  1. Two deer with the bow, maybe three. Last year I got one small doe with the bow and one average one with the gun. Both were opportunistic, the first I saw when I drove home to pick up something and the 2nd I saw when I went to the barn to feed the horses. I really would like to get so.e deer in the woods this year, haha
  2. Hoyt Ventum 33 60# DW at 30" DL black eagle 300 arrows with cutthroat 200gr single bevel BH. 3 4" vanes Lighted nocks Total arrow weight 565 gr.
  3. You are the delusional one. Industry fixing industries problems without the government getting involved? That sure worked great in the last couple of hundred years. Most industry looks to maximize their profits any way they can with no regards to environment, country or people. If there were no regulations the world would be worse off than it is now. Greed is one of the biggest problems...in my humble opinion.
  4. this is spot on. I didn't even know you weren't in the state, but also don't care really. if anyone has any outdoor input I welcome them. As far as reactions go,that means nothing.
  5. I am game, just went to Beaver Valley last weekend and it was fun. Scouted some stateland right there as well.
  6. I fully agree earned a buck tag would be a great idea. The only way to control the population and balance the herd is by killing does. Incentives for opening up more land is also a good plan...
  7. I agree with biz,but you can do what you want of course. One pound of meat every other day seems a bit excessive.
  8. Get well soon phade. My wife and I dodged the rona a couple of times in the last few weeks. First my nephew and his girlfriend came to visit from Germany and brought the rona with them. I picked them up in my truck and drove a couple of hours back to our house. Next morning the nephew got a text from his mom, positive. So I gave him a test and he was positive as well. We made him wear a mask in the house and told them to hang out outside or in their room and they stayed with us for 10 days and we never got it. Anytime we had the slightest headache or itchy throat we got a little nervous. And last week two of my wife's co-workers tested positive but she dodged it again. Not sure how long we can keep this up. So far we have not gotten it.
  9. I do to narrow down what areas I will check in person.
  10. A really good shop is hard to find. I went to a complete hack for a bit I should have trusted my first impression. Now I have a great bowshop, one man shop and he is great. If I had not found him I would have invested in a home shop for sure.
  11. I got my 4f one but not the 7m one. That all is fine as I realistically.only need two deer to make it through the year. I may donate one if I fill my tags early.
  12. Haha, seriously. Hoyt really.has come up with an amazing camera system. I tried someone's ventum at a 3d shoot and thought it was 50#. I shoot 60# and did then with my halon x. But the ventum was so easy... I am sure the rx7 is similar, enjoy it!
  13. Make sure you don't get the hunter qad rest,it can bounce back up and mess with your shots. the next step up is better...
  14. Don't know about the rx7,but I went from a halon x to a ventum33 and love the drawcycle and grip so much better. I will keep this bow for a long time...
  15. Also,if you are trying to tune your bow a DL too short or too long can easily give you tail left or tail right on your arrows. Have someone take pictures of you from directly opposite you that show your whole body at full draw. Or set the phone on a ladder or something. A picture from behind you is not bad either. You want your bow arm straight but not locked, that will make your bow shoulder ride up and your release arm should be directly opposite from your bow arm, pointing straight back.
  16. Oh,just people asking a company to do something for the common good? That sounds like it will be a success.
  17. Sounds like government control to me,what happened to free markets? I am disappointed in you posting/pasting this...
  18. You could go on archery talk and post a pic of you there drawing the bow. There is a very helpful fella goes by the handle.of nuts&bolts that will point you in the right direction. One can shoot with too long or to short DL but once you get it right it will be a world of difference. I shot with way too short DL for a couple of years. It is amazing what one can adjust to but it doesn't mean it is right.
  19. I don't do a lot for scent control but watch the wind a lot. And the thermals. And I wonder how many big bucks have smelled me that I have never seen, haha. I base my approach on the wind and if it changes while I am in my spot i will change spots. I also think one just changes things by percentage points when taking scent control serious. I don't want to put all that effort into it to have it a working system, that is not fun for me. Young deer will be curious sometimes about ground disturbance and scent,I even had an older doe follow my trail in once she crossed it,but I doubt a mature buck would do that.
  20. Glad you are ok and thanks for posting, you can't be careful enough with any stand. Good on you for wearing safety equipment.
  21. yup,as long as it is a well insulated slab that works just fine. It is called an Alaskan slab and is thicker at the perimeter and thinner in the middle. It works well when done correctly.
  22. Well Tacks, have to agree with you on that. Booster and having had covid are both supposed to be good for 6 months after, maybe less. Either way,at this point you are probably less likely t9 get infected if you had covid recently vs a booster. The college is a little to rigid imo...
  23. Aug 1st for license sales and I do believe you still have to buy the muzzy tag. If you don't buy the muzzy tag you can't be hunting that season with any implement.
  24. Schatzi's Brew pub has really good food as well. The New Paltz area is pretty nice, the mohonk mountain preserve has some good hiking trails.
  25. I agree with all that said if a buck makes it to that age he will be very very difficult to kill. Hunting land is so fragmented now that there are a ton of hiding places for the smart bucks. That is not even counting the thick stuff that is on huntable land. I got a pick of a 3 year old on a game cam and he did not let that happen twice. He got killed the next year by a guy who saw him from the road and got out and popped him. I was less than thrilled about that effort...
