  1. Imagine there was a guy in 2016 who was running for president. This guy supported building a huge wall along the southern border. He was widely mocked for the idea, particularly by the democrats. A border wall? 2000 miles long? Can't happen. Xenophobic, insane, crazy. Now imagine if during this multi-month-long debate about the wall the entire country seemed to forget that only ten years earlier a large majority of congress, including many democrats in both the house and senate, had approved construction of a wall. Imagine if that construction had gone ahead and already 1/3rd of the border wall was complete. Lastly, imagine if during the multi-month-long debate about this candidate's border wall neither he nor anybody else spent a single @*#&ing minute talking about the fact that there was already a wall 1/3rd along the border, he merely meant to complete it, and there had already been wide bipartisan support just ten years earlier for what was now in place. Guess what? you don't need to imagine it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico–United_States_barrier I don't understand why the existing, new wall that we already have along much of the border has not received a single bit of lip service--including from Trump. It makes it hard to cry foul about Trump's crazy plan when the majority of the government already thought it was a good idea only a decade earlier. Also, I think 99.1893839% of Americans have no damn clue that there is already a massive long wall in place. Personally, I'm all for completing the wall. I think immigration to this country needs a huge revamp. Loved the wall expansion the first minute I heard it.

  3. What I do is go to Walmart and buy for $5 the Allen peep tube kit. Just use the tube from that. I have tried silicone tubing specially sold for this purpose on Amazon and I have to say it is absolute crap. Stick with the standard stuff all the kits come with (latex?). There is no reason you can't use the same peep without a tube really although they cannot be served in quite as well. Most people say to not use peep tubes but they do a damn fine job even if there is some risk of it snagging or snapping. Maybe one day I finally make the switch but I keep going back to one. Also pete shepley the founder of PSE bows still recommends them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Problem is it is only Bluetooth by the look of it. What they coin as "crowd gps" is nothing of the sort. There was a company making--not sure it ever came out--a similar device with REAL gps and a few mile range. If you went out of range from it gen it would work like a true crowd gps; as long as it went by somebody else with a hub it could use their hub and ping you its location. Would be amazing embedded in a tree stand cushion but don't think it ever came to fruition.
  5. *sigh* Found a new spot which I think is really nice. Tons of visibility. Sat from 5-sunset. Saw nothing. Came down the tree, was packing everything up, and then a deer walks within 10-20 yards in heavy brush. Course I could do nothing at this point. They got very lucky tonight!
  6. Oh it's no big deal, honey. A little sore for a few days, you won't even notice. This generation's biggest lie.
  7. You'll have a nice week of recovering in the stand. You picked a good time to do it!
  8. Yep I was hoping for this last night, too, but no such luck. Even 10 yards could take the deer out of sight.
  9. Thinking this, too. I have two cams on some private land. I have no idea how many hunters are around. Anyway, all through september these cams picked up tons of activity and it just damn near totally died at the very tail end of september. Instead of a deer most days I'm going consistently several days before seeing them. I don't think I ruined the area, either, as a card pull between around the 24th of Sept and Oct 6 (meaning I wasn't there almost two weeks) is when the let up happened. Either a hunter nailed all of them on the 1st, or they have changed patterns. I'm giving up on the spot for now and hoping it changes back in the next few weeks.
  10. You are right about those three, but in so doing they would have had better chances to win. Trump didn't need to convince the bulk of the country like he does now; that's the general. he has to win the majority of the nation. He needed only win a primary. It's not like democrats like hillary. They hate her as well and bernie is proof of it. Not enough of them hate her, but she is disliked. She got in because the establishment was behind her from the getgo and threw their weight behind her because they love the status quo. But just like you can't look at trump's winning the primary as wide support of him (national election type support), you can't with hillary, either. She'll win the election but not because she is liked, but because the electorate like so many cattle have been led down through a gated pen to the butcher. The people who voted for trump were willing to jump over the fence but there aren't enough of them and I think they overplayed their hand. The establishment is just too strong and too entrenched to be beaten fair and square. As long as money owns the government and elections like it currently does and the media is in bed with it, it will never be possible to have an outsider come and win an election. That was the mistake supporting Trump in the primary. He was too much of a hail mary. The best the republican primary voters should have tried for was just somebody, anybody who could beat hillary. They wanted to beat her and have an anti-establishment person and it was too much to pull off. Oh, as for the polls, I really do hate to be the bringer of bad news, but they are accurate. Some are wildly pro-clinton like NBC news, but all of them other than la times show her with a strong lead. 538 has Trump at 16% chance currently of winning. he's barely even holding onto arizona. We could very well be looking at a massive blowout.
  11. I agree with you. The republican establishment are completely detached from the will of their voters. They've taken them for granted (democrat establishment has as well). The republican party won't change after this election because it has no reason to. The congressman in power will stay in power and keep winning elections because they have all the money and the political connections, so the voters will keep throwing votes at people who won't do anything for them.
  12. That is not bad, though; it shows it worked. Amazon is mostly people who love evercalm and a few people who are convinced it spooked the deer. I do wish the stuff wasn't $20 and also apparently the manufacturer says use it within a year. Is this true, it's only good for about a year? I suppose if bought fresh now it would be good for two hunting seasons (14 months).
  13. Get an emergency sleeping bag. Small and light and allows you to go on assumption you won't be able to have a fire for whatever reason. Two flashlights.
  14. That last pic is good water rat. Trump is down 6.5% at RCP. Every poll has clinton up "big league" except LA times. I thought Assange has screwed us, but he hadn't. Wikileaks has released some good stuff recently. Nobody knows about it because they are focused on Trump's pussygate. The media has definitely been complicit in elevating clinton well beyond what she deserves, and they will do the same when she is in office. Still, another candidate would not have been such an easy mark as Trump, inviting such criticism time and again. Such crap. I think Kasich or Cruz or Rubio would be doing tons better now. I also wish Biden had run. He would he mopped the floor with hillary early on.
  15. This is logical. Both sides have put up deeply, deeply flawed candidates who, in any other election, would have been summarily run off with pitchforks long ago. The fact that the election has been quasi competitive (I only say quasi because Trump has consistently done badly in polls, but occasionally reaches parity) is because for each party's terrible candidate, the other has a terrible one as well.
  16. If you can get a second shot definitely that sounds good. I will try and remember it. If it's any consolation I don't think you pressured it. I hit a deer in its hind leg last year (yeah it was an incredibly terrible shot). I knew it was a bad shot so I waited a few hours, including coming home and surfing the net. That's when I saw some people online saying for a bad shoulder shot you in fact should chase it immediately because it will clot up and you need to keep pressure on so the deer can't lay down, clot up, and be done. Anyway, I got back to my spot and tracked it at least half a mile. The blood near the initial hit was strong but it started to lighten up. Then it would lead to a large pile of blood where the deer had laid down. Then after that pile of blood very, very little other blood, so it would take me a while to find the trail again. Then I'd find it, walk another few hundred yards, and find another pool of blood on the ground. After each pool the spotting on the trail was very light. Finally I got to a significant pool of blood and could never regain the trail after that pool.
  17. Yep. As for the blood it is surely there somewhere. Just may be very difficult to see in the dark.
  18. I can confirm year old trail mix is edible! Also it is cold out here. Fall has certainly begun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Weather is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. out today. Sunny and crisp. Going to go to a spot that was money all september and sit until sunset. I said september because the cameras were basically dead starting october. Oh well it is nice out there
  20. Kind of tempted to try some scents this year. So hard to figure out what is genuinely effective and what is bunk. I guess we know deer have strong noses and there must be a way to take advantage of that, though. Evercalm ratings are pretty darn good on amazon.
  21. It may indeed be too heavy/hassle to use it as in-and-out-every-time cart to save me carrying anything. Last two deer I took were exactly 1/3rd of a mile off the road and each one took me two hours to drag out. I'm quite strong, but there is a significant net incline increase from where they died to where my car is, including some 45 degree gullys. I really can't do it again, it's just crazy. Some people like sleds, but the bulk of where I was looks like typical hardwood area, fairly easy to walk through. Just crazy hills. I did end up ordering the Sherpa. It just looks like such a great idea I have to try it. Another guy on the forum likes his and reviews are pretty good for it. The wedge shape in the climber will force the center of gravity a little higher than a typical cart, but the wedge shape will also help force the mass toward the center, which is helpful.
  22. Amazing reviews on that on amazon, you got seriously unlucky with it!
