  1. Bowman mike, your camera keeps tilting Hopefully any deer you get from there will run up hill before falling down.
  2. As usual, shelves emptied because people keep NOTHING in their house!
  3. Not the first accolade I have seen for those. It looks pretty interesting. I wish I could see them in stores though, but never have. Same for x stands, I don't see those.
  4. Why hasn't he surrounded himself with them yet? And, if he has, why doesn't he listen to them? His twitter account is a great bellwether of where his head is. There's just no excuse for the behavior he has exhibited on there. I don't believe this would change if he were in washington. Even last night he was still picking on Megyn Kelly!
  5. It's in Newark. I want it but I definitely don't need it!
  6. Interesting. I had the opportunity to buy the x-stand climber in great shape for $140 recently, but too many negative reviews for me to do it. It was the pricier one, too, with the butt rail.
  7. This says don't do it: http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/whitetail-365/2011/12/you-shoot-buck-ground-blind This says don't worry about it: http://www.bowhuntingmag.com/tactics/shoot-ground-blind-mesh/ Hope that cleared it up lol!

    Sight question

D loop tends to shift over time. This is why despite spending a lot of time messing with peeps...guess what I'm back to using a tube. When I bother restringing my bow I'll probably try a fixed peep again. I think in any case it's something a person should work on themselves. If you need to rely on a shop for their bow press and string work it's a massive, massive hassle. You can buy a cheap bow press like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Prototech-Industries-Inc-4439-Bowmaster/dp/B000PA07JY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475687717&sr=8-1&keywords=cable+bow+press Then fiddle around while watching tv. I spent $60-70 a pop twice last year at two different bow shops and decided when I still had peep issues that instead of going to yet another one I would just spend that money on a press. Also, buy yourself a target for the basement. I'm surprised how much I use mine, mainly when tuning but also just to get some time in with the bow while listening to music and not going anywhere. Mine is 14 yards away. If you have a massive house maybe you can get 20. I live around other houses so cannot shoot outside currently.
  9. I've only ever tried one, the summit viper SD. I imagine there must be a better way for the cables to hook and unhook (they are a bit fiddly), but it feels very sturdy, it makes no sound when I'm in the tree, it's very comfortable because of the back rest. It weighs 20 lbs. There are some lighter ones, but not by much unless you want to give up the rail or the back rest or its footprint. I don't know how people spend hours in a tree without a back rest actually. I couldn't do it. Mini viper SD is a bit smaller (barely) but 18 lbs. I'd probably get the mini if I were buying another one today. I got my summit last year for $199 during some crazy deal at gander mountain. Some climbers are over 30 lbs. Wth!
  10. !! I took home a very good lesson from your post: only sell to people in NY. Gun laws are not something to mess with and having to research CA laws to make a sale is, as you now appreciate, just not worth it.
  11. I honestly believe at this time of the year that sitting mid-day is just burning up daylight. With rare exception, the deer on my cams are either during the night, early morning, or within about 1-2 hours before sunset. Very occasional activity during the day but not much; they just aren't moving. Unless you have tons of time to spare, I wouldn't even bother sitting between 11 and 4.
  12. Yeah he was a dick, frankly. Rude and bothersome to watch. FWIW CNN shows pence won the debate. I think the pundits will generally agree he won it. He took none of the bait from kaine at all despite repeated attempts with the same material over and over.
  13. Pence is killing it. He is a far better debater than Kaine, who is coming off as marvelously unlikable. Kaine also keeps going to the same well over and over on his prepared lines. And Pence calls him out on it. I may not like everything Biden says, but the guy has charm. I cannot imagine listening to Kaine for the next four years.
  14. Pence is doing well. I think he is winning and I have made no secret about my view on Trump's performance, so I am not here to blindly gush. Not only is pence unshakeable, but he is also deftly defending against some of the crazy stuff Trump has said. Kaine is not stupid, but he does not have the charisma that pence does, at least during this debate. Pence is also calling Kaine out on some of his practices lines lol
  15. I didn't plan on watching this, but had nothing better to do tonight. It's only 30 minutes in so far, but we have an irritated, frankly irritating-to-watch Kaine vs Pence, who is cool, composed, and practiced. Both have obviously prepared for this, but Pence is (so far) doing a great job--better than Kaine at this point. If only Pence were at the top of the ticket
  16. But probably an animal slowly dying from something like that will run off and hide somewhere. Going to a person's house the car idea sounds pretty plausible. It's definitely weird, though.
  17. It never passed the sniff test for me. Apparently not for science, either. http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/hunting/2013/07/something-stinks-scent-lok I'm sure it is possible to scent-lock your body. Put on a dry suit; it's like a hazmat suit for divers. Or wear a hazmat. Something impermeable to gas would definitely lock your odor in (and your sweat). As always, how much help does a person want with hunting? If it were possible to get a tree stand that makes you literally invisible and odor proof I am sure it would sell like hot cakes, but it simplifies hunting.
  18. Yeah it is a harder election to call relatively speaking and 538 has I believe acknowledged that.
  19. For a nation full of people in which the vast bulk cannot even explain what a standard deviation is, I've seen an alarming number of people who think they know statistics better than professional statisticians; who argue the polls by these experts are all wrong. My favorite predictions of elections are by Nate Silver, who runs the 538 site. Why is he my favorite? Why do I listen to him, and why should you? Track history. Let's take a look at 538's track history: what they've predicted, and how accurate they were. 2008 Presidential Election Prediction: Obama to win popular vote by 6.1% (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FiveThirtyEight#Final_projections_of_2008_elections) Actual: Obama won popular by 7.2% (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2008) Prediction: Obama to get 349-353 electoral votes Actual: Obama got 365 electoral votes 2012 presidential Election Prediction: Obama to win popular vote by 2.5% (http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/fivethirtyeights-2012-forecast/) Actual: Obama won popular by 3.9% (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2012) Prediction: Obama to get 313 electoral votes Actual: Obama got 332 electoral votes In two elections Nate Silver was off in popular vote by 1.1% and 1.4%, respectively, and in electoral he was off by 4% and 6%, respectively. Nate had a mea culpa back in May over underestimating Trump's success, but overall during the 2016 primaries he predicted the winner more than 90% of the time. If you find this degree of accuracy compelling, you can get a regularly-updated 2016 prediction of the election here: http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/?ex_cid=rrpromo or, you can do what I've seen some do: eschew all expert opinion, go off the cuff with what you want the numbers to say, and search far and wide for somebody who will whisper sweet nothings into your ear.
  20. Depends. if you already have a bunch of big bucks under your belt, what's the benefit of another 8? In my case, I don't. That 8 would be risking its life coming within range regardless of the 10. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Or in this case an 8 in range is better than waiting and not getting either one
  21. I do find I can post reliably and only one if, after I hit submit reply I wait at least half a minute. Just let it sit there. And don't do anything!
  22. Yeah that math seems bad. The place I'm going now I took two field dressed under 150 lb deer and got 53 lbs and 54 lbs respectively, of meat.
  23. I can't either, now. I could a day ago. is anybody actively working on fixing these issues?
