  1. Yea... there's specific requirements. New: Any person hunting deer or bear with a firearm or a person who is accompanying someone hunting deer or bear with a firearm shall wear: 1. a minimum total of two hundred fifty square inches of solid fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink material worn above the waist and visible from all directions; or 2. a minimum total of two hundred fifty square inches of patterned fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink consisting of no less than fifty percent fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink worn above the waist and visible from all directions; or 3. a hat or cap with no less than fifty percent of the exterior consisting of solid fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink material and visible from all directions.
  2. We’re always looking at land south of Rochester and it’s outrageous. You could have some luck looking East. Like others have said, buildable lots will cost you more. My buddy bought a beautiful piece of land in Livingston county he plans on building on. Assessed at 9k/acre, he paid just under 10k/acre. Although this is a spot with easy access, great views, easy commute to Roc, etc. It sounds like you have the right idea tho… find the land before it hits the market. Good luck!
  3. Imagine being the poor hunter who was up in Alaska to hunt brown bear and never saw a single bear. Then as his plane is taking off to bring him home... whack!
  4. Oh man... I've gotta go against my boy Josh Allen on week 1! Hopefully all his TDs are passes to Diggs. Good Luck @Steuben Jerry
  5. Keep in mind the rule only applies when hunting with a firearm, so it doesn't effect bowhunting. But then again, gun season is when you will be most visible to the locals, after the leaves fall.
  6. Ill be lucky to kill one elk in my lifetime... this mt. lion could take out 100+
  7. Sorry this isn't vaccination or crossbow related, but I saw this article and thought it was cool. This Mt. Lion killed 17 elk including 2 bulls in 15 months along with lots of other critters... those things are beasts. https://www.themeateater.com/conservation/wildlife-management/you-wont-believe-this-mountain-lions-diet
  8. I wasn’t planning on hunting it… but today I was easily convinced to take a day off and hit up some public land with a buddy. Best case scenario we score a doe to quickly process. Worst case scenario it winds up being a scouting trip and a day off work.
  9. Hanging onto summer as long as we can. Also, octopus hotdogs = my kids run this house.
  10. I think I got his great, great grandfather a few years ago
  11. We'll see. I'll take what I can get though. I'll be happy enough to get this shot... notice my stand in the background.
  12. Upon closer inspection... I think this is all the same deer. 5 on the left, 4 on the right. A good example of how angles can made size look different, and hide points.
  13. I’m not sure if this is one or two bucks. Date is right but time is wrong. All bucks in my area are still in full velvet. Nice to see a big rack!
  14. Instead of going home after a week-long vacation like normal people… we headed right to Canandaigua. Man it’s gonna be tough to go back to work on Tuesday after 10 days off.
  15. Tonight’s the last night in Cape Cod with the whole family here since people are starting to head out tomorrow. Decided to throw together some Cioppino. Clams, mussels, scallops, and shrimp. I was planning on adding some striper too, but I decided we didn’t need it. What a meal!
  16. We took our nephew out on a charter and he had a blast. Couldn’t get into big Stripers, but we got a few plus blues, Black Sea bass and a bonus bonito.
  17. Bonito and striper fillets caught by us, lobsters caught by someone else
  18. Ruby Red made it to the ocean!
  19. The 50 biggest bulbs that don’t have more than 6 cloves get replanted for next year.
