No way. Steve is good at killing turkey. Phade is not.
