Nice way to reveal. Close age is great, particularly if they are of the same sex. It gives them a constant playmate and that age difference is not substantial.

On way back to car I saw some deer droppings that were still soft. However, right next to them also still soft I saw a single chocolate bar sized clump of coiled scat--basically a green version of the coiled/clumped brown poo emoticon as all one unit Is there any way that was deer? There is a house a hundred yards from that spot with barking dogs but it seems only marginally possible the owner's dogs were running through the woods. -

Nice stone and atbuck! Only thing I am seeing is also leaves falling. At least I have some Hot coffee. This spot is so strange. On maps it should be money, when I get close the same (trails), cams were full of deer two weeks ago, now nothing. Will go back to my public land tomorrow cause i know it has deer. -

Yep. And that's exactly why I like what Bowguy1 just wrote. I don't want it easier for people to fill tags. I work my silly ass off with my bow prior to season so that I'm a capable shot. I have sympathy for guys who are genuinely incapable of shooting a bow due to shoulder or something else. But, guys who don't have the time? Simply don't care. We all have the time if we make it to do whatever we want. Some people work on accuracy, others watch tv, others work long hours, others sleep. Getting good enough with a compound to be a capable hunter doesn't take much time anyway: shoot a few days/week you'll be okay. But, most people just cannot be bothered and I have no interest in making life easier for them; if they cared more they would be out there more. As for being selfish I absolutely am being self-serving, no doubt about it. But, if you're appealing to the "less accidents" and over-population argument, you would in theory endorse opening up bow season to guns and then also bring gun season back to start on May 1st or maybe just 12 months long. We could solve the deer population in a single season with this. DMPs for everyone, use whatever gun you like. But it's really a false argument anyway. As crossbows become more powerful and popular, having them overlap bow entirely is going to result in so many extra harvest numbers that the DEC will simply have to cut back DMP issuance or shorten the season anyway or...do what they are doing now: Bow starts Oct 1. They can do this safely because bow harvest numbers are very low. You can't have your cake and eat it, too: if everyone is walking around with a 400 FPS crossbow, harvest will be too high. Then you'll have to fight off the gun guys who are pissed at all the game the crossbow guys are taking

Per usual I spent way too long researching anything I bought, so I ordered molle straps a couple days ago. The deal is there are "standard" and "enhanced" molle ii straps. Most seem to be enhanced. Some allusion to standard having long straps but couldn't nail down details. You can pay $25-30 on amazon or get the exact same thing, new from ebay for $16 shipped. I bought these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281999803694 New Desert Camo MOLLE II Shoulder Straps DCU US MILITARY ISSUE Army Backpack These are apparently milspec which is great because suburban warriors love their milspec. If you want anything but desert camo you will pay a lot more for it and/or have to buy used. Some guys attach these straps to the plastic molle frame, some don't. I don't plan to because I need my climber (viper) seat to pop through the bars like it normally does and the frame would get in the way. Lastly, if the straps alone aren't enough, you need the molle kidney belt. It's about $11 shipped.

stand is 20, sherpa game cart I bought is another 10, so we're 30 there and haven't even started. My pack is at least 10 including weight of it and the stuff in there, plus I normally hang my bow, so 45-50 if we're being honest. And this all goes with me even on short distance (of course on short the weight doesn't matter anyway). Looks ridiculous but last night I was playing with hanging my climber on my back and my backpack on my front and couldn't believe how comfortable it felt at least in my living room. Balances way better, but perhaps in the woods I'd soon figure out why nobody does it.

Simmons entry level, the "600 yard" version, which has a range of WAY less than 600 yards in reality. It's fine for what it is but to be taken seriously as a rangefinder particularly for bowhunting it needs the following mods, which I did the day I bought it: 1) Needs a loop so that it can be pulled from the belt case properly 2) Velcro is absolute garbage for a range finder when you're potentially in quiet woods at close distance to your game. What a laugh! So, the velcro has to be taped over and underneath the tape several rare-earth magnet disks must be placed on both the latch and the case itself. Now you have a perfectly quiet magnetized case that won't spook anything and makes no noise.

I think everyone here accepts it as fact; we don't deny it. But, many of us also hope for something better. I think the US justice system is among the worst in the developed world. I don't accept that this is as good as it can get. -
Yes, the best expandable broadhead is the one you send through the vitals! A $7 pack of Allen fixed blade are going to take down any deer if it's double-lunged.
-
Looks like you're talking about these. I don't think I have seen them at walmart. I buy the $13/pack expandables they have. They fly fine and have a decent cutting surface, with good consistency in weight. They are chisel point, though, not sharp like this on the tip. These look interesting, but they aren't at walmart. http://www.carbonexpressarrows.com/archery/broadheads/f-15--expandable FOUR blades in the expandable one plus a primary cutting front. That seems like it would definitely shred the target.

Truth. I actually thought Comey would be good on this case because everyone said he was a straight shooter and it seemed to me he even had a personal bone to pick with the Clintons. I thought to myself that if there is real meat to this, he'll recommend charges. I expected one of two things from his press conference: 1) We looked, we just can't find anything, sorry guys, drudgereport led you astray. There is no fire here or even any smoke. or 2) Yep, we found some evidence of illegal behavior, she breached multiple laws, lied against the classified material. All the stuff you read was actually true. We recommend charges What I never envisioned was a combination of 2) and 1): Yes, everything you read is true, she broke the law, lots of classified material badly treated without proper security but...you know, she's like Clinton, so come on we're not charging her. But before you go thinking you can get away with this, don't; you can't and we will charge you because you're a peasant if you do the same. Comey screwed us. -

Getting Out The Vote
Core replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You make threads designed to antagonize, generally with little if any commentary and then just wait for people to come and snipe at you for them. -
You can always get a padded stock and when bench shooting just throw more cushioning in. Then in the field the occasional raw hit to the shoulder probably won't matter.

The FBI actually listed multiple crimes she had committed. All of the things comey listed are actual crimes already on the books. They just chose not to prosecute. There is a meaningful distinction. There is a very strong case to be made for the fact the FBI was not impartial and screwed this up. The fact that on the day Comey gave his talk he said that somebody else doing the very same thing could be charged for a crime, but that they have not decided that with Clinton...and then weeks later we find out that he "wasn't even close" to recommending charges concerns the hell out of me. The first statement hinting they were on the fence, the second they are not even close, yet somebody else could be charged. And that's beside the point that he also listed multiple ways in which she was "grossly negligent", something for which there is already a law against being, but again no crime. People have been recently convicted for much less. With Obama having appointed the director of the FBI, the head of the justice department, and then before the case being closed he also endorses the person they are investigating, no reasonable person can assume it was looked at fairly. And of course the chat lynch had with the husband of the guy they are investigating in a high profile case. It couldn't be more in your face screw the citizens we don't care. As for bush I think he should already be in prison over the iraq war. Nothing will come of this scotus case. Even if they find the government acted in the wrong none of the people who led this effort will be punished in any meaningful way. As a co-worker told me, some people think there is a justice system for the connected and one for the rest of us, but that's not true; there isn't a justice system for the connected. -

I'm not terribly concerned because it's unequivocally impossible to create a nuclear device without an extensive state apparatus. The only way to procure one is from a nuclear state. That video mentions pakistan, but the blowback would be astronomical. I'm sure any state knows that if they willingly sell nukes to a terror group and that is used that they will have their entire nuclear stockpile eviscerated (absolute best-case for them; worse case it is removed by nuclear weapons). That would be mean pakistan's entire arsenal is bombed. That's step one. Step two is merciless identification and prosecution of all people involved. So any "corrupt" officials who benefited from that would be tirelessly hunted down. For the same reason a "rogue" state like north korea also won't sell its weapons. Certainly not to a group like ISIS. This is all analogous to me making a few bucks by selling one of my guns to a guy who's just positively, absolutely guaranteed that he's going to use it for murder and there is a record tracking that gun directly back to me including knowledge that I knew what he'd do. It's not plausible.

He might have thought he had permission. If somebody else is telling people they can hunt it sure sounds like he should be disabused of this idea.
