Any birthday that involves venison fajtas is a good birthday! Thank you all!

Well let me just quote the late-great Colonel Sanders, who said..."I'm too drunk to taste this chicken."
-
pencil me in for ~Dec 8th ish....feeling like im really going to bloom late this year.
-
When you say "slowest start in years", how bad we talking?

I've used Scott (BareBones and Bugs) in the past, and he does a great job.

Pretty big piece of public with some significant elevation changes in places. There are deer to be found, but it does get pretty crowded the first week or so.

Watch for glands. You'll know them when you see them.

Look at the neck on that thing!

I shot my CVA again with the same 777 and Barnes TMZ 250 grain sabots. 4 shots at 75 yards were ~1" apart. More than enough for the dense hillsides I hunt. I did order the Blackhorn 209 breach plug, tool, and propellant. I highly doubt it will come soon enough for me to re-sight in before the season, but I'm comfortable with what I have for the 2019 season.

in prior years, I could do 1-2" groups at 100 with the PowerBelts. This year, I struggled to do 2" at 50 yards... I've read about the blackhorn209. I'd need to get the breachplug, and learn my way around measuring the powder. Do you use speedloaders so you don't have to measure when you're in the field?

Didn't think of the potential gas check issue with older Powerbelts, but they are maybe 2 years old at most. 777 on the other hand is probably 5-6 years old. Starting to question if it was the 777 as I started taking only pellets from the lower level somewhere along the line in my quest for accuracy. Might just need to buy another box of pellets and re-shoot to satisfy my need for an answer.

I have shot Aerolite Powerbelts and 2 pellets of 777 from my CVA Accura since I bought it with good accuracy and success on deer. In sighting it in this year, I couldn't get it to group consistently with the same load (from the same package) as prior years. Checked scope mounts and cleaned everything with no change in accuracy. Bought some Barnes TMZ sabots to test, and have had much better results with the same propellant. Do I just chalk this up to one of life's great mysteries and move on? Struggling to walk away from this without having a concrete answer as my muzzleloader (and the muzzleloader only area) is my go to for the first few weeks of the regular season.

Saw this on Facebook last night. Not sure what my neighbors would do if this was implemented where I live. Deer hanging in the front yard is a neighborhood invitation to come over for a beer or 6 and a story.

Finally got it out to shoot. Bought three different kinds of ammo (Barnes, Nosler, and Federal Fusion). Started with the Barnes, and I never made it to the others. Even with my less than spectacular shooting skills, I can shoot right at if not slightly under MOA with this gun. Hard to describe, but the Model 70s just seem to fit me the best. Maybe because of the longer LOP? Shooting it really brought back memories of my dad's Model 70 in 243 that I carried for years down in PA. I may forgo carrying the Browning 7mm-08 in favor of this for rifle season

ah Friendship, NY; the place where I got my first speeding ticket for going 7mph over the speed limit on 86 only to then watch the cop pull away and hit a deer less than 300 yards down the road. Felt like sweet justice.

I know I saw someone mention this exact gun within the past week or two. You aren't losing your mind -
Big fan of that stock...gun/optic combo isn't bad either

115ish...low 120s at most. I'd be more than happy if he came my way

2.5 year old, 134.75 pounds

Given I have 2 little ones now and my hunting time is highly limited, I'm shooting the first two legal deer that have some size to them. I need 2 deer to feed the bottomless pits so our grocery bills stop increasing so fast. I could care less about bone....for now.

I wonder how many new pieces of gun legislation he's going to try to sign now that he has nothing better to do.... New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and celebrity chef Sandra Lee have split. The couple confirmed in a joint statement to journalist Zack Fink on Wednesday that they're calling it quits after 14 years of dating.

Bought that exact package. I ended up switching out the scope for a Nikon as I wasn't a fan of how busy the reticle is on the Konus. As for performance, it's been great. I shoot 100gr. of 777 with AeroTip Powebelts into 1.5" @ 100 yards. I'm sure I could get a better group if I played with the propellant and sabot combos, but my current setup has killed a few deer. So why mess with it?

I'm shocked a yellow jacket can pierce the hammer forged physique of Moog.
