I am planning to add three posts to the harvest thread,starting wednesday or thursday. Getting very itchy here,i havent been out much,but that will change soon.

zag,i think it is commendable that you let your kid explore stuff like that. People are so overprotective these days,a little too much so in my opinion. I am 45 years old and as a kid we got to roam the fields and woods completely unsupervised. We climbed some serious trees,maybe 100+ feet tall. That is what kids do. Thumbs up for your guy,i can relate to him,i sit in a tree with the same excitement.

When i have a layer of stuff to get off i usually flip the chunk upside down and cut super close to the board while holding the meat with a flat hand,like skinning fish fillets.

I only got him that one time. Haha. I am in 4F and he is up on a hill with no field crops nearby. He is a good one for the immediate area. -
So i checked my cam i moved a couple of weeks ago and am i glad i did. Havent seen this guy before. The base of his antlers looks pretty thick,he has to be more than 2 1/2 years old,right?

The daily shooting is paying off,three arrows at 32, two at 43. Now i only need something good to shoot at in the woods.

Wow,sounds like awesome encounters. I still haven't heard bucks fight,maybe this year... And l like the idea of trying all sorts of different things to keep the deer guessing whats up.

Ok growalot,now I have an image in my mind of you skipping to the stand. It sounds like a great idea and i might try it someday soon. Probably makes the skipper happy too. And i am serious.

You ever see that Calvin and hobbes cartoon where the deer come out of the elevator in the office and shoot one of the humans and the bucks congratulate each other,oh,nice big one....that is hilarious...

Has anyone tried using a stick and to set it down after each foot comes down to sound four legged? I have read about that being a good trick,anyone use it?

I am torn here. I could buy the lone wolf hand climber or save my $ for a new used matthews bow at my bow shop. My cheap starter bow,the bear cruzer package,will need a new string and rest soon and I kinda don't wanna throw more money at that one... Might have to make due with the summit viper and tough out the haul...

Yeah,i am looking at the bigger platform hand climber. Adds almost three pounds of weight. I am also thinking of getting the cushier straps for it.

Does anyone own one of those? It has a bigger platform than the original one,and i am thinking of getting one. My summit viper is just to damn heavy to haul any distance and the bar doesn't flip up,not great for bowhunting. If i get one now I can use it for the end of the month and November,wooohooo.

I think the ticks are mean this year. I got two on Sunday morning and got them off early afternoon and the bite sites went nuts! I usually get some redness and a weeklong itch,but these just blew up. Went to the doc on Tuesday,and am taking antibiotics now,even though the ticks supposedly need to be on you for 24 + hrs before you get lyme disease. So i just got a skin infection of sorts. Nasty,itches like hell too. Your friends doctor sounds like a moron though.

yes,one for bow privilege and one for mz privilege,so one antlerless tag and one either sex tag. Forget which one you get for which. And you can use yoyr DMP in bow or mz season as well.

Couldnt agree more. You can not let the guy get away with it. Something is very off here,and he was way over the line. He needs a good whipping from his superiors,and I also like grows idea of going right to the top and call Albany as well.
